I already can see the disadvantage Concert Hall has because I was raised in the deep south. I have experienced a real catfish cook out and fried green tomatoes. The appetizer I ordered was the Fried Green Tomatoes. Typically, FGTs are fresh green tomatoes and the batter is DRY even though it is fried. FGTs are fresh, crunchy, juicy on th einside, with a golden, crispy DRY outer shell. The tomatoes should NOT be swimming in grease and encased in a burned outer shell. That's just not how to cook Fried Green Tomatoes. FGTs are served with Ranch Dressing, not Chipotle Ranch. If I wanted Chipotle Ranch, I would have asked for it. But if you are going for authenticity, do your homework. The potato was hard, not well baked. It had a black mass in the center. It was a mean little rock that dared me to try to make it palatable. I knew I was in trouble when the butter served for the "baked" potato was actually fake butter. No real butter. It was some kind of margarine spread. The fish was not cooked well. The bater was burned while the fish was only partially cooked. Cooked Catfish Batter is sand colored/Yellowish, not dark brown and hard enough to chip a tooth. The meat was translucently grey. Cooked Catfish (Fried) is a shiny white, tender, succulent. This poor fish didn't stand a chance. That was not worth the $20.00 i forked over for it. My working theory is that the proprietor depends on the patron being well and truly drunk BEFORE ordering a meal. That is practically the only way you would agree to eat it. So, the meal was overpriced and badly cooked. I paid a total of $41.57 for badly cooked food served by a person that acted like he was being inconvenienced by my presence. A local, who has asked me not to mention his name told me that the Concert Hall used to serve the best food in town and was reasonably priced. He said that has not been true in a while, and its as if the owners have stopped caring. By now, I am sure I have angered almost everyone in Hermann and I will have to move to have any peace. I love it here, and hope that is not the case. But I cannot be silent when there has been so much hype over this establishment. It didn't come close to living up to its former reputation. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the sausage sampler, the shrimp dinner, salad, and blackberry cobbler. But I can tell you most all of it was all fresh and delicious. The service was amazing. The ambiance was quirky but clean and good. We will definitely come again. But, we took the blackberry cobbler home for dessert later and the crust was deliciously flavored by blackberry. In the box was 2-3 blackberries and a smidge of juice. This place hits all the marks. It's historical, the service is amazing and the food is great bar food. We sat at a large table and our server came right to our table to get our drink order. We started to look over the menu and my uncle told me about the Reuben's here. They make the sauerkraut with apples so it's sweet and tangy. I had to try it! One place had like three 4 year olds sitting at the bar watching cartoons (Nope, Sorry Loose Caboose) another place seemed OK , but it just didn't vibe well, and the Megadeath music coming from the kitchen was much louder than the house music (looking at you Piano Bar) so we trekked down toward the river and found this place. The standee outside advertised a $12 steak special, added bonus! We ordered the special and a few drinks and shortly after came our meal. Funky place. If it wasn't for the historical aspect it'd be a dive bar: everything is extremely worn, used, pretty beaten up in appearance. Staff was pretty attentive, friendly, nearly all females dressed max caz dressed in hoodies, t's, tenny's and jeans. Food is bar stuff from bags. Burger was exceptional: well-cooked w/flavorful meat. My buddy lives nearby and I got to his place late so his small town had no places that were open by the time I arrived. We drove over to Hermann to look for a place to eat and most of the places had closed but Concert Hall was open. We walked in and, didn't know this but Missouri still allows smoking in restaurants. They do, and you could tell right away. We walked into the other side of where it was non-smoking. Late night you order everything from the bar so we ended up getting the pretzel sticks to start and the deluxe pizza. The local beer was ok, but for a full bar it was honestly kind of disappointing to be served beer in a clear plastic cup. Honestly, I would have rated this place higher but there was glassware available! The pretzel sticks were good with the surprisingly good queso. The pizza here is 'St. Louis' style which is why the crust is cracker thin but instead of Provel it's actual cheese. It's tough being the only game in town and a group of about 6 came into the other side of the bar and started smoking there, that's what prompted us to leave. read more

This is our Go-to place because food is quite decent, there is a decent selection, and it has great hours of operation. It is often open when all else in town is closed. I like their chili. This was an awesome place to gather and eat. There were six of us and we had a little of everything. Appetizers, pizza, burger, salad, and dessert. The food was good except the cobbler. We were assured it was the best cobbler around. It was not. We actually could not even finish it. The service was excellent. The waitress was outstanding. She was attentive, helpful, and very quick. We stopped here for lunch upon our arrival to hermann on a Friday afternoon. Tbe server, Allison, was great. It was just her serving a behind the bar, and tended to us and the 5 other groups quite well. The beer was fresh and cold, and the bratwurst (being a German town) was very good. A nice lunch to start our weekend in hermann. The only thing of note is they still allow smoking in the bar, and 3 different groups were lighting up. In a non vented room, this really hurt the atmosphere, and unfortunately made us eager to eat and get out of there. (To note, later in our trip, at another restaurant, I overheard someone asking another person about the smoking, and it seemed to bother them as well.) Overall it was pretty good. I would've left four stars until I got the bill. Atmosphere was nice, waitress was friendly, my BLT came fast. The BLT was OK, I enjoy their twist on it with the fried green tomato. Everything on the menu seem pretty reasonable. My BLT was about 10 1/2 dollars. Ordered blackberry cobbler for dessert which was also good. Still, I was surprised with all the add-ons. Maybe I didn't look at the menu very well but I ordered German potato salad with my BLT and Itwas $2.50 extra. Then the cobbler was $5.50 and they gave me a scoop of ice cream with it which was $1.50. So overall, good food, good value, but be careful when ordering. It has been a couple years since I had visited the Concert Hall for dinner. Years past the menu had a good variety of foods with decent service yet tonight was a completely different experience. After seating ourselves at a table, our server took our food and drink orders. She never returned to check in, refill drinks, etc. Our food finally arrived 25 minutes after it was placed yet we never received our appetizer and my chicken tenders were pink/raw in the inside. Our server never apologized for us not receiving our appetizer nor for the undercooked chicken. I know she is 'not to blame' for the undercooked chicken yet an apology would have gone a long way.
