A few days ago I walked in and the entrance was covered in garbage and inside the store was no better. I called and spoke with a manger but she blames it on the "local workers", saying they were messy instead of taking the responsibility for her store being dirty. It was pretty disappointing that she made a slightly racist comment. The workers never want to help and seem to wander around aimlessly on their phones. I'm not trying to shame anyone at all but a lot of the clothes the workers wear are pretty dirty looking and don't even look like they want to be there at all. There was a worker saying he didn't even want to be there, which is silly to say so loudly in front of customers. Maybe they don't, but maybe customer service isn't for them then, and maybe the managing should be doing a better job at managing.

(Yet another reason to be skeptical about the human approach to psychotherapy. For heaven's sake, their therapists aren't even telepathic!) Or at least, inaccurate -- at least in this instance. For the Winthrop Evergreen IGA is NOT just an IGA. For those Starfleet personnel who have yet to experience an IGA, let me explain that in general, an IGA is a functional but unexceptional retail environment in which humans acquire routine foodstuffs. And certainly, that is possible here. But this IGA improves on the usual model by offering a solid selection of locally produced goods. That includes a shelf full of soaps, coffees and other local delicacies. It also includes a produce section that clearly flags seasonal items from local farms. For those of us here on research missions, that is a huge time-saver. The Evergreen IGA is an excellent place for Starfleet personnel to satisfy their nutritional requirements. It is also a surprisingly useful place to satisfy their curiosity about the products of the Methow Valley.

Nothing says "I come first, the customer comes second" than having the establishment run people out BEFORE the stated closure time. The first question that comes to mind here is, "don't you want my money??" but then I realize there is zero competition so you end up with some of it anyway... The staff are largely, individually, friendly, I'll give them one extra star for that.

The inside of the store itself is quaint and stocked with interesting products and nice souvenirs (such as the mug i bought myself). There are several picnic tables outside to enjoy your food and drink in the sun!

Then after that wait it was an other 20 minute plus wait in the checkout line!! 2 cashiers open with at least 10 people in each line!! Then of course one of the registers froze!! So we shopped, they had excellent selection, great prices, clean store, I got everything I wanted for under $100! We were getting ready to pay, and here comes Peter the cashier. He asked if he could help me find anything, and I was irritated and asked for the self-checkout, but there isn't one here. I was nervous about the virtual card and wanted to flounder with nobody looking because I still struggle with that. However, as I said, there isn't any self check out here, which I would normally love. Anyway, so our items were checked out and it was time to pay. I was having trouble like I thought Peter could tell I was nervous and he shut down his lane without me asking. I really appreciated that he said take your time I couldn't get it and he said I can punch in the number if you need me to and I did and we were able to go to that Safeway ever and thanks Peter!
