My son and I loved this place, weird stuffed animals notwithstanding! We are vacationing in Mazama for a week and hiking. We stopped in Concrete on the way in because we weren't sure what would be available here. We forgot and/ or ran out of a few things and I asked a local the best place to shop and he recommended Hank's. They have a great selection and good weekly specials that don't require a loyalty card which was especially appreciated. The prices were much better than I saw in Concrete and other local stores in the area and I could get organic greens, toiletry items, and decent cheese! read more

HAD SIMPLY ORANGE JUICE gotta say this place was the definition of hick-ville. prices were pretty good. wasn't too busy. the taxidermy was the only thing that "bothered" me. i was scared to get my ice cream! all these exotic animals dead up on display, i was not a big fan! but whatever, what can you do.... Yes, this is a review for a grocery store in Twisp. TWISP? What's Twisp? Well, it is a place near and dear to my heart. Located in the Methow Valley and about 20 miles away from Winthrop, Twisp is home to the BEST FRIED CHICKEN IN THE WORLD! Throw a couple chicken breasts in the cooler on a hot summer day, and enjoy it by the river. I've sat around with my friends, eating fried chicken in our bikinis. It really doesn't get any better than that. Oh, and Hank's is a pretty cool market. Great deli, taxidermy animals, and yes, they honestly do care... just not about my waistline. read more

In a town with not a lot , Hanks was great . We picked up lots of goodies last for our lodge stay ( given the lodge restaurant was high priced blah food ) every employee was so friendly and nice! The lady in deli served my family up some delicious ice cream , she was so friendly ! We had great conversation and she offered us some blue star coffee . It was delicious. read more

We love Hank's! They have great meat, and awesome deals on it. I always stock up here before we head back over the pass. Their homemade beef sticks and sausages are amazing. The smoke cheeses are awesome too. There is lots to see as Hank has many of his animals stuffed, mounted, and on display. Prices are great. Hank's is absolutely one of the best local groceries we have found. Bright, clean, modern, well-stocked, with a nice selection of products and an eat-in deli. This place has the best donuts I have ever had. I will challenge anyone who thinks otherwise. The frosting is amazing and the dough is light and fluffy. Hanks is, hands down the best Grocery store in the Valley. Not to mention Hank himself. He, his wife Judy, and the entire crew will go out of their way to help you. If they don't carry something, just ask and they will do whatever they can to get the product in, guaranteed! We have two grocery stores in this valley, and you couldn't pay me enough to shop at the other one. I am a Hank fan through and through, even the animals displayed in the store seem to say "welcome!" I know, first hand what lengths Hank and his crew will go to to ensure that the customers always come first. If you don't like the dead animals, don't look at them. I moved to Twisp 3 years ago from the San Francisco Bay Area where there are many many markets. Hank's is definitely the best all-around supermarket I've ever had access to. Helpful friendly staff. Amazingly complete and varied selection of food and household products. Good fair prices and there are always sales for times when money is tight. The cleanest market I've ever been in. AND to top it off, Hank offers a decent cup of coffee at 75 cents (recently had to raise the price from 50 cents) along with a pleasant place to sit and drink it. Yes, there are taxidermic specimens of animals and animal heads above the frozen foods cabinets. Hank's hobby is big game hunting. If you are offended don't go in. If you aren't it is a good place to see a lot of different deer species. read more

Had a great visit to twisp, and this awesome grocery helped make our trip great.we stayed nearby in a cabin on the river and hit up this gem of a grocery store almost every day for necessary supplies like beer and jalapeño beef sticks. The selection was great, the produce fresh, and the prices affordable. Weird but I actually look forward to coming back even though it is many hours from home. Try their local products. Hanks It is a destination, not just a grocery store. The fried chicken and Hank's Coleslaw is to die for. Also don't miss trying Hank's bulk Italian sausage. I prepare this by frying, then draining adding to a slow cooker with a can of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato paste some Italian spice cooking for 6-8 hours and serving over pasta. Delicious!!! The perfect combination. We have visited Twisp for six years and never been disappointed. My wife and I stayed in Twisp for a couple of days, in August, during which we purchased food from Hank's. The staff was very friendly, and made us feel welcome and valued. While there we decided that one of the store's rotesserie chickens would be perfect for dinner; however, dinner time was a few hours away. The staff cheerfully offered to put aside a chicken, from the final batch to be cooked that day, for us to pick up at dinner time. We were not charged in advance. When my wife and I showed up at 5:00 p.m., the staff plucked the chicken from one of the food warming enclosures and handed it to me. We appreciated the reliability of the staff and their high-touch customer service. read more
