No one exists at their front desk to answer the phone so I can speak to a representative. Are they all always on break or something?

My family member coming off the ambulance was immediately put into a room to be assessed. A nurse came right in to check on her. The doctor was there soon after to talk to us. Everyone from the security guards at the door to the ones checking us in were all kind and helpful. We will choose concord location from here on out if this level of care is what they give!

Recently, on a Sunday evening, after our daily walk, she complained of unbearable pain in her lower left back. We called the Moraga-Orinda paramedics and they showed up in 3 minutes! She was given pain killers and rushed to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, the closest location for us. At John Muir Emergency Department, she was attended to immediately. The physician, Dr. Kessler, after examining her, immediately opined that it looks like kidney stone! He ordered a CT Scan and a medium to large size kidney stone was confirmed. Dr. Kessler prescribed pain killer, necessary medication and admitted her since the pain was unbearable for her to handle at home. Krystal and Kamala was the first nurse-team we had. They were both excellent, caring and compassionately attended to my wife as often as needed even during the night. After seeing the excruciating pain, they arranged an urologist consulting and a decision was made to do a Ureteroscopy and blast the stone into small fragments/dust. Since this procedure was done only at the Concord location of John Muir, my wife was transported by an excellent ambulance team to Concord location. In Concord, she was given excellent care by RN Mary and RN Emmeline - they were really amazing! My wife needed help often, and the nurses never ever complained (even at night) and helped my wife with a cheerful smile every time! The next two days, she was given outstanding care by Dr. Khan and the nursing team of Sarah and Benjamin. Sarah is very knowledgeable, competent, very compassionate, cheerful and friendly. She followed the protocol strictly for every care-activity and her attention to detail was amazing. For example, she had to check my wife's blood glucose regularly. Every time, Sarah would poke the finger, remove the first drop of blood the comes out with a gauze (since the first drop was in contact with the needle), press the finger to get the next drop and use it to test blood glucose! And, Sarah was training a student nurse and she was painstakingly describing every step of every procedure in great detail to the student while taking excellent care of my wife. The urologist, Dr. Chang, was very friendly, and explained to wife the details of the procedure. His attention to detail was also amazing. Since the kidney stone was in the lest ureter, he used a marker on my wife left leg to highlight that it is the left ureter! The Nurse practitioner from his office, Vivian, scheduled the surgery and communicated with us daily. She showed real concern and empathy for my wife's ordeal. The procedure was successful and the excruciating pain stopped almost immediately afterwards. Dr. Chang had written a detailed description of every step of the procedure in my wife's My Chart - it was comforting to read the detailed report. She was discharged the next day. The care my wife received from the Doctors and Nurses at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek and Concord was consistently excellent - the quick/initial diagnosis at ER, confirmation through CT Scan, excellent execution of the procedure by the Urologist and the awesome care she received from the Nursing Team after the procedure - all outstanding! We have lived in Contra Costa County for over thirty years and have had treatments at John Muir Hospital a few times and we experienced excellence every time! We highly recommend John Muir Hospitals and their outstanding team of Physicians and Nurses.

I had previously made an appointment at a different imaging center and quickly cancelled due to my fear of feeling claustrophobic. I researched open MRI machines and found Medical Insights Diagnostics (Inview Imaging). I scheduled my appointment for a few weeks out and had it today. My appointment was at 10am and I showed up a few minutes prior. I filled out three quick forms and was taken into a changing room where I was able to store my phone, keys, wallet, etc. I was taken into the MRI room and was immediately put at ease with how roomy the open MRI is. I did not have to change into a gown for my scan and I even got to keep my shoes on. I laid down on the table and was given a cushion to go under my legs and two smaller cushions to go next to my head. I was also given ear plugs. I inquired about headphones to listen to music, but because of the scan I was having I was not able to listen to music. Since I was having a brain scan I had to wear a coil over my head, which was comparable to a football helmet. I was handed a "panic ball" that I could squeeze if I needed to be pulled out of the machine and they sent me inside. My scan lasted 20 minutes, but felt much faster. I was able to remain calm the entire time and even opened my eyes a few times. I cannot describe the relief I felt upon finishing my scan and exiting the machine. I grabbed my things, paid, and within 5 minutes I had the CD of the scan. If you have anxiety or claustrophobia I highly recommend coming here for your MRI. The open MRI is spacious and the MRI techs made me feel comfortable. I will be coming back here for any future MRIs.

I Got screwed again. Big big surprise. Once again it was…read moretime for refills on my two blood pressure meds so I don't die. Not narcotics, not anything fun, not anything sellable on the street... just regular-ass blood pressure meds to keep my heart working. I called it in five days in advance of running out. 5 days. When calling it in I was given no push back or any notion that my meds would not be filled. Not a single hint. So after the five days when I'd run out of such meds I went to the pharmacy to pick up my refill. And turns out only one of the refills was sent. They had to give me loaner pills so I don't drop dead. What the hell is even going on with this office? Ever since they became Muir medical group I can't get my medicine refilled ever without some kind of giant hiccup! These aren't narcotics. These are blood pressure pills so I don't croak! This is so insane. The doctors here are very good. I love my doctor! But this office is so screwed up and unorganized, unethical, and doesn't care someone could just die without their meds.... I'm looking for a new dr now after several incidents regarding refilling my blood pressure meds. Enough is enough. Again these doctors rule! But the office has ruined their practice and made it completely terrible. I have family members that go here that have had the same bad experience with trying to get their meds. I have had multiple situations where I need blood pressure meds and they've been so nonchalant and just "they will get refilled when they get refilled" with zero worry about my physical safety. I'm done. Everyone in this office should be examined for termination. This place is a cesspool for garbage and unethical employees. Everything is about dollars and healthcare means nothing at all. If you work here You should all really reflect on the type of person you are and really analyze what you're okay with. Are you okay with a normal guy dying from cardiac arrest over a mistake you made involving med refills? You are all just cool with a dude dying of a heart attack. This office is the worst thing of the worst. I urge you not to go here. Again, the doctors here rule!!!! But the office is run by nimrods.

I want to acknowledge the people who were wonderful: the intake nurse was kind, Kimberly was absolutely amazing, and the security officer was very helpful and compassionate. Unfortunately, one nurse, Megan, completely changed the experience. Megan was passing by and told me I had to wait in the waiting area. I understand that there are policies, but there is a right way and a wrong way to communicate with people. A simple explanation and a little empathy would have gone a long way. I waited 3 hours in the waiting room. My daughter was in pain, on crutches, and crying. She asked to go to the bathroom and couldn't even open the door. Megan, why didn't you help her? Isn't that exactly the kind of basic assistance and compassion a patient should be able to expect from a nurse? My daughter was vulnerable, hurting, and scared. It is absolutely not okay to treat a patient in that condition like she's an inconvenience. Then I had to take an Uber to the hotel to get her medication and come back. I asked security if I could give the medication to her. Megan came outside, asked what medication she was taking, and then said, "I'll order them." Seriously? If you had simply listened to me and explained that from the beginning, I could have avoided making an unnecessary trip back and forth. I also went to the front desk because I wanted to file a complaint and was told they didn't have a phone number for me to call to make a complaint. That is unbelievable. And then Megan told my daughter that her mom could come inside but couldn't be mean to the staff. Megan, we didn't come to the ER for you. We came because my daughter needed medical care. Your attitude, lack of empathy, and the way you spoke to us were completely unnecessary. A nurse is supposed to provide care, comfort, support, and advocacy for patients when they are at their most vulnerable. Unfortunately, Megan was not that at all. My daughter was there because she needed help annot attitude or judgment. Shame on you, Megan. Thankfully, Kimberly showed us what compassionate nursing actually looks like. She listened to my daughter, helped her, and made her feel heard and seen as a patient. I will always appreciate her for that. This isn't about expecting special treatment or asking staff to break rules. It's about basic human decency, empathy, and patient care. You can enforce policies and still be kind. You can set boundaries without making patients or their families feel like a nuisance. My daughter came to the ER because she needed help. She deserved better.
