The waiting room is like the DMV. Many people talking loudly, crowded and busy. Not relaxing or inviting as you are about to have a surgical procedure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I was called back I was asked to give a urine sample. I informed the person who asked that I hadn't menstruated for over 7 years but she still insisted. I was shocked and refused.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The woman (she didn't tell me her name or position and did not wear a name tag) then took my blood pressure as she asked me questions, did not offer a way to raise my arm ( using a table or holding my arm up). The reading was way off my typical numbers and I asked her to redo the testing. She said "no it's fine," and refused to redo it. The lady then started walking out and didn't give me further directions. I asked if I should put on the medical robe that was left on the table and she said yes. She was curt, rude and not professional. The bathroom and pre- procedure room were dirty and deteriorated. I saw dirt on the ground and on the walls. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was not properly introduced to any of the staff members whose was shocking. None of them wore name tags! I didn't know if I was talking to a nurse, tech, or doctor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I was brought to the procedure room, nobody even turned around to acknowledge I was in the room, no less say hi or introduce themselves.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A man walked up and said "enjoy your nap" and began to put (what I expected to be) a sedative. I have no idea what his position was, again because no name tag or introduction. I asked what he was giving me because he did not tell me. This was appalling. Also, nobody checked my name tag, asked to confirm what procedure I was having, or asked who I was when I came in. Overall, the surgery center was unprofessional, unsanitary, and unacceptable. If you are reading this before having a procedure, I urge you to go somewhere else. read more

If you are reading this, I highly recommend to you, DO NOT go to this place. I had a procedure here on Friday 6/20/2025 and I wish I read the reviews ahead of time (and I will own half of that responsibility). The prep room is the dirtiest I have ever seen at a medical facility. One of the medical techs (or nurse) asked me to take off all my clothes and I was asked to sit on an old blue reclining chair that did not appear sterile with only a gown exposed where my rear is exposed to this old reclining chair. I was barefoot on this dirty floor and the medical tech/nurse reluctantly gave me disposable booties I asked for more than once. She then disappeared never to see her again. After waiting in this chair for around 45 minutes, I was then asked by the anesthesiologist to walk to the operating table, which I struggled to get on. Then I was knocked out with the anesthesia. The procedure was complete and I don't remember much other than feeling rushed to my ride to take me home. When I got home, I noticed I had these red bumps all over my forehead and under my eyes. I made a point to clean myself as much as I can. These red bumps got worse over the weekend and by Monday 6/23/2025 I had a 102 degree fever and nasty cough with phlegm. I called my doctor and he prescribed antibiotics. By Tuesday 6/24/2025 I started to feel an itchy/burning sensation all over my nose and lips. I found out that these are cold sores all over my face (something I have not experienced before). I suspect I got these from the recliner or the pillow in the operating room (that appeared reused). I consulted with my primary care doctor and prescribed Acyclovir. The lack of sanitation and lack of competent medical techs/nurses that were too busy gossiping about their other coworkers (yes, I and other patients heard everything in the prep room) will eventually cause someone serious injury (or worse) some day. It is just a matter of time unless this facility get their act together (I have my doubts this will happen based on the other reviews I read). Please, DO NOT go here (Premier Surgery Center in Concord). Do your research, read the other reviews and do your due diligence (something I did not due). I recommend having your surgical procedure at a hospital where they appear to still have some rules in safety and sanitation/sterile environments. read more

This was my first ever surgery and I will be honest - the reviews on here made me nervous about going here. However, my experience was the complete opposite of the negative reviews here. My mom drove me to my surgery and we were first welcomed by a lady who I believe was named Beatrice at the front door. She was incredibly kind and helpful and answered our questions about when and where my mom could be with me. She was the first person I encountered and already eased my nerves from the Yelp reviews. Thank you! Next we checked in and the check-in process was quick and seamless. We waited in the waiting room for maybe 15 minutes. It wasn't too long before I was then taken back to the pre-opp area. My mom wasn't able to go with me there. The women who helped me in the pre-opp area were also very kind and patient and helped ease my nerves as I explained to them this was my first ever surgery and I was nervous. The lady who did my IV (also my first time ever for that) was very calming. I was also given a blanket in this room in case I got cold. I didn't have wait very long before Morgan came to take me to the operation room. She was very friendly and explained to the anesthesiologist that I was nervous about going under. They were both great and one second I was listening to Green Day and the next, I was being woken up and transported to the post-opp area. The ladies who helped me in post-opp were constantly there, checking in on me, giving me medicine, applesauce and ice chips. Before I knew it, I was being wheeled down to meet my mom to go home for recovery. This place is an outpatient center. While it did move quickly, I never once felt rushed and everyone was friendly, kind and patient. They definitely have a system and I thought it worked well. I have been both a patient and the spouse of a patient who had procedures at the Premier Surgery Center. The surgery center is always busy with long waits and very little information sharing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Some of the staff are friendly and personable, others, not so much.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Arrived at 0600 this morning and didn't see the doctor arrive until 0700. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No information on the approximate start time or length of time the procedure was expected to take.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Got a call about 0900 saying to have the car out front in about 40 minutes to pick up my spouse who was in recovery.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not a great experience for me, hope my spouse (the patient) had a better experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, your choices are limited to where your doctor performs surgery. read more

I'm here (waiting) in the parking lot after having taken my uncle to a 10:30am colonoscopy appointment. It is 2:00pm and we are still here. We waited an hour and half before he was even taken back for the procedure. And people who arrived well after us were taken back before him. Now, two hours after him going back to have a procedure that takes only 25 minutes, they still have not brought him back out. By now, I could have left the premises, gone and seen a full movie or done all my grocery shopping and taken a long lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It would have been nice if the staff had communicated what I could actually expect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My time is valuable and it was totally taken advantage of. For a procedure that requires patients to be picked up by a person, this is grossly inconsiderate of wage workers or anyone who just can't afford to be away from the job for long. Not cool, Premier Surgery, not cool. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What communication I did receive was poor[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]/ [[HIGHLIGHT]]They called me a full hour ago to tell me he would be brought out in 20 minutes. I called after having waited 35 minutes and they told me he would be out in 10. That was a full 25 minutes ago and a full 40 minutes since they said he would be ready.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They wanted me to sit in my car in the parking lot and be ready. 3.5 hours (and counting!) for a colonoscopy appointment is, objectively, insane. read more

It was a nightmare! I should have read the reviews before I made my appointment for my colonoscopy. She didn't introduce herself, took me to pre op, she took my blood pressure over my sweatshirt which read 179/100, She stated " that it was ok!", so I told her no! My BP does not run that high!! The O2 oximetry did not even read properly because it was broken and proceeded to document the reading anyway. She proceeded to put an IV in my hand and so I finally asked her if she was a nurse and she confirmed it. She then connected the IV fluids with AiR bubbles in the tubing and stated that was okay!! So finally I told her I was a nurse too & to prime the line again! She left my bedside and had another nurse came in to switch the IV line. So I asked another nurse that came in to Assist me and stated her name was Theresa. She was very rude and unprofessional! Then went in procedure room and the anesthesiologist does not introduce himself and just puts oxygen on me and proceeded to give me medication for sedation. No compassionate care whatsoever. Next colonoscopy will be at JMH concord, where I know we treat our patients with compassion, dignity, and respect! FYI Also, my belongings got misplaced! read more

I had my first colonoscopy procedure with them. The process was fast and efficient. The problem was that I ended up leaving behind my Apple watch because I was sedated, and apparently it was also my fault because they make you sign a waiver that makes them unaccountable for lost items-- something that they didn't verbally inform me prior to the procedure. I admit that I browsed past that part of the paperwork they handed to me. Even so, the person who woke me up and wheeled me to my ride should have went through my belongings to ensure I had all my items before leaving the facility. There should have been a checklist. How could you expect a sedated person to remember important details? What could have been a pleasant experience is now a $400 lesson in never trusting your medical health providers with your valuables. My next colonoscopy will happen ten years from now. Premier Surgery Center is a well-oiled machine, but still personal. Check-in was easy, the team of nurses inside were attentive, polite, clear in explanations, in good moods and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. Morgan, RN BSN put my IV in my hand, I didn't even know it went in! She could tell I had anxiety about the general anesthesia, this was my first time. She calmed me down, and made me so comfortable. The anesthesiologist, Eric was clear and friendly, told him about the nausea concern, I was out like within a minute and woke up clear headed and perfectly fine. At the end, before I headed out the door, the doctor reports were printed out and given to me. "Service" training is truly embraced here. Morgan, RN BSN charge nurse was Amazing! read more

No "Covid" excuse for us. No excuse at all, just a blunt "you don't come in". [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's pretty obvious that the customer service lacks, well, "customer service".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not only was I offended, I was offered absolutely no explanation as to why I was "shooed" away from the waiting room and provided a wooden bench or plastic chair outside the door, also outside the building.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I saw the waiting room when the door opened, it was huge, full of empty chairs and had approximately 5 people in it. Of course I had the option to go sit in my car in the parking garage. The elevator was broken, I got stuck in there with an alarm ringing for several minutes. I was allowed to use the restroom in the back of the office. It was filthy. Exactly what one wants when in a medical facility. Is there no shame? Honestly! Of course there is nothing better than the fresh air, birds chirping, car brakes squealing and the vision of a homeless dude walking around the building, eventually taking a nap in a flower bed with his blanket. The only shining stars were the person who called me to advise [[HIGHLIGHT]]the procedure was over and the person who wheeled my person out, very polite and nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. At the end of March 2024, Dr. Prem Chahal, dba Diablo Digestive Care, scheduled me to have a colonoscopy at Premier Surgery Center. The whole experience was like a "cattle call." You're herded into pre-op and put behind a curtain. Nurses come rushing in giving you a fast memorized spiel. They ask you questions, take your vitals, set up the IV and tell you to take off all your clothing except socks and put on a gown. The nurse setting up the IV on top of my hand really hurt me--Ouch! Later, I had a hematoma that covered half the top of my hand and several inches below my wrist bone (see photo). After about 30 minutes, I was wheeled into a room with beds separated by curtains. A man came in, never said a word to me . . . I guess he connected the IV to the Propofol. It seemed like 1 second passed, but the procedure was already done--I never saw Dr. Chahal before the procedure started. He stopped by for a few seconds when I was just coming out of sedation. He held up some papers, said a few words (which I was not lucid enough to process) and then put the papers on the bed tray and took off. Later, I told the nurse I needed to talk to him; I wanted to know what happened during the procedure. She ignored my request. She said I had to get the air out of my colon. Well, it wasn't coming out and it was painful. She tried multiple stunts to get the air out--pushing on my abdomen, lay on left side, lay on right side, put a long tube inside of me, walk me around the room, sit on the toilet--I was crying through the whole ordeal. She told me, "If you don't get the air out you'll have to go to the ER, stay over night, and have a scope inserted into your colon." (Is this a threat?) After some air came out she took me back to pre-op, got my clothes out of a locker and wouldn't let me dress myself. She seemed to be in a big hurry to get me out of there. I asked her if her shift had ended. She removed the IV, slapped a cotton ball and piece of tape on my hand, but blood started dripping on the floor. I guess they don't use band-aids any more? I was put in a wheelchair and taken to the parking garage where my daughter was waiting for me. The whole experience was a living nightmare. I've been to many surgery centers in the Bay Area and always had a caring experience until now. I will never go to this surgery center again. read more

Like many others, I had a "surprise billing" almost two years after a procedure I had at their not so good surgery center in Concord, CA. Almost TWO YEARS later!! What kind of nonsense is this? I had a procedure done on 1/11/21, and then just yesterday they tried to bill me for $200.00. And, they have been very beligerant about it - their staff will lie to your face about what this is about, and demand you prove you've covered all your costs for the procedure. So, with these clowns you are guilty until you prove you don't owe them any money. I told them I'm not paying a bill that old, and I have filed an official complaint with the state medical board. This is an extremely common practice with this predatory and decietfull organization and I highly recommend that you do not go there, and in particular tell any Doctor that sends you there that because of their predatory billing practices you will not go there. I was shocked as a retired health care professional I was shocked at the cattle run feel of this center. Constant flow of patients in pre op , I was brought back 1 1/2 hours prior to my surgery prepped , asked if I wanted a blanket while waiting in a sheet covered recliner, but the nurse never returned plus took three starts for IV and found my surgery extremely painful. Dr Chen has helped me out 3 times with my back injections. he is very knowledgeable and makes sure everything goes really smooth. He cares for his patients. He walks you through everything that's going on. I couldn't be any happier. My back is not in pain anymore. I am pain-free. I highly recommend him and all of his staff. They are very helpful. I have been here 4 times in the last 6 months. This place is like what others said - a place that runs you through as fast as they can. However, I find that they are handcuffed by asinine process that bogs down the system leaving patients waiting for hours. The staff and nurses are rude and they only thing good are the doctors (that come from the outside). Someone needs to seriously fix this place, lack of tech (how many times to do I have wrote my meds down?), or the lack of bedside manners and empathy will kill off this place for good. read more

I had to walk myself with my IV over to the operating room; that was a first. I left my belongings behind because no one came to lock them up. I wear a Timex so my watch wasn't stolen like another patient. I ended up with extra incisions and red welts all over my face from the tape they put on. No one talked to me about the procedure afterwards - also a first - so I don't know why/how any of this happened. I know health care is all about maximizing profit these days, but this place is the worse than most. They clearly prioritize getting as many of us in and out as fast as possible. read more

This is a an outpatient surgical center shared by several doctors and practices for procedures as needed. I understand from the business perspective that this allows providers to maintain multiple offices yet keep their equipment and procedure room costs down by renting the space and services they need as they need them. I have found the staff to be nothing short of professional and nothing short of as wonderful as one could expect. Heads up to those looking for parking. There is parking underneath the building, you enter from the side street farthest from the hospital. Spaces are very tight so take your time and be careful trying to squeeze into something that's too small for your car. Bottom line, folks are nice, accommodations are comfortable and I wish you luck with the reasons you need to come here. One last note. They offer you a Capri Sun to drink in recovery, ask about the flavors first in case you may not like their first choice. Sorry, but I'm not a big fan of strawberry kiwi. read more

I have never been to a more unprofessional medical center before in my life. The talk between staff was loud and offensive. F bombs dropped several times. They bring you in a waiting area to prep for your procedure one after another. I heard two of the staff speaking about a older gentleman when he went in for his procedure like he was a dog and a bother it was gross. After my procedure in the recovery area the nurses were speaking horribly about the doctors. I like my doctor unfortunately if I was ever in need of another procedure here its a pass. This place is like a mill - they seem more interested in hurrying you through than providing good care. My wife and I are both retired healthcare professionals. The staff are good, but just do what they're told. Last week, my wife had an endoscopy. Neither her MD (Fang) or the anesthesiologist spoke to her either before or after the procedure. My experience in better surgery centers is the anesthesiologist introduces himself and takes a brief history while you are waiting to be wheeled in. You chat briefly with both doctors while they get you ready and administer the anesthetic. Then the MD says a few words about what he found when you're in recovery. She had so much gas pains afterward, she had to wait in recovery for another 30 minutes. Today she had a colonoscopy. Neither her MD or the anesthesiologist spoke to her before or after the procedure. The room was pretty cold and no one offered her a warm blanket. Just in and out like before. She saw neither either of the MDs involved. After recovery, her throat was so sore from the tube she could barely talk. She had stomach pain and a terrible headache. No one called to follow up to see how she was doing. Really terrible practice. If your MD insists on this surgery center, my advice would be to change MDs. The Aspen Surgery Center at John Muir WC is so much better run. read more

My husband had Rhinoplasty last Friday with Dr. Mele, and this was the outpatient surgical center where the procedure was going to take place. This has been the second time we've been to this location. We arrived at 6:30am, and the place was not crowded, although there were some people already in the waiting room. The receptionist was nice and gave us documents to fill out. When it was time for my husband to prep for surgery, we were sent upstairs where a nurse was waiting for us. The initial nurse who helped us, was very nice and calming. So sad I don't remember her name. My husband has a huge hear of needles, and she was very comforting and distracting that my husband didn't notice when the IV needle went in! We then met with the Anesthesiologist. He was very nice and informative. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the post-procedure nurse who helped us. Although the second nurse was very nice, she wasn't extremely helpful when it came to helping my husband as the anesthesia was wearing off. The thing that bothered me the most, was that I had to tell her to put a gauze under his nose as we were preparing to leave. Like hello, my husband had just had Rhinoplasty, and blood was coming out of his nose and you were just going to send us home? Common sense to make sure blood isn't spilling down his face every time he speaks. I felt like the nurse during the hour and a half we were at the center. The waiting room is comfortable to say the least. When I arrived back at around 9:30am, the parking lot was super crowded. Keep in mind that the parking lot is fairly small, and I didn't see any other place to park. After two rounds, I found a spot. So be mindful if you arrive in the morning and have to leave as the patient gets there procedure done. read more

Had a procedure there in March 2021. The staff was alright and the procedure went fine. Fast forward to June of 2022. I receive a bill for $298. After numerous calls which were never returned and then many emails back & forth (not to mention the phone calls to my supplemental insurance Co), I discover PSC didn't even submit a bill until May of 2022 & they sent it to the wrong office. After several more emails back & forth they finally agreed to resubmit it to the correct office. The insurance company denied it because it was submitted outside of the acceptable time frame (15 months). I told PSC I wasn't paying the $298 as it wasn't my fault they didn't submit it to the right insurance office. They had my insurance cards which had the correct address. If you have a procedure here make sure you follow up with your insurance to make sure they've been billed. I won't go there again. read more

Went here for a colonoscopy.... After I did the prep for two days....... With the issues the dr thought I had he felt it would be a wise precaution. After the colonoscopy I was told I needed to have another one as I was not cleaned out enough? What the hell.... As I was waiting for my turn in the waiting room I heard other patients tell family members the exact same thing? Not thinking it would happen to me since I was doing prep for two days and boom... it did. Then something caught my wife's attention while she has been at work as a nurse..... many other patients (6+) saying the same thing. Then came yesterday had a service tech at my house who sent a video camera into inspect my sewer pipes. I made the joke that my house was getting a colonoscopy... he said better the house than him and he told me of a similar issue with premier surgery center..... why would so many patients have the same exact isssue..... billable hours.... Sounds like a money making scheme.... read more

I should have looked elsewhere when the receptionist always seemed very rushed/stressed when I called. Unfortunately, this rushed/stressed feeling wasn't limited to the phone calls. I understand being in a hurry, but doctors, nurses, and staff need to think more about their patients at Premier Surgery Center. I was rushed in the procedure room for my colonoscopy and there was so much commotion in the room, it was unlike anything I've experienced. A calm hello and smile from the doctors/nurses would have been appreciated. This was my first colonoscopy and following the procedure my doctor, Dr. Jenny Jew, simply did a "3 second fly by" to tell me "oh we found some polyps" ... umm... what happened to taking 2 minutes with your patient and talking TO me???! I get that this is routine for her, but it's NOT routine for me. From start to finish, this was the worst experience I've had in a hospital for any type of procedure. I will never go back. read more

How come your nose runs but your feet smell? The day came where I had to go under to get my nose readjusted on my face. Noses are in the middle of your face because they like to be the scenter of attention. I had to come in before the sun rose to check in. Its so calm and quiet in the waiting area. Nothing like starting your day off knowing you'll be put under for surgery and a days of pain to look forward to. I was then called in to the preop area and changed my clothes into a hairnet, booties and the oh so fabulous backless gown. It's quite the outfit. Especially for something that will be happening on my face. The nurse at the beginning was very sweet and we all had a good laugh and I again had to tell the story of why my nose broken. And again she was amazed by it. This time my boyfriend was there to fill in a few details that I didn't really remember. After all I was the on who got knocked in the face. I was then whisked away to the OR. I maybe saw my Dr. for 2 minutes before I was pleasantly put to sleep like Michael Jackson took naps. I awoke in the post opp room. It was a different nurse there who again was so pleasant to wake up to. They even brought my man back to the room before I was brought back so that he was there when I did wake up. I've said it once Ill say it again. Going under for surgery is like time travel. I love it. There was a funny little cast on the bridge of my nose and it was packed with weird little absorbent gel stuff. I had a piece of gauze taped to my face for 3 days. For a long time I thought my nose was bleeding but it's snot. Its back in place and everyone I ask says that I look totally normal and they couldn't tell that I once had a sideways nose. My Dr. did an awesome job. What do you call a nose with no body? Nobody knows. read more

The frantic speed staff operates at , the loud music in the operating room, the extra loud voices of staff trying to speak over the loud music was absolutely horrible. I had a 40 minute ride home in more pain then when I went in. Speed is this center's priority and patient care is substandard. The nurses and staff make sure that they do everything possible and are concerned to help you the best way they can concerning blood pressure and diabetes. Had my very fist epidural steroid injection today and had a very pleasant experience. In my honest opinion, reviews are based off of expectations. If you know anything about expectations, you know not to set any because the minute you do, you will surely be let down. I thoroughly read through the reviews to get a good understanding of the pros and cons so there were no surprises. The front desk staff were not "unfriendly" or "rude" nor were they super "warm and fuzzy"; they are very busy with what was already a waiting room full of people. I had an 8:15am arrival and they were diligently multitasking to keep all doctors and rooms flowing on schedule. When I approached the staff with a completely off the subject question, the staff was very friendly to answer thoroughly and politely. The bulk of my wait was in the waiting room for about 45 minutes but my procedure wasn't scheduled until 9:15am so the 1 hour arrival was doing paperwork and waiting for my procedure time. There were no horribly uncomfortable waiting room chairs either; and while waiting 1 1/2 years on workers comp to finally approve the ESI, I know what living in pain is! Once taken back to pre-op, my attending nurse was April and I just loved her. You are prepped in an oversized comfy leather recliner. There are curtains separating the few patients inside very similar to what separates patients in the ED. "Efficient" yes, "assembly line" no, the attending staff is much too compassionate for that label. One of my procedure nurses came to escort me into the room and all 3 nurses inside were very friendly and informative. I knew everything that was happening beforehand and it was over before I knew it, 20 my mutes tops. Dr. Johnson did a fantastic job and I didn't feel anything more than what I can only compare to a 5 second extremely mild bee sting (bees hurt much worse!). Then I was wheeled off to recovery where I was offered water and crackers. My ride was able to join me there for the 20 minutes I waited. Then I was wheeled out to the car and assisted inside. Personally, I like effective time management and that's exactly what this place does. I'd much rather be in and out so that I can rest at home than be cooped up n a hospital or similar setting. read more
