They care about the projects as if they were building it for themselves. Ricky goes above and beyond for his customers. There are other contractors who look for ways to 'cut corners', or save on project costs by using cheaper materials where it may not be noticed, however NSBCC uses high quality materials even in areas the homeowner might not ever see. One thing that really impressed me in the years I've know Ricky and Jay is the knowledge they possess in building custom homes and building on the beach, which has its own unique challenges. These guys are experts, craftsmen, and some of the finest people I've had the pleasure to know.

I feel very fortunate and blessed to be a part of such a value-added company with top-notch integrity. Sadly, on July 12th, there was a fire in the complex, which caused serious damage to two of the apartment buildings, including mine. My apartment was located directly below the source of the fire but from the outside, appeared to have evaded the most serious damage (residents such as myself were not permitted to enter the building at any point after the fire was extinguished). For nearly a week following the fire, my roommates and I anxiously waited to find out if any of our possessions had survived the fire and the resulting water damage from firefighters putting out the blaze. Finally, on Saturday July 18th, Tivoli hired Coastal Reconstruction to enter the condemned buildings on residents' behalf and attempt to retrieve whatever was salvageable from inside. The crew that came out could not have been any more kind, understanding, and helpful. My roommates and I primarily interacted with John and David, who were both exceptionally nice. Both of them took the time to explain the condition of our apartment as well as to retrieve as many intact items as possible. For fire victims, this care and attention to detail was an incredible relief. Besides recovering many irreplaceable items, the crew provided us with information about what was not retrievable and why and explained the next steps in the demolition and reconstruction process. Coastal Reconstruction may be in the contractor/construction business, but they went above and beyond that by offering help, sympathy, and closure to me and my roommates after our home was destroyed. Coastal's employees are as empathetic as they are good at their job, and I highly recommend their services for anyone who's suffered a disaster.

I don't quite know where to begin, so let's start at the beginning. We met with Bob pre-Covid and…read moregot ideas and had him measure to build a proposal for a cabinet/countertop remodel for our home. He was very professional and obviously an experienced salesman/designer. We came up with a nice plan for cabinets, sink and expanded island (with peninsula). We went "on hold" due to Covid, but revisited and contracted in October. RED FLAG #1- FDR required a 60% deposit at the contract signing and PAYMENT IN FULL for each portion of the job as it proceeds. (When the cabinets are delivered-payment in full is due before installation. Countertop doesn't come off the truck before they're paid in full for that portion). I've learned from past experience to ALWAYS keep a meaningful hold-back to "incentivize" a contractor to complete a job . No hold-back, no leverage to complete in a timely manner. Without writing a novel, suffice it to say that I had many issues with their subs and their own installers. Every step of the way, I had to call their "scheduler and logistics person" Teresa numerous times to get on a schedule for install and/or repair of errors. Emails and return phone calls late night, on weekends to arrange for NEXT MORNING arrivals. Cabinet installers working on a Sunday to "keep on schedule", electricians at the job at 8pm, so as not to delay the plumber (who had to be called back three times to complete the work without leaks or errors). An extended disagreement regarding the support and appearance of our oversized quartz peninsula that finally was resolved. We had to be that never-ending "squeaky wheel" to get the job completed to our satisfaction. I was fortunate enough that they had made a small error and I owed them a l balance towards the end , or the job may have taken even longer than the two additional months that it had already overrun. The communication with "scheduling" was horrible. At times bordering on rude and belittling. I must say, however that all issues which we took up with ownership or our designer were quickly addressed. The completed project? It looks great and we're very happy with the final result. There were times where I felt that I was paying for a general contractor but doing the lion's share of supervision and quality control on my own. We decided to skip their tile services for the backsplash. We saved about 1/3 the cost by purchasing the tile on our own and hiring a "tile guy". Would we use them again? Possibly, as the work was more than acceptable when it was finally completed. I would certainly require a different payment structure, as well as some built-in scheduling guarantees and/or penalties if not adhered to.

Dave worked with us to come up with a beautiful and functional design. the work was done while we were in NY and everything came out even better than we could have hoped. There was an issue with some tile we wanted to use and Dave made an alternate suggestion that turned out just right. When we got here there was a slight problem with the toilet that got fixed immediately. Customer service couldn't be better.

I was not instructed to bring photos or measurements. Karrinne told me on the phone I was to come there and could "look at pictures." I incorrectly assumed so that she could get an idea of my style preferences. Anyway, I did have my ipad with me and we looked at stored Zillow photos of the space. I was told the next step was for me to provide a $500 retainer so that she could come to my home with pre-selected finish material samples. I indicated that I wanted someone to measure and provide a quote within a $10,000 range so that we could compare bids and select a contractor. That I wanted to do that before even moving into the realm of finishes. She said "no, we do not do hours of 3D modeling for people who ultimately don't have the right budget." I said that I understood and was not looking for her to do extensive modeling. I also was very clear in that we had a $50,000 budget and wanted mid-grade products. She took my ipad and showed it to her estimator, came back and said, "there's a chance we could do it for $50,000." I was so disappointed and upset that I took time off of work to have such a dismal experience. I completely understand that they cannot accommodate extensive planning free of charge, but providing a quote is a core competency that cannot be skipped. Nor am I interested in pre-selected finishes prior to you seeing my space, understanding my style, or the decor of the home in general. Definitely would not suggest a visit with them unless you have time to spare and don't care what your design style is.
