A2Z Builders - Full Home Remodel

    A2Z Builders

We had an outstanding experience with A2Z Builders and our project manager, Noam Bar-On…read more They transformed the unfinished portion of our basement -- which previously had bare concrete floors, an awkward HVAC unit hanging in the middle of the ceiling (that I constantly bumped my head on), and a poorly defined utility area -- into a thoughtfully designed, highly functional space. What was once an uncomfortable, underutilized area is now a beautiful basement with a dedicated office, a workout space, and a much better-sized, well-organized utility room. In addition, they replaced all of our carpet with hardwood floors throughout the main level, and the results are amazing. The craftsmanship and finish quality exceeded our expectations -- the house feels completely elevated and refreshed. Noam was exceptional throughout the entire process. He worked closely with me on the overall design, offered smart and practical solutions, and truly understood what we were trying to accomplish. He came by daily to make sure every detail was executed correctly and was always attentive, responsive, and proactive. His hands-on approach gave us a lot of confidence that the project would turn out right -- and it absolutely did. I can't say enough good things about Noam and the A2Z team. If you're looking for a contractor who is thoughtful, detail-oriented, and genuinely cares about the final result with a great value, I highly recommend them.

I contacted A2Z for a pretty big garage repair and I am so glad I went with this company. They got…read moreme a detailed quote pretty quickly and were well within the range that other companies I talked to estimated the cost would be. They were patient with me while I worked with the insurance company and even let me know that they have a department in-house that will handle that part for you. When everything was set on my end they went to work right away and did an amazing job. There was a delay getting a window delivered but they kept me in the loop and answered all my check-ins and they got the window installed as soon as it arrived. Everyone I talked to was so kind, I've never experienced such quality service in the construction field. I look forward to working with them again in the future.

The result is fantastic. They're not the cheapest but they're very good…read more We used A Flores to do a massive project before we moved into a new home. It included engineered hardwood and porcelain tile flooring, Nuage slab counters everywhere, sinks, faucets, toilets... We did use outside electricians and painters, which we were told had to wait an entire week while the hardwood floors guy did his thing. I was texted a message by A Flores himself that the dude would straight up walk off the job if anyone else were there at the same time, even if they weren't interfering with his work. Because of this person's refusal to play nice with others, we had to stay in a hotel an additional week while the other work (baseboards, painting) got finished. I can't give five stars to this business, even though the owner is EXTREMELY clear when communicating and he'll never leave your messages hanging, waiting for a response. I did not like being responsible for buying/picking every single thing (sinks, faucets, a ton of flooring, caulk color) and it would've been nice to have had higher quality suggestions made so that I didn't feel I had to find my own materials. They did a great job on our niche, which has thinks like rounded ceramic tiles instead of the vile shluter thing that they had been planning on doing. There was also quite an issue with getting a double full bullnose edge to the counters: I assumed they were going to do that but they basically nickel and dimed us to get it the way we wanted. Lesson: be extremely careful when your project has a lot of moving parts (and people).

I had A Flores tackle a whole list of projects in my townhouse and honestly, they delivered every…read moretime. Countertops, backsplash, paint, popcorn ceiling removal, new metal stair rails, a full bathroom remodel, and they even turned an old coat closet into a pantry for us. Everything came out exactly how I pictured it. Pricing was fair, they stayed pretty close to schedule, and the work itself is just solid, quality stuff. They also went above and beyond on a few extra asks along the way, no complaints, Honestly hard to find someone this good across so many different types of work. Would hire them again in a second and recommend them to anyone who needs stuff done right.

D.Masonry - The scary pillar Before-and-After. (1930's "clinker" brick is supposed to look uneven)

And I called one other company for a second bid. David showed up in time for our appointment, and his explanation of the problem (80 year old mortar in our brick house was falling out). The previous owner had gotten some of it repaired. That mortar was failing, too. I was particularly concerned because one pillar that carries a heavy load was cracked so badly (see photo) that you could see daylight through it from top to bottom. David explained why it had failed, and how the repair work someone had done years ago made matters worse. His bid that was about the same price as the other firm, but his explanation -- and the bid itself -- were so clear that D. Masonry was my obvious choice. He provided me with proof of insurance, too, a request the other company ignored. They lived up to my high expectations. Watching them work, I realized that tuck pointing is a highly skilled craft, practically an art form. They took the time to mix and try a range of mortar colors. With their help, we selected the one they advised. Now that the new mortar has completely dried, I can see it is a perfect color match. The pillar I was so nervous about? They elaborately jacked up and stabilized things, so they could remove the pillar, which they disassembled completely, laying out all the bricks (with all the old mortar removed), so they could put them back exactly as they were, only sturdy now, and good as new. Masonry repairs -- done well -- simply disappear when the work is done, right? As long as I own this house, my gratitude for this job-well-done will live on.
