End of the Nature Trail
Rochelle M.

It was a lovely visit to the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden -- always free admission and parking! Before our walk, we first enjoyed our lunch at the covered picnic area. Then at the garden entrance we reviewed the map and picked up a guide. The husband chose to start with the Nature Trail. Even though it was a warm day, the many trees kept most of the trail cool. There were numerous benches for breaks and a nice breeze in some areas. After the Nature Trail, we then took a relaxing walk through the Trail of Trees and the Specialty Gardens. Our steps total was 3.4 miles. :) The signage is great -- there was no confusion as we navigated the grounds. The amount of plant and wildlife information along the paths were just enough to keep things interesting. The adjacent park and playground are clean and well maintained. Parking was surprisingly easy for a Saturday.

Bunnies everywhere!

One of my favorite places to hike, walk, breathe, meditate, write, think and heal. I always feel good being there and for a few days afterward. There's magic here that cannot be explained. The nature, trees, lizards, birds, bunnies, squirrels and the breeze or fog all are a pleasure to see and experience. If you're looking for calmness and serenity this is Mecca. Highly recommended.

Which way to go!!

I don't know about YOU.... But I LOVE the outdoors. Sure, I love sitting on my big booty like the rest of you watching Netflix, Hulu, Prime, Apple TV+, Peacock, Disney+, Max, Paramount+ and yes, even Tubi... Ohh please, like you're not password sharing just so you can say you have all of these streaming services just like we do ;) But despite all the dramatic, gritty, binge-worthy shows out there, nothing will ever compare to being outdoors. Being able to feel the sun on your skin, sit back & smell the flowers and to just be one with nature... Is something that watching episode after episode of Breaking Bad, the Game of Thrones, Presumed Innocent or even Yellowstone will ever match. And the best thing about Nature... You don't really have to go too far to find it. For me, despite living in a mid-sized suburb; we are lucky enough to be surrounded by nature. From a Regional Park with miles and miles of Nature Hikes, Waterfalls and various Wildlife to a Botanical Garden tucked in between a residential neighborhood... Nature is just a hop, a skip & a jump away. And since we are talking about Nature, let's get right to it and have a little talk about... The Birds & the Bee's (Don't worry, it's not what you think) The Birds... The Conejo Valley Botanic Garden not only showcases a vast array of plants, flowers, shrubs & trees, but they also house a bird habitat that attracts both local and migratory birds which provides fresh water to the various avian population that live and pass through the area. The Bee's... Where Nature vs. Nurture join forces. Let me explain. It was June 12th 2023... There we were, on a family hike, admiring the beautiful flowers, taking in the picturesque views, listening to the buzz of nature... Wait? What's that buzzing? And WHY is it getting louder?? Are those bee's??? Suddenly, and I'm not exaggerating.... A swarm of about 1,000 bees was coming straight for us!! Suddenly, my instincts kicked in. Nature was like....Run!!!! Nurture was like... Runnnn, but FASTER!!!! So I immediately picked up my two little girls, who were then 5 and 3 years old, told my then 7 month pregnant wife to run... (as quickly as possible of course) And we "Bee-Lined" it out of there! (Pun intended). All joking aside, it was a little terrifying witnessing my little girls frightened faces and my wife's motherly instinct suddenly go all Mama Bear to get her and our unborn baby girl to safety. But hey, we made it out alive to tell about it, and we now have a new appreciation for natures unpredictable beauty. Approximately, 14 months later, our then unborn baby girl blessed our lives and we returned to the Botanic Gardens once again where we had our family photographer take her one year old photo shoot. This time, no bee's, just birds. So why the Conejo Valley Botanic Gardens?? -The main garden is open Sunrise to Sunset unless it's raining of course. Got kids?? -There is a separate Kids Adventure Garden that's open ONLY on Sundays; sorry Chick-fil-A, but I've got plans ;) -There's an Australian Garden, sadly no Kangaroos :( -A Butterfly Garden, a Desert Garden, an Herb Garden, a rare fruit orchard, and the trail of trees featuring 50 different varieties of tree's just to name a few of the things to see. And the best part... ITS FREEEEEEE!!!! See I told you Nature was fun! So bring a book, bring your favorite photographer, bring a light snack and if you have it, bring along that bee keepers suit just in case... And come experience what nature has to offer.

What a lovely, lovely place. My family visited the gardens for the first time recently and we were surprised to find how expansive and wide it is! The kids adventure garden (open sundays) was especially fun for my little one.

If you live out in the suburbs of Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, or Westlake this garden is worth a visit if you want to get away from the city and be one with nature. A small botanical garden is nested in Thousand Oaks not too far from the busy Moorpark road. Also this garden is free, of course donations are always welcome. Various pathways lead you through different gardens. There is even a nature trail that is 3/4ths of a mile long. For kids there is a great playground. The area also has plenty of places to picnic. Furthermore all throughout the green there are benches to rest. Even places in strategic locations to relax in the shade with a great view. During the summertime you can come to the park by the garden for concerts. Don't forget your picnic. And if you desire a more serious hike, across the way is tarantula hill, and it's all uphill. Cute gardens, but not quite as manicured as other gardens. Can't complain as the vegetation is local and it's a free garden! In summary, definitely worth a visit if you like gardens and live nearby!

I love exploring my surroundings. I love exploring nature the most. There is a good amount of parking. This garden is connected to a park as well. The garden is free to go in. They run on donations. There is a box as you enter to put donations in. This garden is so beautiful. They have lots of different trees and flowers. It's a pretty good size. I don't think we walked all of it. We probably walk around half. I love how they have different sections for you to enjoy. There's even a kids area but that's only open on Sundays. The park connected to the garden has a really nice kids play area. That's open every day. It's also a good size park to walk in. Glad we came. We will for sure be coming back.

We came here on a high school prom afternoon in search for picture perfect spots. This place beat all of my expectations. There are tons of different scenery and garden. Cool play areas for toddlers and plenty of parking. Keep in mind this is a garden and there are dirt walkways. I will be retuning again to explore the rest of the garden. You could very well spend all day here. You are able to rent out sections of the park, including a playground with a fairly accommodating location for birthday parities.

The Conejo Valley Botanic Garden is a perfect place to spend an hour or so. There are a lot of picnic benches as well, and it would be a lovely setting for lunch. This Botanical Garden is 33-acres of natural terrain near the city of Thousand Oaks. But it honestly felt smaller. The hike takes you some small hills, but was perfect for our grandkids, age 6 and 12. There are several specialty gardens along the hiking trails as well as a beautiful small waterfall. Parking is free and there is an adjacent children's garden that is only open on Sunday from 11a-3p. The children's garden looks like a loft of fun for the kids. This Botanical Garden is very well maintained and clean with panoramic views. We enjoyed the fresh air and our grandchildren were proud of themselves for 'hiking'. This is in no way a challenging trail for serious hikers but Excellent for kids and older adults. There is a lot of signage as well. Best of all, ADMISSION IS FREE!

Beautiful garden! Great place to go for a walk. I loved the little themed areas of the garden with different kinds of plants. I also enjoyed the trail that brought you away from the garden and back to the entrance. Wonderful place to be surrounded by nature.

You can always find areas of beauty, a myriad of hiking trails, views, unusual plants, birds and butterflies, trees to climb or a bench where you can sit and contemplate life. It's amazing that this is a volunteer project. You can see all of the work it has taken to create the gardens as well as to maintain them.

Ask the Community - Conejo Valley Botanic Garden

Is the hiking trail open for this week? Or actually tomorrow 12-27?

Can you bring dogs?

Yes, as long as they remain on the trails, on leash and you clean up after them. Have fun!

Is this place wheelchair friendly/accessible?

It has pea gravel packed dirt paths that can accommodate a wheelchair around the kid's adventure garden. A wheelchair would not be able to navigate the hiking trails beyond the garden.

However, when my next daughter, FSIL and I started looking at venues...I kept thing about Maravilla, as I knew it was exactly what they were looking for. We talked about the past experience her sister and I had, and so at first did not want to consider the venue. But-I thought-maybe Jenn had a bad day the last time we were there-and we opted to give the venue a chance. I am glad we did. Jenn was very friendly, accommodating and informative. It was as if I was meeting a completely different person. My daughter's wedding here was in October-and it was absolutely wonderful. The venue is just gorgeous, the grounds are meticulously kept-and without a doubt the wedding coordinator Mel that is part of the package at Maravilla was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She made my daughter's day stress free and perfect. She kept everything on schedule and handled every/any issue that came up immediately. The Glam house is fantastic-but I do not like that they boot you out several hours before the event and give you a miniscule trailer for the bridal party. Only a few of our 7 people could fit in the trainer room at one time, there was only 2 seats. And we had to move all of our things there while we were only half ready. The food was very good, however we were forced to use their one caterer (Command Performance)...and while every other caterer offers a free tasting for up to 4 guests- Command Performance told us that since they were our only option, they would not do a 'free tasting' but would 'agree' to one for us @ $300 for the couple and $150 per additional person. The real rub was when my friend's son got married at the Gerry- you can choose your caterer from a list. And Command Performance is on that list-and they got free tastings. When we brought that to his attention, he said-"well they have choices of caters, so in that case, we will give free tastings". Pros: Beautiful setting Excellent parking Secure location Easy access Grounds are meticulously kept Fantastic support staff Coordinator Mel Glam room/house Lots of prop choices from her 'barn' Cons: Limited time in the glam house Extremely small trailer room for the bridal party after glam room Forced to use from their limited vendors/lack of competition allows them to take advantage of you Seems like many standard items have an 'extra' charge

We found Tiana through an IG ad, where she promoted Exotic Green Garden along with an all-inclusive wedding package at Lake Lindero Golf Course. The Exotic Green Garden IG page looked beautiful, and the package was within our budget, so we decided to reach out to learn more. Upon meeting Tiana, she was super friendly and honest about the costs, what can be personalized, and was patient in answering our many questions. We left the meeting feeling like we made a new friend, but still wanted to explore other options as she was the very first vendor we met in our wedding planning journey. After a week or so of reaching out to other florists, we decided that nobody could beat what Tiana offered, and her lovely personality was a huge plus. It was an easy decision to book Tiana as our florist, coordinator, and the wedding package for our wedding on October 4th, 2025 at Lake Lindero Golf Course. Leading up to our wedding, Tiana was very communicative with us every step of the way. It was so easy to reach her and hear back in a timely manner, whether it was through email, text, or a phone call. She was always ready to address our questions and concerns, and put our mind at ease. She even gave us suggestions on how to save money with our florals, which we truly appreciated. In addition to Tiana, we also worked with Adena (her sister) and Lance (her father and our officiant). We met Lance via FaceTime a few months before so he could learn about us, and he was so kind and funny that we knew he'd do a wonderful job making our ceremony go smoothly. He even had an additional call with us and sent reminder texts to make sure we were aware of what's needed for the day. We met Adena at our wedding rehearsal, where we learned she would be our day of coordinator instead. We were a little surprised since we thought Tiana would do this. But Adena re-assured us that she was familiar with the schedule and during the rehearsal, we were relieved to see how personable she was, and her professionalism matched that of Tiana and Lance, and we knew we were in good hands. On our wedding day, we received so many compliments from our guests on how much they loved the florals. We didn't see Tiana on our wedding day, but definitely felt how much love and care she put into them as they turned out beautiful, like exact replicas of our Pinterest photos. Several of our guests even snuck some away, which we didn't know till the end of the night lol! Our guests also praised Lance on how he conducted our ceremony and made it feel personable to us. Throughout the wedding, Adena constantly checked in on us to make sure we were hydrated, feeling ok, and keeping us informed about the schedule. She even jumped in to help cut a roast pig, which we did not expect her to do as we were expecting a specific guest to do it (who ended up not attending). We loved that Adena was so on top of everything the whole evening, while having a smile the whole time. We still reminisce about our wedding day, and how wonderful it was thanks to Tiana, Adena, and Lance. Even though it's been a few months, our guests still mention how lovely our wedding was, which makes us so happy to know that we chose a fantastic team. We highly recommend Tiana and her family/team for your wedding or special event. Thank you Tiana, Adena, and Lance for making our day feel extra special!!!

Chatsworth is also the home to some of the most gorgeous geolithic structures in the Valley. Anyone who has driven on the 118 has seen these glorious rock structures comprising of Stoney Point, Santa Susana, and of course Garden of the Gods. What is Garden of the Gods? Garden of the Gods is located essentially in a Chatsworth neighborhood on Redmesa (a very aptly named street) and isn't a park in the traditional sense of having a lot or ornate entrance. Rather, this entire acreage of Chatsworth is basically one large rocky, cavernous, geographic wonder making Valley residents feel like they are at a national park in Utah. Okay, it isn't on the level of Utah but it is pretty damn good for Los Angeles. After parking on the street, a sign welcomes visitors to the glorious area. A plaque proudly boasts of the Hollywood history of Garden of the Gods: it was part of the ranch that filmed countless westerns on the grounds from Buster Keaton classics to the opening credits of Lone Ranger hence Lone Ranger Rock. The 'trails' (if we want to call them that) vary from light rock climbing to open spaces and from bushes/grasses to sand stone outcroppings. Garden of the Gods is simply breathtaking and you can't help but take a moment to truly think about the amazing-ness of Mother Nature and the age of the rocks. There are several cave-like spots, smooth eroded boulders and stunning views of the SFV and the neighboring rock formations. One can see all the way across to the Verdugo Mountains and the tip of the LA National Forest. I visited the Garden of the Gods with a crew for a lingerie modeling shoot. That's right: I was basically naked here (and actually completely 100% naked when changing). I suppose that is fitting for the Porn Capital? We didn't come across many people (golden hour on a Wednesday in November) so Garden of the Gods was peaceful, quiet and serene. This place is perfect for a modeling shoot or for your IG with various nooks and crannies that make love to the camera. Or perhaps that was me doing that. Be careful though, because there of plenty of snakes and mountain lions who call Garden of the Gods home. So why am I not giving this gorgeous wonder of the world (or at least LA) 5 stars? Simply because people are assholes and decided to use Garden of the Gods as a garbage can. You will come across a lot of trash, bottles, and broken glass EVERYWHERE! These losers also defaced some of the beautiful rocks with tags and graffiti. News stories run rampant in the Stoney Point/Garden of the Gods/Santa Susana area of murders, fights, drugs, etc. Geeze Chatsworth, calm down. I would suggest, for the ladies out there, to not venture here alone. Although Garden of the Gods was quite empty during my visit; we did come across some hikers, families with small children and even mountain climbers with legit gear practicing on the rocky faces. Garden of the Gods caters to a diverse cast of characters. Side note relating to Covid: some people wore masks and some didn't but obviously there is plenty of room here for social distancing. Chatsworth may be known for porn but the rocky topography of the area is much more orgasmic and certainly worth more of a visit than just from from your car window when driving on the 118. Hey you never know: you might see someone modeling in lingerie!
