It was an emergency and they were willing to take her in and treat her urgently without an appointment and despite having a very busy day. Dr. Slaton saw her right away and was honest with us about her condition at this point and recommended what was best. We decided to try hospitalization for the day and see if she would improve. It was a relief knowing she was finally receiving proper care. They treated her as best as they could and administered medications other hospitals we took her to all the days prior didn't bother offering. She unfortunately did not respond to the medications, she was already so ill. We brought her back first thing in the morning. Dr Slaton and his team made her last moments on earth peaceful for all of us. I am grateful to now know about this practice and will be bringing my future pets to see Dr. Slaton. I wish I had brought her to see him a week sooner (and not the other places I took her to.) I know things would have ended differently. -Thank you for taking such good care of our Pepper girl

I decided to do so to share my experience and allow an opportunity for growth. I wanted to be proactive so I am thankful this wasn't an emergency. My pup has extreme allergy issues. I recently moved to So Cal from No Cal and started a new vet relationship. I explained to Dr. C what the pups experience had been and what I needed. I thought that went well. Scheduled a follow up visit to check in and review protocol as this is when his allergies take a bad turn. I specifically requested Dr c again and was told to come on a Tuesday. I arrived 10 mind ahead of appt to give them time to check me in and to be respectful of their time. First - Dr C wasn't even scheduled to work that day. It appears they may have double booked as there was another couple waiting with their pup. We both were taken to a room and the other couple were seen right away. I waited over half an hour and nothing. When I stepped out to ask if the vet tech could at least vaccinate the pup that seemed to throw everyone for a loop. Please no it is a large and appears to be quiet office. Many people seem to have not a lot going on and it appeared as if I may be disturbing then rather that being a paying customer with a request. When after standing around and nothing seemed to be happening other than just wait around. I thought this wouldn't work and left and got what seemed not of pure intent with a have a good day. If you are a parent you know what I mean when I say tone wasn't genuine. Now I am not angry just disappointed at people lack if care and kindness. I chose to drive further looking for a responsive and kind business. For me, this is not it. I was able to start service with a new vet within 2 miles from where I live. My message, be kind but expect the same in return. If not, go somewhere else. That is all we can do.

Dr. Siegel and his entire staff couldn't have been more compassionate and gentler with our beloved. I came across them while scrolling through Yelp and saw nothing but five-star reviews, so I figured I'd give them a try. I sent a message a couple of days ago, and they wrote back almost right away. They even offered me an appointment the next morning, and when that didn't fit my schedule, they had another one open for today. From the second we walked in, I could tell this place was different. I even joked that they must have something calming in the air because my bulldog, who's usually a nervous wreck at the vet, was totally chill. No barking, no pulling away--he just went right with the tech like it was no big deal. Dr. Siegel was amazing. He took his time with us, explained everything clearly, and never made me feel rushed. You can tell he really cares about the animals and the people who bring them in. The whole staff was so kind and gentle with every pet I saw while we were there. It's tucked behind Cho Cho San in Thousand Oaks, and it's 100% worth the short drive from Agoura. After having a few bad vet experiences before, finding a place this caring and down-to-earth honestly felt like a huge relief. If you're looking for a vet who genuinely cares, I can't recommend The Pet Hospital of Thousand Oaks enough.

I had to fill out some additional paperwork after arriving and then waited for a room. They are a smaller pet hospital, so it was pretty low and under-staffed. This means we waited about another 20 minutes to be seen by the doctor, which can be difficult if your pet is impatient and/ or in pain. Dr. K was really nice, though, and addressed our issue and any concerns, giving us an expectant time frame for recovery and what to see over the next couple of weeks. It took about 10 minutes or so to check out due to the amount of people there, which were only a few, and only one receptionist. With that in mind, they were fast for a smaller team, so I would just have a little more patience coming here; but then again, a lot of vets and pet hospitals have long wait times. The prices weren't bad and their exam fee was around $70 for the doctor to diagnose, which is pricy, but pretty average pricing in Westlake Village. The medicine was expensive (as always) BUT I didn't break the bank - which was a nice change. I will most likely be coming back here with my pup the next time we need something!

Absolutely, ONE MILLION % the WORST veterinary care I have ever subjected my fur babies to. EVER…read more This was about 13 years ago, HOPEFULLY new Vets and front office staff. Please dear God in heaven I was actually accused by a vet of MAKING THEM SICK BECAUSE I AM DISABLED Not only that, but I should GIVE THEM UP The front desk was so RUDE that it made me a nervous wreck just going in there. One of the babies WAS SICK, VERY sick and NOT from me, TYVM She was actually suffering from a diseased gallbladder, the BAD dog food scare and my nerves from going in there to begin with. They did NOT pick up Jack So, rule one, if the front desk does NOT make you feel anything other than, turn around and RUN. FAST. REALLY, REALLY FAST. If a vet ever accuses you of "making" your pet ill, ditto above. RUN FOR YOUR PETS LIFE, and your sanity. If I could give a ZERO I WOULD. I will say that I am using VCA in another state and the front desk is pretty nice, epically nice some days. I have had pretty good Vets, NOT stellar like at Ethos Vets which was ALWAYS STELLAR, 100%. I totally sympathize about the refilling of prescriptions and HAVING to go into the office for new scripts. I NEVER get meds from them. Walmart combined with GoodRX saves me a BUNDLE. VCA says that the scrip refills are handed down from Corporate and their hands are tied. IDK, I am disabled and I have Walmart DELIVERY so this totally screws me over having to go to Walmart and blah blah blah. WCYD

We were referred to Access in Woodland Hills without any meaningful warning about what that experience would be like. At no point were we told that Access requires full payment up front, offers no flexibility, or operates in a way that prioritizes financial compliance over humane communication. Had we known this in advance, we would have asked for other referral options. What was most upsetting is that when we later experienced dismissive and coercive treatment at Access, it became clear that this was not an anomaly. Many independent specialty clinics do offer payment plans, transparent conversations, or at least respectful explanations of alternatives. None of that context was shared with us before the referral. A referring veterinarian has a responsibility to do more than simply hand off a case. Referrals should include guidance, informed consent, and a clear picture of what a client is walking into, especially when the situation is urgent and emotionally charged. By sending us to Access in Woodland Hills without preparation or options, this clinic put us in an unnecessarily distressing situation at one of the most vulnerable moments a pet owner can experience. I expected advocacy and transparency. I did not expect to feel abandoned when guidance mattered most.

According to those reviews, was my experience was a fluke? I don't know--I don't know what to think now. Fortunately, though, I got lucky and was the only one there at that time of night so I received immediate and uninterrupted service. I brought my 15 yr old cat in for an emergency last Friday night at 11:30pm for a neurological event and ultimately had to euthanize him. I've read some bad reviews that talk about Drs pushing euthanasia, but that was absolutely not the case here. Based on the way he presented it could only have been a stroke, aneurysm, tumor or something else in the brain, so there was clearly no alternative (and I'm not going to put a cat through brain surgery). I already had the knowledge of labs/urine when my Dr gave him a clean bill of health 2-days prior (ironically). The Dr at VSEC and I decided to shoot an xray or two just to make sure there was nothing blatantly obvious like a mass but they were clean. This helped us arrive at the correct conclusion. I also requested that he just interpret the xrays rather than sending them to the stat radiologist and he accommodated me. (WOW, someone actually saying they saved money at this place!--remember to advocate for yourself!) The Dr (Sorry I don't remember his name) I worked with was 10/10, couldn't have been more compassionate, and helped me through the decision-making process. I was able to spend as much time with the cat as I wanted before and after we put him to sleep...and I spent nearly an hour and was never bothered or hurried. So as lousy as that was, the experience was the best I could have hoped for. No complaints about the tech or the girl I talked to on the phone that told me to drive safely.

Worst experience at this place, especially dealing with Cody from the emergency department …read more I've been a loyal customer for years and never had any issues before. Recently, I learned they have different staff, Emergency team and Cardiology specialist staff on different days. The cardiology technician and doctor I normally work with are amazing. They are only there on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. On the other days, it's been a nightmare, and I would strongly advise against going then. Prices were quoted nearly four times higher. For my dog, we have always done a single-view X-ray. However, Cody insisted on doing a three-view X-ray, which would have cost almost $1,300. I asked if it was possible to do the single view, as I've done for years with the other doctor. Cody responded by saying I am not a doctor and that if I wasn't happy, I could go somewhere else. I honestly did not feel any compassion from him and found him to be cold and dismissive. When I mentioned I would leave a review, he said he didn't care and told me to go ahead. I felt forced and helpless at that point and signed a release form to discharge my dog. I left feeling hurt and distressed.
