I've been going to this vet for years and always believing the treatment costs were fair and affordable. However, it seems the price has doubled for some procedures and tests- I hope i'm wrong! I checked nationwide the average cost of a particular treatment, and they were double that. Service is usually above average otherwise. I just always wonder why diagnostic tests for animals seem to cost more than the same test for people, especially considering most pet owners pay without insurance- which should lower the fees charged. My guess is that a person on a fixed income cannot afford a typical vet bill- even a yearly teeth cleaning- that's very expensive now! read more

We have always had a great experience at Caring Hands. Their staff is terrific. They seem to take a genuine interest in helping and getting to know our dog Farley, a rescued 5 year old border collie. Years of neglect prior to our finding him at the Camarillo Shelter had taken a toll on Farley, both orthopedically and with his dental hygiene. After a thorough exam, and consultation, we had a complete understanding of Farley's overall health. They performed extensive oral surgery, and coupled with common sense advice of dealing with his orthopedic issues going forward have improved Farley's overall health and well being. A much happier dog. Sean, in particular has taken an interest in Farley, and Farley trusts and enjoys interacting with him on his visits. read more

It's been about two weeks, and I can finally get myself to write this review. The people at Caring Hands were so warm and unbelievable. My dog was very ill and we didn't know why. They were able to see her the next morning even though we weren't patients. My usual vet was busy for three days. Lo and behold we had to put our baby down and they were so kind and gentle and very sweet throughout the whole process. They were shedding tears with us as we hysterically cried our eyes out. They truly were so sweet, kind, understanding and loving. I didn't know how much everything was going to cost so I had just taken out a CareCredit credit card that morning which made me feel better, knowing I could financially do whatever it took to save my girl. The only issue I have with Caring Hands is that they do not take CareCredit. Hopefully, that's some thing they will change in the future to help alleviate the financial cost of having a sick animal. Other than that they were all amazing and when I get my next animal this is the only place I will take them, even though it's far from my house. The care at Caring Hands does not compare to my local vet. read more

I took my dog here for year. My dog had a stroke and had to be put down. Caring hands what a joke. I've had dogs all my life very unprofessional. Worst care ever. They made me sit in the waiting room for a 1/2 hour crying. Then, Dr. Koss only got 1/2 the dose in my dog and he struggled. If I could have left in the middle I would have. Anywhere is better than this place. No caring hands here. Never ever would I go here or recommend this place. read more

Shame. We took our dog here since he was born - a total of 15.5 years. At the end of his life, we called in desperation for an appointment and all they could say was "we are too busy to take him, good luck". He passed away the next day. They never try to upsell you on treatments/products they don't deem necessary, their prices are also the best I've seen in the area. They saved my little puppy's life after he had ingested something that caused his entire system to shut down. After days of non stop care, they were able to bring him back. Present day Sushi is happier and healthier than ever. The staff is always attentive and caring, consistently living up to their name. It does not matter which doctor you go to, each one is absolutely excellent. They will never try to push extra services on you that aren't necessary. Our first visit with Dr. Kohan was very helpful. We brought our older dog, who was refusing to eat, in to see someone. Staff was very helpful getting us in quickly. Dr. Kohan took her time with us answering our questions and explaining what the problem may be. Maisy was given medicine and by nightfall, eating again and feeling so much better. I would not recommend this vet office. I Was told by three different veterinarians at this location that my dog was diagnosed with two bladders and had a "bladder abnormality" in my five month old puppy. They urged us to an internal specialist, and then called the next day to ensure that I was making an appointment, leading us to believe that this was a major issue that needs to be taken care of immediately. $2200 and 2 internal specialist later we come to find Out that he's Completely fine and that his bladder is totally normal! When I called the vet office a couple days later to discuss what they saw versus what my two specialist saw, and to confirm that multiple vets at that veterinarian Hospital agreed with the abnormal bladder diagnosis I was told that " they are not specialists, that's why they sent me for a second opinion" I'm sorry, but that's not a good enough answer as to why I just spent an insane amount of money for 2 different doctors to tell me he was fine. I understand that medicine has its limits and we can only do so much with the equipment on hand at a regular vet, office, but to have three different veterinarians, including the lead veterinarian on staff tell me a sob story about her own dog having two bladders and needing surgery, only to find out our dog doesn't need anything and he's completely fine is unacceptable, completely and grossly negligent. How many other pet parents have you done this to? Had I not been able to afford the second opinion we were honestly thinking about putting him down so he wasn't in any pain or suffering. It's still blows my mind that three different veterinarians all agreed with a diagnosis that is completely inaccurate. I would not recommend coming here unless you're interested in spending a bunch of money you don't need to spend on a diagnosis that isn't even accurate. Take your pet somewhere else and save yourself the heartache and cash. read more

I normally had good service. However, the other day I took my girl in to get groomed and asked for a Santi cut around her but. They did do the Santi cut, but it was a too close and let her in pain. This was not a good experience at all, they should be renamed SADISTIC HANDS VETERINARY HOSPITAL! I took my 15 year old cat in to discuss putting him down due to advanced hyperthyroidism, blindness and onset of dementia. They seemed very nice but kept saying that he could go on for some time if he took meds. I knew my regular vet was against it due to his advanced state but they insisted it would help. Within 4 days of taking the medication he was dead! It is just so upsetting because I wanted to put him down in a humane and caring manor but instead had to watch him suffer excruciating seizures and sudden paralysis and heart failure. While on the phone to ask for help in the situation they said take him to emergency hospital because they cannot do anything. The kicker was that the lady said they will not hold it against me if I put him down. WHAT, are you kidding me!! While on the phone with them the cat died in my arms. It was very traumatic to watch this horror show unfold. I just wanted a peaceful, caring humane ending to his life but instead he received a painful and violent end. I do not recommend taking your elderly sick animals to SADIISTIC HANDS VETERINARY HOSPITAL. I see another post with similar thing happened to her dog. read more

My family dog had been suffering for while due to old age. My dog was 13 years old and unfortunately was nearing the end, constantly hacking and coughing. He would constantly be wheezing or coughing up liquids. It was so bad he couldn't even run anymore or drink water, he eventually stopped wanting to eat. My sister and I decided it would be best to let him rest and put him down. My parents had been taking him to this vet for sometime. Although they were sweet I felt as if the doctors and staff here weren't knowledgeable. They kept prescribing medication that did not help and finally we decided it was time to put him down no more medication. For some reason they insisted on giving more medication even though my dog clearly wasn't getting better. Two days later he had passed away. They staff is indeed friendly just in my experience they didn't seem to know how to actually help. read more
