We use a team of physicians on Jackson depending on the issue. I must say Dr.Daniel Lee is outstanding. He does a thorough exam, listens attentively, asks appropriate questions and his recommendations have always worked beautifully for our 14 year young pup. I highly recommend him as he is very knowledgeable and very nice too.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital We had an extremely disturbing and unprofessional experience at Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital, and I feel compelled to warn other families. My wife brought our dog, Keziah, in because she was lethargic and not feeling well. Shortly after arriving, the veterinarian appeared more focused on my wife's ring and purse than on our dog. They took poor-quality, blurry X-rays immediately after Keziah had eaten and then abruptly told my wife: "She has an obstruction and needs emergency surgery immediately or she will die." They quoted $10,000 for the surgery. My wife was understandably terrified and called me in a panic. I told her we needed to pause and pray and trust God, because this did not make sense. A second doctor then entered the room and spoke to my wife in a condescending and dismissive tone, stating: "Not everyone can afford $10,000, and we don't look at you differently." This was said without compassion and felt completely inappropriate. They then pressured my wife into signing a liability release, stating that we were "going against doctor's orders," essentially attempting to shield themselves legally while continuing to pressure us. After this, they suddenly called and said they had another doctor who could do the same surgery for $3,500. When we declined, we were told that if we couldn't afford it, we "should have just gone somewhere in Simi," as if where you live--or the color of your skin--defines your worth or financial standing. My wife also felt deeply uncomfortable by how staff gawked at our mixed-race children, which only added to the distress and sense of bias during this visit. Even after my wife left, they called again and repeated the $3,500 surgery offer. We trusted God and took Keziah to American Veterinary Hospital in Simi Valley, where we actually live. That veterinarian laughed at the X-rays, explaining they were blurry and showed no obstruction whatsoever. Using the same type of equipment, they took clear X-rays, monitored her overnight, and diagnosed the real issue: an allergic reaction to her food. Total cost: $1,500, including overnight care, diagnostics, and treatment. No surgery. No scare tactics. No pressure. Keziah is now back to her happy, playful self. What we experienced at Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital felt like fear-based upselling, coercion, and deeply inappropriate assumptions. There is no place for racism, classism, or predatory medical practices in veterinary care. Pet owners deserve honesty, clarity, and compassion--not panic and pressure.

I brought my dog, Dakota, to Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital on August 26, 2025, for an ear infection and possible yeast on her paws. I approved the treatment plan based on the clinic's recommendations and was billed $854.25, which included $456.50 for a single Cytopoint injection. After the visit, I contacted several other Ventura County veterinary clinics to compare pricing and learned that comparable care including the same Cytopoint injection and exam typically costs between $207 and $315 total. Based on multiple quotes, the entire set of services provided during Dakota's visit would have cost closer to $500-$600 at most other local clinics. I emailed the clinic on August 26th requesting an itemized invoice and an explanation for the pricing discrepancy, but as of today, I have not received any response. I also want to note that I informed the staff that Dakota is fearful of male handlers and that we follow fear-free practices for her care. Despite this, a male technician administered vaccines without acknowledgment of this request, which caused Dakota additional stress. Afterward, I reviewed recent Yelp reviews and noticed several one-star complaints in the past few months from other pet owners expressing concerns about pricing, communication, and care -- many of which appear unresolved. I wish I had seen those before my visit. I value the medical care Dakota received, but based on my experience and the lack of communication, I encourage other pet owners to carefully review recent feedback and ask for detailed estimates before approving treatment plans

We brought our beloved cat, Foxy, to Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital during his final days, and Dr. Kane went above and beyond to help us through one of the hardest moments of our lives. He spent quality time with us, patiently explaining the options, answering our questions, and offering emotional support. His compassion and professionalism made an incredibly difficult decision a little easier. Dr. Kane even sent us a thoughtful letter afterward, which meant so much to us. We will forever be grateful for the care, kindness, and dignity he gave Foxy and our family. Thank you Dr Kane

Is there an internist on staff? My regular vet has recommended my senior dog see an internist for evaluation of liver disease and early kidney disease...

Hello, we do not have any specialists here at our hospital. We hope you are able to find an internist soon.

Our family is considering a few different breeds for a new puppy. Can we speak to a vet for recommendations and get info on good breeders in the area? Thanks

They have 18 veterinarian's in that office.do they have knowledge of reputable breeders in the area? Best bet, call them first. They probably can help you. Always better to rescue at the shelter! Just saying. Good luck

What is the cost for 7 month old sheepadoodle neuter?

$500-$1000 but worth it. Never use spay clinic.

What would be a general estimate to trim rabbit's back molars?

We would recommend scheduling an appointment to have the teeth looked at first. It is hard to provide an estimate without doing a full mouth exam, as some pets may need to be sedated for this procedure.

I recently added a new addition to the family, she is a one year old cat who is spayed and is up to date with all her shots. How much roughly would a normal exam/check up cost just to make sure she has great health like her previous owner stated?

Hello, congratulations on adding a new furry family member to your household! For a dog or cat with a scheduled appointment it is roughly about $70 for the exam. If other tests or medications are needed those are additional charges. Please give us a…

Do you accept pet insurance, and if so, any specific kind?

We accept all pet insurance, we just please ask that you bring any paperwork that needs to be filled out to your appointments, so the doctors are able to get this filled out.

My kitten has worms bad and I was told by the cat doctor that I should bring her to you. How much would that cost and could I come in ASAP? Thank u for ur time.

Hello, it is roughly about $100 for the exam as an urgent care walk in. Medications and treatment will be additional costs. Please give us a call at 805-495-4671 to let us know when you will be in.

Hello. My bearded dragon hasn't been eating. How much would it cost me to get him checked?

With a scheduled appointment it is roughly about $88, it does not include any medications or additional treatment. If you come in as an urgent care walk in it is roughly about $120-$155 for the exam and any medication or additional treatment are…

After the care Dr Dueppen gave my daughter's rabbit Izzy (see my review), I thought I would reach out-but told that although you see exotics, you do not see wildlife types, even though licensed? Do you have a list of what you do treat?

Hello Benay, we do see exotics such as rabbits, ferrets, tortoises, lizards, snakes, guinea pigs etc. We are no longer seeing wildlife and our doctors do not feel comfortable treating a prairie dog, as we have never treated them here at our hospital…

Hello, how much would it be to spay my 2 year old bunny? Thank you

Hello, it is roughly about $600-$750 to have this done. If you wish to schedule an appointment please give us a call at 805-495-4671. Thank you

How much do you charge for dog teeth cleaning?

Hello Wendy, it is hard to quote an exact cost for a dental cleaning. The reason for that is because it does depend on what stage dental disease your pet might have, This is determined by how much plaque and tartar build up are on the teeth and if…

Can you do an ultrasound of my Golden's abdomin?

Hello Linda, yes we do have a few doctors here that can do ultrasounds. Please give us a call at 805-495-4671 to schedule that appointment with us.

Do you guys do teeth extractions on dogs?

Yes we do. We do full anesthetic teeth cleaning and polishing. If the dog needs teeth to be extracted we can do that as well. We are offering 15% off our dental services from December 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020. If you are interested in scheduling a…

Hi! Do you guys work on teeth for big dogs? I just noticed our poor shepherd has a tooth that's turning black 😭

Hello Olivia, thank you for reaching out to us in regards to your question on working on teeth for big dogs. We do dentals here on all sized dogs, they are put under anesthesia and we can do a full mouth cleaning where we polish and scrape all the…

How much does a bird check up cost?

Hi Christina, Please feel free to give us a call at 805-495-4671 to discuss your bird's specific needs and schedule an appointment.…

Do you have to make an appointment or can you come in any time?

We prefer that you make an appointment. If you do it will save you a little bit of money and time. When you make an appointment it is roughly about $61 for dogs and cats and you have a scheduled doctor and time so you can get in on time. If you do…

How much would a check up for a severe macaw cost? And what exactly would they look at?

Our Avian Office Visit is $91 dollars. This includes a beak to tail exam of the macaw. We do not have any board-certified avian specialists on staff, but many of our doctors are comfortable examining birds. Thanks for your inquiry!

What are their grooming business hours?

Hello Ben, we do not have set hours for our Groomers. They normally come in at around 8:30 am and work until their last appointment. Our Grooming Department is open 7 days a week for appointments. If you have any further questions, please give us a…

Does this veterinarian do check ups on small animals like guinea pigs? Thanks!

Yes our veterinarians see exotic pets like guinea pigs. They also see rodents, birds, reptiles, ferrets, and other small mammals. We also have a veterinarian who sees fish.

We have a 14-year-old indoor cat who gets extremely stressed in carriers and at the vet, so we don't have a regular veterinarian. When we came home from a weekend trip, we discovered she had a ruptured anal gland abscess. It was painful for her and frightening for us. We brought her to VSEC on a Sunday afternoon in mid-July, and Dr. Jeffrey Ohm and his compassionate staff took wonderful care of her. They examined her, treated the wound, prescribed medication, and even trimmed her nails at our request. We were back in the car in about two hours. The total cost for the exam, treatment, prescriptions, and nail trim came to just under $500, which we felt was very reasonable for emergency care. Prices were quoted nearly four times higher. For my dog, we have always done a single-view X-ray. However, Cody insisted on doing a three-view X-ray, which would have cost almost $1,300. I asked if it was possible to do the single view, as I've done for years with the other doctor. Cody responded by saying I am not a doctor and that if I wasn't happy, I could go somewhere else. I honestly did not feel any compassion from him and found him to be cold and dismissive. When I mentioned I would leave a review, he said he didn't care and told me to go ahead. I felt forced and helpless at that point and signed a release form to discharge my dog. I left feeling hurt and distressed.

They conveniently failed to mention that the very medication they chose to give her wouldn't even start working properly during the time they wanted to keep her admitted. It felt like a blatant setup to rack up a huge overnight bill. I trusted them in a moment of desperation, and they exploited that trust without hesitation. My dog suffered longer than necessary because of their decision to go the slow route on purpose, and then they tried to scare me into an expensive hospitalization that wouldn't have even addressed the delay they created. The lack of transparency, the manipulative upselling, and the complete disregard for my dog's actual wellbeing left me horrified and heartbroken. This wasn't veterinary care; it felt like a calculated money grab. I will never step foot in a VCA again, and I'm in the process of filing complaints with the California Veterinary Medical Board, the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs, the Better Business Bureau, and every other consumer protection agency I can find. If you care about your pet at all, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. Avoid VCA at all costs.

The moment I walked in they called for someone in the back to come take him to check him immediately; they then spent 14 hours rescuing him. They discussed treatment plans/options with compassion and understanding. Dr Farrell, I later discovered, stayed well past her shift helping monitor him. Stacy was able to get an IV line into him when I was ready to give up. They not only took care of my pet but they reached out to care for me-offering blankets (Clarissa!), tissues and coffee/water as well as comfort. Thank you to all of the unnamed team who helped send our old man home with a little more time. You are all amazing and I wish I had thought to get all of your names and thank each of you from the bottom of my heart!

When I got there, vet techs were waiting for me. Some of them took her back, and one took my story on what happened, and her symptoms. I had to call Pet Poison Line so they could tell the vets how to treat her-that's fine-and they wanted to do a full workup on her since she is 12. I said that's fine, that's what insurance is for. It was about 11pm when I was sent home to rest while they took care of her. At about two, they called me to tell me that she survived the nightshade poisoning, but they had found a thicker spot in her intestines in the x-ray, and they wanted to do follow-up images in the morning, so I got another estimate for them to keep her til the next day and run another round of x-rays and do an ultrasound. She stayed and I went back to sleep. In the morning, a very kind vet whose name I don't remember called me and went over what is happening and why that spot could be there. She gave me advice on how to proceed after today. She asked what food my cat eats so they could give it to her there too. I was kept in the loop the whole time from when I got there to when I picked her up at 4:30pm. It set me back about $3500. Thank God for pet insurance. But considering all they did and the overnight stay, not terrible. My cat's idiocy may have saved her bacon if we caught something early, but so did True Care's thoroughness.

I was worried that she might have a luxating patella (dislocated kneecap). Although it wasn't a life-threatening emergency, it was the weekend, so we had no choice but to visit the ER. The wait was much longer than I expected--we waited about three hours. At one point, I was thinking that I probably wouldn't come back here again because of the long wait. However, everything changed after we met Dr. Ino. Dr. Ino was incredibly kind, patient, and compassionate. He performed a thorough examination of Nami and took the time to listen carefully to everything I had observed and was concerned about. By the time she was examined, Nami had stopped limping and was acting like her normal, energetic self again. Dr. Ino felt that she looked okay and recommended close observation instead of unnecessary treatment. What impressed me most was not only his medical knowledge but also the way he treated both my dog and me. He listened carefully, addressed all of my concerns, and provided thoughtful advice without making me feel rushed. His professionalism, responsibility, and genuine kindness gave me so much reassurance. I left feeling extremely satisfied with the care we received. Of course, I hope we never have another emergency, but if we ever do, I would absolutely return here and specifically ask for Dr. Ino to care for Nami again. Thank you, Dr. Ino, for taking such wonderful care of our girl.

I ended up calling out of work to stay with him the whole time & during his stay he was treated so well. he had his own doctor & nurse, they would check on him every couple of hours or so and always took care of anything he needed. my kitty has a history of having a uti & wasn't peeing for the first 12 hours. I wasn't too concerned because he does that when he's in a new environment naturally but different nurses were so attentive with checking his bladder some even did quick ultrasounds. It is expensive but so is every other emergency hospital & my bill was actually the same price as when he was in a different hospital a few years before & there I was only able to visit him for 30 minutes. I think being able to stay with him the whole time made all the difference for me & my kitty too. I know he would've been stressed being left alone in a cage for almost 2 days and that could've affected his recovery. thank you to everyone who was so sweet to him giving him love and attention. he literally was purring his whole time here & he was actually a little upset to leave.

When we came back, he was vomiting and having diarrhea for 2 days so I took him to my regular vet and she told me to take him to the ER immediately bc he was severely dehydrated. I arrived here asap to admit my dog and see what's wrong. For the total price of $6251.15, we had 2 overnight stays with a diagnosis of Gastroenteritis and urinary bladder stones with elevated kidney lab values. The drs made it sound like Chase was going to die if he didn't get surgery within the next few seconds. She made it sound extremely urgent. Mind you, he never had any issues peeing prior to this so it was big news to me. She said he has a partial urinary blockage due to the bladder stones in his urethra but he was still peeing. The drs recommendations were to keep him to monitor him overnight and push for urinary catheter and surgery. I didn't agree to urinary catheter or surgery bc I didn't want to do anything invasive to him. They ended up doing the urinary catheter to try and push the stones back in however, they were unsuccessful and couldn't even put the catheter in bc they didn't have a needle small enough so it didn't fit thru his penile bone? So basically they tried and failed but I was still charged for it. Then they continued to push for surgery. Meanwhile all they did was give him anti-nausea meds and IV the whole time he was in there. I was all over the place like okay what should I do? He's my baby and I want the absolute best for him. I decided to finally just take him out the hospital and let him rest at home while finding another location for a second opinion. When I picked him up, poor baby peed like a racehorse for abt 2 mins straight. I have never in my life seen him pee this much and he is 6 years old! They must've kept him in there and not release him for potty breaks/walks the whole time. Vets and hospitals are expensive but this was unbelievable. A money hungry spot and way overpriced. I can't believe they charged 6k for nothing but meds to go home with. Never again.
