I traveled the Azores with a friend and we were in walking distance of this shop. I was obsessed with the delicate little pastries and remember the name of none of them. The little "American" coffee (like lattes?) were a novelty at first but I got tired of them, craving my strong American coffee. (Apparently you can't even get a "real" American coffee at McDonalds there!) On the last day, I finally tried there hamburger and found out why everyone raves about the beef in the Azores...it was the best, juiciest, tastiest hamburger I've had in my search for delicious hamburgers! And the pillows version of what looks like an English muffin was the perfect foil for the hamburger. Probably good I didn't try those 1st or I'd have eaten them everyday! The young men and ladies working behind the counter were sweet and super patient, because I believe I was offensive somehow with my American ways...they seemed to want you to "sit down" all the time to wait on you!

Bolo levedo with São Jorge cheese

My friends and I took the red-eye flight to Ponta Delgado from Boston and were left stranded for a few hours before we could check into our hotel. To pass the time, we wandered the city in search of breakfast. Breakfast here is very simple- bread or croissant with ham, cheese, or both. I got the bolo levedo (Portuguese sweet muffin) with São Jorge bread. São Jorge bread is a bit stinky but paired really well with the bread. On the recommendation of another Yelper, I also got the pineapple tart. I'm not an big fan of tarts but this one was amazing. The breakfast at our hotel had tarts during the breakfast buffet but this was the best one I had on the island because there were chunks of pineapple in it. My friends and I came here the following Sunday for dinner since we all wanted something different and their dinner menu has everything from pasta to sushi. I got a Azorean burger with rustic fries. The burger was incredible, maybe one of the best I've ever had. There was cheese, bacon, and pineapple on it and the combination was dynamite. I wish I had two! The rustic fries left more to be desired. Turns out rustic fries were just soggy potato chips. My friends ordered sushi and the sushi looked very unimpressive and the portion was super tiny! This is a good restaurant, you just have to know what to order. Prices are reasonable so you won't be too upset if you get something you don't like.

If there's only one meal that you must have while on the island, this is certainly the one... so if you're reading this, trust me and make a reservation now! When we arrived, we were handed a map and given the option to walk around and explore the farm either before or after our meal. If you're coming for a later dinner, I'd recommend walking around first so you can explore the farm grounds while the sun is still out. Such a fun way to get acquainted with the rustic charm of our surroundings to kick off the night! According to the owner, they are constantly changing up the menu so no matter how many times you visit, each time will be an entirely unique dining experience... so I won't go into too many details but our selection of the day included: pea soup, salad, fish, roasted duck, and finished off with a decadent chocolate pastry/sorbet combo. Each course was beautifully presented and tasted like a hearty homemade dish prepared with ingredients of the utmost freshness and quality. This was such a fun way to get a taste of local cuisine right from the source, and you can tell that this restaurant is a labor of love -- the owners and servers clearly take pride in the quality of ingredients in the way they walk you through each course in detail. Idk where else in the world you'd be able to find such a deliciously hearty and wholesome 6-course meal with farm-fresh, quality ingredients for 60 euros... if you do, please LMK but in the meantime do yourself the biggest favor and make this a priority while you're visiting Sao Miguel!

Each course tasted amazing. We did the wine pairing and all the types of wines served added to the flavors of the dish. Great presentation by the chef. We are outside during a rain storm and the weather further added to the ambiance of the meal. Servers were right on top of everything but they didn't push you to eat quickly and there was no rush. It actually was delightful to take our time and have a great family conversation. Both grandkids, 12 and 10 enjoyed each course. They were very willing to try the variety of the dishes served. The servers knew what was in each dish including the seasonings. Fabulous experience by the whole family. Highly recommend this family run restaurant.

We ordered the prosciutto sandwich and roasted vegetable omelette with goat cheese, both of which were incredibly fresh tasting and bursting with flavor. While both items were fantastic, what stood out to me was the delicious bread which was pillowy soft, chewy and was the perfect vehicle to soak up the farm fresh egg yolks on the sandwich and to pair with the goat cheese and herbal elements of the omelette. We also got a glass of orange, carrot and ginger juice which was freshly whipped up with the Zumex-style citrus juicer located inside the shop. To finish off our hearty breakfast, I got an almond and ginger tart to go that was simply amazing! The crust had just the right amount of crunch and the almond slices paired beautifully with the subtle ginger notes of the pastry~ 5/5 yumminess Both outdoor and indoor seating is available, but we opted for the latter to avoid the cigarette smoke from passersby plus you get the added bonus of watching their chef cook through the big glass window to their kitchen! The owner is an interesting chatty gentleman with very strong political views (the shop is decked out in Bitcoin propaganda) and he told us they maintain a strictly 2-person operation to ensure that the food is prepared up to their meticulous standards. Overall despite the higher-than-average prices, you cant go wrong with INTZ48 for a deliciously satisfying and filling brunch with very high quality and farm-to-fork ingredients. Sao Miguel is known worldwide for its fantastic bread and cheese and this is a great place to sample those together!
