Cheese plate (highly recommend), mint and house tea, ham sandwich, carrot cake!
    Sejal L.

This cozy tea house is probably one of my favorite places that I've ever visited. After a long day of hiking, my fiance and I were looking for a place to eat. Everywhere else was closed, so we stumbled upon this place and it was absolutely amazing. They have this incredible seating outside, and we ordered a a cheese plate, two types of tea, carrot cake, and a ham sandwich. The cheeses were so fresh and tasty along with the jams. The ambiance was perfect, and we loved sitting outside and enjoying our meal. Also it was affordable and had great service. Highly recommend coming to family run place, and we plan to visit again when we come back!

Wonderful lunch, relaxing and clean. Quiet music playing in the background and attentive friendly staff. We went back the next day! Super delicious ice cream too!

Delicious, beautiful, peaceful place for a nice lunch.

However, my friend and I happened to pass by the factory when we were on our way to another destination, so we decided to stop in to see the factory. The factory itself isn't that big (takes about a few seconds to see the whole thing). Because we saw the ladies wrapping the freshly made queijadas, we decided to order some coffee and try the queijadas there. The difference in the texture and taste of the freshly made queijadas vs the one I bought at the cafe (also from this factory) was HUGE! The freshly made one tasted delicious! Highly recommend coming here to try this Portuguese pastry with some coffee! You won't regret it!

These little dense egg yolk cakes are a yummy sweet breakfast and a specialty of the island that all visitors need to try. The queijadas were delicious and we came back another day for more and to buy a box to bring home (sold in souvenir boxes of 6 or 12). This place may be cash only, not completely sure. When we were there at 9am when they first opened we were able to watch the staff wrapping all the individual queijadas. There was also a big bus of tourists that was dropped off right at 9am and they flooded in the small place to all buy pastries, so keep that in mind when planning your stop here - not sure if this is something that happens every morning. You order everything at the counter and there are a few tables inside and some tables out on the patio as well. When I went back it was around 2 pm and there were only a few other people there.

We were initially reluctant to get breakfast here because the prices seemed inflated (~ American…read moreprices starting at around 15-18 € per dish) but at 10am, it was one of the few places in town open for brunch and their beautiful pastries caught my eye. We ordered the prosciutto sandwich and roasted vegetable omelette with goat cheese, both of which were incredibly fresh tasting and bursting with flavor. While both items were fantastic, what stood out to me was the delicious bread which was pillowy soft, chewy and was the perfect vehicle to soak up the farm fresh egg yolks on the sandwich and to pair with the goat cheese and herbal elements of the omelette. We also got a glass of orange, carrot and ginger juice which was freshly whipped up with the Zumex-style citrus juicer located inside the shop. To finish off our hearty breakfast, I got an almond and ginger tart to go that was simply amazing! The crust had just the right amount of crunch and the almond slices paired beautifully with the subtle ginger notes of the pastry~ 5/5 yumminess Both outdoor and indoor seating is available, but we opted for the latter to avoid the cigarette smoke from passersby plus you get the added bonus of watching their chef cook through the big glass window to their kitchen! The owner is an interesting chatty gentleman with very strong political views (the shop is decked out in Bitcoin propaganda) and he told us they maintain a strictly 2-person operation to ensure that the food is prepared up to their meticulous standards. Overall despite the higher-than-average prices, you cant go wrong with INTZ48 for a deliciously satisfying and filling brunch with very high quality and farm-to-fork ingredients. Sao Miguel is known worldwide for its fantastic bread and cheese and this is a great place to sample those together!

If there's only one meal that you must have while on the island, this is certainly the one... so if you're reading this, trust me and make a reservation now! When we arrived, we were handed a map and given the option to walk around and explore the farm either before or after our meal. If you're coming for a later dinner, I'd recommend walking around first so you can explore the farm grounds while the sun is still out. Such a fun way to get acquainted with the rustic charm of our surroundings to kick off the night! According to the owner, they are constantly changing up the menu so no matter how many times you visit, each time will be an entirely unique dining experience... so I won't go into too many details but our selection of the day included: pea soup, salad, fish, roasted duck, and finished off with a decadent chocolate pastry/sorbet combo. Each course was beautifully presented and tasted like a hearty homemade dish prepared with ingredients of the utmost freshness and quality. This was such a fun way to get a taste of local cuisine right from the source, and you can tell that this restaurant is a labor of love -- the owners and servers clearly take pride in the quality of ingredients in the way they walk you through each course in detail. Idk where else in the world you'd be able to find such a deliciously hearty and wholesome 6-course meal with farm-fresh, quality ingredients for 60 euros... if you do, please LMK but in the meantime do yourself the biggest favor and make this a priority while you're visiting Sao Miguel!

Each course tasted amazing. We did the wine pairing and all the types of wines served added to the flavors of the dish. Great presentation by the chef. We are outside during a rain storm and the weather further added to the ambiance of the meal. Servers were right on top of everything but they didn't push you to eat quickly and there was no rush. It actually was delightful to take our time and have a great family conversation. Both grandkids, 12 and 10 enjoyed each course. They were very willing to try the variety of the dishes served. The servers knew what was in each dish including the seasonings. Fabulous experience by the whole family. Highly recommend this family run restaurant.
