i was granted the opportunity to attend saturday shabbat service, which I've been trying to attend every first saturday of the month, though the service is hosted nearly every saturday morning. although i've grown up catholic christian by tradition, i'm nonetheless grateful for the opportunity to grow the range of my faith expression through participating in a religious tradition of another widely practiced religion in judaism. further, while my interest in participating within the jewish faith tradition comes in significant part from being invited by a specific family to the synagogue during my youth, i've also been kindly welcomed by other members in the congregation during multiple visits in the past year. so, although i'm relatively new to the routine of participating in the jewish faith tradition through saturday morning shabbat service, i'd definitely suggest to anyone, with or without a current religious or faith practice, going to the event calendar on the website of the synagogue to request attending a shabbat service as a method of connecting with a higher power and gaining insight into the inter-connectedness of faith tradition. read more

Congregation B'nai Emunah - complementary kippa, one way i've been welcomed by synagogue community - Synagogues Near Me - Tulsa, Oklahoma

They try to present themselves as a warm,inclusive and accepting community. However they are only that way to refugees and fellow Jews. Not to student converts or as they call them participants like me. I attended there for a year as one and it was isolating. I really wanted to get my conversion and become a member of the Synagogue,being I take pride in my Jewish heritage. I don't think or feel like they took my conversion seriously at all. read more

First impression coming from someone whom is interested in attending services here. -Security at the door is very polite -The lady was nice and informed me to go to the website ( which seemed really impersonal but understandable ). -Visitors must register to let them know you want to attend Saturday service. Rabbi Marc Fitzerman is the most gifted wordsmith I've ever encountered. He is lyrical, profound and dazzling in his prose. I could listen to his sermons for hours. And new Rabbi Dan Kaiman is immensely kind, wise beyond his years, and generous in his love for all of Tulsa. The Synagogue engages in amazing community projects: mentoring at McClure Elementary, the award-winning Altamont Baking program that works with formerly homeless, mentally ill Tulsans, and Booksmart Tulsa. The doors of the Synagogue are open to those who want to learn. The Synagogue even runs the best preschool program in all of Tulsa! B'nai Emunah is spiritually enriching, intellectual, familial and socially conscious. That is everything I want in a place of worship! read more
