The facilities are well maintained, but the stars here are the wildlife. There is a 12 mile paved bike trail that circumnavigates the lake. Three years ago, they finally found the perfect property - located in the cute little community of Lakewood - and, officially became the owners of multiple homes. Lake Chautauqua is surprisingly idyllic - set in the finger lakes of southwestern New York - it is surrounded by wineries and cute little communities like Bemis Point and Jamestown (which was the birthplace of Lucille Ball.) It's about 40 miles east of Erie, PA and 80 miles south of Buffalo; it is also easy to get to from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and New York City. The lake it's self is about ten miles long and is great for fishing, boating, tubing and other variety of water sports. The Chautauqua Institute is nearby - hosting concerts and a series of high profile speakers (Al Gore, Jane Goodall most recently) throughout the year. The community of Lilydale is host to a psychic community (and, fairy houses) which is renowned throughout the country - a little wacky, if you ask me, but very interesting to visit. Year round it is a beautiful place to live: the colors in the fall are amazing, winter brings lots of ice fishing, skiing and such, spring and summer are big tourist times here. Frankly, the only time I am truly relaxed is for the two weeks of vacation I get to take with my family (yes, I know I am a dork for liking to hang out with my family on vacation.) We sleep late, eat well, sit around on the boat or deck reading/playing cards/staring at the mote in the middle distance, drink wine and just chillax. It's wonderful.

There are bathroom facilities here, along with playground equipment. I would have liked it if the port-a-johns located here had some kind of hand sanitizer available in this time of Corona19, but there was none. This beach has a parking lot, and a boat launch also. My favorite thing about this beach is it also has picnic tables so you can sit down and watch the boats coming and going while you eat your lunch from a local eatery (within walking distance), such as Kettle Lake Kitchen . . . (see additional review for their excellent food). Another really cool thing here, is the Purple Martin birdhouses, which are located high above the beach, but not so high that you cannot see (and hear) the birds. There is informational signage also, which is very educational and teaches about the life cycle of the Purple Martins. I also just like seeing the flagpole here, with the flags flapping in the wind, and the metal clasps lightly clinking as the flags flap and blow. This beach is very nautical, and cool . . . CHEERS! P.S. I believe you have to pay to use the parking / facilities here on weekends, but it is free on weekdays. I have only been here during the week, and I have never seen anyone in the booth collecting an admission fee, but there are prices listed on the booth.

My boat had a shifting problem for close to 5 years since I bought it and a different boat repair…read moreplace said it was impossible to fix the problem because parts were no longer made to fix the issue. Turns out that wasn't correct at all. Findley Lake Marine was able to fix exactly what was wrong and no new parts were needed. It had something to do with an electronic component that needed to be adjusted along with the shift linkage. One of the staff explained in detail the situation I was in and how they were able to fix it. The boat runs better now than it ever has and almost feels like a brand new boat! I would recommend Finley Lake Marine to anyone for their boat's needs. The staff are absolutely wonderful!

The gazebo is a great addition and provides shade and a place to sit, especially during community events or summer concerts. There's a well-maintained walking path, and while there aren't formal pavilions, the lawn and benches make it easy to enjoy a picnic with a great breeze off the lake. It's peaceful, clean, and never too crowded. Parking can be a little tricky since there's no dedicated lot right next to the park, but it's a short walk from nearby street parking. Overall, Ice House Park is a great stop if you're visiting Conneaut Lake whether you're boating, biking, or just looking for a calm, scenic spot to relax.
