Dr Hover was a last resort for me. I had been to 4 other chiropractors over the past 2 years (one…read moreeven caused a new injury) and was about to give up. I thought '1 more try', so I went to see Dr Hover. He took his time taking a thorough history of my issues and created a plan that worked for me. I went from being in daily pain to nearly pain-free. Many days, I do not have any pain. This has improved my quality of life immensely. The office was also understanding with my insurance taking so long to process claims, which is something that is always a challenge with insurance companies. I definitely recommend seeing Dr Hover, especially if you have had problems with other chiropractors.

If you have United Healthcare, do not go here. Hover Chiropractic was first on the list of…read morerecommended care in my area, and it wasn't until after the treatment was completed that I found out Josh personally still has a contract with United Healthcare, but the office he works through (WholeHealth Chicago) does not. After a whopping $125 adjustment + "diagnosis," (conjecture) I found they weren't going to be able to run this charge through my health insurance. After having to pay out of pocket, I called the insurance company who they said they still had an active contract with Josh. I started going back and forth over email where they explained that there was no possible way to run the payment through Josh's contract, and so kindly recommended that I involve a third party service that, "could, potentially, cover out of network claims. But, they also might not." In frustration I said sarcastically, "it's nice to know your company cares," and left it at that. Shortly after, I received a call from Josh who said he saw the emails and offered me a free adjustment. As kind as that was, I don't know what happened in that free adjustment, but I ended up feeling so much worse for the next few days. I'm a bit more familiar with the healing process of back pain by now, and it's not beyond me that sometimes you can be in pain from the adjustment for a few days after, but this felt different. He offered to put me on a regiment of, "$60 per visit, probably a couple times a week? That's when we can really start the actual healing process, does that work for you? Okay good, that is as low as I could possibly make it." Instead, I went to a different chiropractor out of pocket, for a fraction of the price I previously paid, and got immediate/lasting results. There's something to be said about the care I received having an impact of the efficacy of the next chiropractor's work, but in my experience I've often left adjustments feeling generally better than before I came in. Following the two adjustments I received over the span of a week and a half, I can't say I ever really got that feeling. Overall, I would not recommend the treatment I received, and especially not for the price at which I received it.

I had a disappointing experience at Oak Brook Medical Group. During my first visit, the staff was…read morefriendly, and the doctor recommended X-rays, which made sense at the time. However, nothing else happened after that (all the other places I have been before got the X-ray results right away and, based on that, they performed some adjustments). I was sent home and left waiting in pain for another week (my availability and their schedule were conflictual), only to be told at the second appointment that they had a treatment plan for me, which is fine -- costing over $1,000 after the insurance-- without having provided a single session of actual therapy. They insisted I either pay the full amount upfront or commit to a payment plan, and when I asked why I couldn't simply pay per session, I received a vague, unhelpful answer. I also asked for a copy of the treatment plan and was only allowed to take photos of it with my phone -- no printouts, no email. As a conclusion, after two weeks, I left with the same pain I came in with, and no treatment whatsoever. I've since started seeing a different chiropractor who is actually helping and allows pay-as-you-go, which is how it should be. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Oak Brook Medical Group.

Dr. Coffey does not simply treat the symptoms. His healing approach is comprehensive…read moreHe treats the immediate problem, the dysfunction, discomfort, pain, etc, that is the reason why you initially scheduled an appointment. He then identifies the reason for the immediate problem, articulately explains those reasons, and what needs to be done for healing. Dr. Coffey educates. What ultimately sets Dr. Coffey apart from previous doctors of chiropractic, and other health practitioners I have seen, is: He develops a "game plan". that includes functional components, such as strength training, flexibility, nutrition, simple lifestyle, changes, etc. His office is set up like a mini fitness facility. He takes the time, when necessary, to be your personal trainer. He is never in a hurry. He takes, all, the time with you he feels is necessary. I am a former, athlete, high school, coach, now senior citizen. I have had experience with many health practitioners. From my experience, Dr. Coffey, is extraordinary.

I went to this business with a little and occasional knee pain. I have confirmed osteoarthritis in…read morethat knee. It was on a special, something like $49 or $79, I forgot which but not much. I was looking for exercises I could do to strengthen the knee. That's all I wanted. They took X-rays and told me the other knee that I have no problems with was worse! They never mentioned the special and got me for over $500. They told me all the great things they were going to do. They called it physical therapy not chiropractic. They said they could have a therapist stretch my neck. I don't have problems with my neck but I thought a little neck massage by a therapist would feel good. So, when I got there for my first visit, they showed me a leg brace they wanted to fit me for. It was huge and covered most of the leg from the knee down. For what, occasional knee pain? I said no thanks. Then I went for "physical therapy". It was run by 2 young disinterested guys who talked to each other and obviously didn't care about the job. They were definitely not therapists of any kind. Next I went for a few minutes to the supposed real therapists and I thought, oh good, now he's going to massage my neck. No way! He never laid a hand on me. Only did something with a board that I can't even describe because I don't know what it did. Nothing as far as I could tell. Next I went to the nurse who would give me a gel shot in the knee cap. She did this and at my second visit gave me some little shots around the knee cap. The next day I went to the mall and had so much pain in my knee that I was limping down bad I had to go home. That was my over $500 experience with this place. I was worried about their diagnosis of the knee I had no trouble with, that the knee cap was out of joint, so I went back to the real doctors at Northwest Community hospital and got a real unskewed xray and they said that knee was fine. I quit Body Works after 3 visits and asked for the return of my money. I had been told that my insurance and Medicare would pay most of it. Now they told me, well it's not really physical therapy, it's billed under chiropractic and Medicare doesn't usually pay for that, but we will see. Now after months of reaching out to them, they finally told me that after 3 visits my $500 plus dollars was all used up and that I owed them even more but they weren't going to collect it! How nice of them! So go to Body Works if you want to see a real scam at work!

They have the highest academic standards for admission and have a new school in Florida. They have state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. They do a very thorough examination. It is very affordable and the interns are overseen by licensed clinicians like at teaching hospitals. I noticed another comment about adjustments (being too harsh), but interns (as with chiropractors out in the field) have their own styles. A person could request a different intern, though, if they were not satisfied. Doctors change over each semester, so the graduating intern introduces the new intern and transitions you.

The adjustments are supposed to be 'tough'. I don't trust a 'gentle' adjustment because my pain NEVER goes away with a wimp chiropractor! Never. And the funny thing is that I'm always over charged by those people. The best Chiropractor in the area, in my opinion, is Dr. Hayes in Glen Ellyn behind the McDonalds. Don't listen to the first commenter! A GOOD adjustment is always one that really gets ALL of the subluxations and the only way to do that is by really adjusting all of the vertebre. You CAN'T get rid of the subluxations if they're too gentle on you. It's just the way it goes.
