My family had a horrible experience with this practice. Our 1yo son had a seemingly minor reaction to peanut butter so we went to have him tested. We saw Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo, who had terrible bedside manner, but that could be looked past. We had a skin test done and the results prompted Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo to order bloodwork. She had told us that in the meantime she would prescribe an EpiPen. When we went to get the prescription we were told hadn't been called in and had to call the office multiple times over multiple days to finally get the prescription to the pharmacy. (Meanwhile, our son couldn't be in childcare without the EpiPen) We got his blood work done two days after the initial appointment and results came in a few days after that. We waited a week before calling the office to see if it was reviewed, and additional four days later, we still hadn't heard, so followed up again and we're told they would call us back. Hours later we talked with someone in the office that was incredibly insensitive and rude, including laughing at my husband for asking what the next steps would be and to clarify what "strict avoidance" meant. She was incredibly unhelpful, despite telling us that the results show a severe allergy, chiding us for not looking at the patient portal when it was updated 30min prior to them calling us. TL;DR : we had to follow up to get a prescription and blood test results, everyone we interacted with was a rude and insensitive, and the entire time we felt like we were an extremely low priority, despite having a life-threatening allergy identified for my 1yo. read more

Ann by a friend, who was a very nice guy but I felt didn't do a very thorough job when investigating my problem, the appointment lasted literally 5 min, the health assistant was rude and not patient, I felt rushed and didn't get any concrete answers. This is the worst experience I have ever had in health care. This includes military sick call, and VA clinics, so this is serious. The doctor is knowledgeable, but the staff continually prove to be less than competent. Two visits in a row to receive allergy shots I have wasted my time and gas driving to the office to be told that I couldn't have the shot. The first was because during the middle of winter, while the air was dry, I coughed in the waiting room after my shot. The nurse insisted that instead of dry air and a lack of water, that it must be an allergic reaction, and she noted in my file that I had a reaction. Yes, after almost 2 years of having shots. Never having a reaction. Telling her the air was dry. So, the next shot was not given because they "needed to drop me down to a lower dose", and my very well known insurance "wouldn't process the payment for it"? I'm sure someone will say they were being cautious. GREAT! It was not, and was clearly stated that it was not, an allergic reaction. So, fast forward to this last visit. I show up to the appointment after having confirmed with the doctor, and twice with the staff, that my appointment would be in West Hartford. OOPS! We don't have your serum here in West Hartford, where it was made. We accidently sent it to Avon office, and can't see you until next week. Been almost 3 months without a shot. Might as well for convenience, and for my health, start looking for a competent allergy office to get treatments without the OOPS, or the denial of services. read more

Though there was a delay that caused us to see the doctor about 20 minutes late, the delay was communicated and the front office staff seemed very empathetic. I'm never happy about a delay but as long as it's explained to me and I'm given a reasonable timeframe, I am satisfied. Once in the exam room, Dr. Factor came right in and we were finished in no time. The practice has transitioned to COVID accommodations very well. The paperless process and text messaging is very much appreciated. I would recommend the COVID process for appointments be abbreviated in the text message rather than directing me to the website. read more

My experience with CT Ashma and allergy has been mixed but my overall rating is poorer and I would absolutely not recommend them. Good: My first visit with the doctor was really good. Took time to discuss. She was polite and professional. Some of the staff are okay. Polite professional. The nurses that have provided my shots have always been polite and professional but I do not do them very friendly. Bad: Poor coordination between locations. I only go to one site so not sure why I had to fill out applications twice cause they said they did not have them. Later they apologized and indicated the other site never shared with this site. Aggravating for me. Poor communications with patient. Phone message says to wait in parking lot if you have an appointment and they will call you when they are ready. 10 minutes after my appt I called from the parking lot. Waited on hold for 10 minutes before I could speak to anyone. They said oh, that does not apply to people coming in for shot. It's now 20 minutes past my appointment. Did they prioritize me to get my shot because of the mix up. No. They treated me just like I had walked in late and I got out in the wait que. horrible. Called the main office and asked them to update the message to make this more clear to new customers. It's been over 2 months and no change. My suggestion was ignored. My most recent experience was calling to cancel an appointment. Waited 10 minutes on hold. The. Hung up and chose the option of you are calling from a doctors office. Picked up on first ring. I was then told this was an emergency line and cut me off mid conversation and transferred to the main line to starting all over again in the queue. Called back the "calling from dr office" option and she picked up again. Told me she could not talk to me. INTERESTING TO ME THST THEY PRIOROTIZE DOCTORS CALLING BUT THE PAYONG CUSTOMERS ITS OKAY TO WAIT IN ANPHKNE QUE. Called the main office and spoke to a supervisor. She indicated that they are short staffed having a hard time hiring people which I understand. Interestingly this issue does not affect the phone line for other doctors offices calling in. It is clear to me that this office does not appreciate or prioritize its paying customers. The experience has been horrible. So I would absolutely not recommend this CAAC. It's feel too much like a n assembly line and I feel like a cattle waiting in line for the feed trough. I do not get the feeling that they appreciate my business and I do not feel like their primary focus is on the patient experience. They do, however, put a lot of value on other doctors calling their practice. That is clearly high priority for them. I myself am looking for a new place to get my monthly shots. I just will not spend this amount of out of pocket money to be treated in this manner. read more

Dr. Schwarz and the team at CAAC are amazing. My daughter has a severe tree nut allergy as well as seasonal allergies and oral allergy syndrome. A quick appointment kept us informed about when and why to test for her food allergies and refilled her Auvi-Q prescriptions. The sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) drops have totally controlled her seasonal allergies--one Claritin all season!!! Dr. Schwarz is the best kind of doctor--to the point and thoughtful. read more

I have been battling Asthma for the past 15 years. I have been going to CT Asthma and Allergy for the past 10. I find they are convenient when trying to make appointments. They have several locations so they can usually get you in somewhere if you need something quickly. My original doctor retired a couple years ago and I have since been seeing Dr. Lee. He will make suggestions but also is willing to listen to your input in how to to best approach your treatment. read more

Well, they figured out what I was allergic to, so five stars for that! Cats, trees, and mold, friends. Clearly, I'm a fun person to be around. CT Asthma and Allergy center was a lot better than I anticipated, given that I get woozy at every medical office I've been to, even though I'm not weird about needles or blood or anything like that. Even though I got totallly woozy at the skin test, they were cool about it (and boo, didn't get any results out of it), and were quick with the blood test to get my quick results. Overall, it was a straightforward, efficient visit with friendly, helpful, educational staff. I guess that's all you can ask for at a place like this. read more

Dr Factor changed my son's asthma plan after listening to me describe what has been happening this winter. It was much appreciated. He also made sure his breathing was ok by checking in with some various breathing tests, both before he had an inhaler and after. I've been going to the Hamden office since relocating to CT in August. Started off positive and then the interactions deteriorated significantly. Unorganized and poor communication. Nursing staff has always been kind but they can't make up for that disaster of an office. Because of inefficient communication (not returning phone calls, not following up with me with messages I've left), changing office hours without ample notification and poor planning overall I've gotten significantly off schedule with allergy shots that I've been on for 2.5 years. I have to go to another practice and will likely be put back several steps in my regime. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. read more

I have always hated going to the asthma/allergy specialist, but today I saw Dr. Schwarz for the first time, and he was awesome. Very knowledgeable, listens well, isn't pushy or annoying like some specialists tend to be, and I was in and out. The office is very nice and clean, and it was an overall pleasant dr's visit. Dr. Factor is super considerate and thorough. He was sensitive and respectful of my insurance restrictions, but still tested me for everything under the sun, which as an opera singer is very important. I left the office with things to try (which have been working great for me) for my allergies and asthma, and we have a plan to combat the things that affect me in my day to day. read more

We were referred here by our pediatrician after our 6 month old daughter appeared to have a reaction to eggs. Dr. Schwartz was entirely unprofessional, hasty, and rude. He spent no time explaining the skin tests to me, and was dismissive of my concerns and experience. My husband was unable to come in to the appointment because of COVID precautions. I was told I could call him during the visit so he could be a part of the conversation. The doctor did not even acknowledge my desire to call my husband or give me the time to do so. In and out. I'm mortified by this practice and the lack of "bedside manner". I would not recommend going here if you want to be spoken to in a kind and professional manner. read more

Two issues: Because of the limited Hamden office schedule & because all shipped medications are received in the West Hartford office, it has delayed my injectible medication so it might happen to you. Complicating this is the 2nd concern which is being told by at my last visit on 3/4 that they would confirm shipment with the pharmacy for my next injection; a week and a half later when I checked with the pharmacy & was told that hadn't been done; that same day, I placed a call to the CAAC number & told the "operator" my problem/concern and was told my message would be sent to the nurse. Today - four days later - I called the pharmacy & was told they still needed prior authorization to ship. 12 days after I first mentioned my concern to the shot nurse & nothing was done!!! Please note: none of this has anything to do with covid-19 as that seems to be the new excuse for any glitches. read more

We initially went to Connecticut Asthma and Allergy to see Dr. Mendelson who was an amazing physician. In the past few years he has started to cut back to almost no practice time. Unfortunately this also means that the practice has really been headed down hill. I called to set up an appointment for my daughter and was told the she already had an existing appointment. When we arrived on the day of the appointment to the office over an hour from my home, we discovered that the incompetent receptionist had thought we had an appointment, but was really looking at last years appointment. Not only did we have no appointment, but were told that we would have to wait three hours to "maybe" get seen. We left. I do not think we will be back. read more

Dr. Hernandez has been my allergist for years. She is well aware I have a life threatening tree nut allergy and would not fill my epi pen prescription for me while I was out of state because I hadn't been there recently. I'm sorry that is just horrible and unacceptable. read more

The process testing for allergies was quite simple. My son did not care for it but everyone was very nice and careful.

Stay away from this place. Dr was very nice but front office staff and billing are a nightmare. I scheduled an appt for testing and was given the wrong information by the woman who scheduled my appt for how long I would need to be there. I was told I would be coming in for multiple appts and that the first appt would be for one hour. I showed up at my scheduled time and then in discussion with the Dr. I was told I would only need to be there for just one appt for all the testing, but that it would be for four hours. I had a daughter to pick up from school that day and had not planned for 4 hours and the doctor was very upset that his staff gave me the wrong information, he apologized and told me I could cancel the appt and come back on another day. I asked if there would be a charge for that day and I was told no. When I received my bill I was charged for two office visits. I called the office 3 times; once to billing and was told I had to talk to the staff because they couldn't help me. So, I called the scheduling staff who said there was nothing they could do and that I had to call billing...round and round with no answers, no decency to call me back when they said they would, and a nasty and extremely rude rep in billing who could have cared less, constantly cut me off, and said I was responsible for the bill. End of story and they had zero willingness to talk to the doctor to confirm what he told me. I was left with $1,381 in charges for a penicillin allergy test and with insurance, my balance was still $540. Aside from the $938 in testing fees, the office fee was $380. After suffering for allergies for about 8 years it became worse as the years went by. I ended up having a emotional service dog for my child and I became so allergic to him that I couldn't walk in my home. After getting tested I found out I was allergic to more than just Dogs. It was a great experience, nice office and amazing staff. They gave me the nest information for once I started my shots due to my insurance and have amazing payment plans. read more

This review pertains specifically to Dr. Abosh and the billing department. I visited this practice in July 2020 in regards to severe skin condition that I have been experiencing for some time. At this appointment, the doctor did a very straightforward examination of my skin and explained the results of a prick test that was taken by a nurse. I was in and out of the office within a half hour, and only spoke to the doctor for a total of 15 minutes, feeling rushed the entire time. A month later, I was billed an extraordinary amount, and the code used within the bill was for a 45 minute appointment, that included the doctor taking a "comprehensive history, a comprehensive examination, and medical decision making of moderate complexity" which is much more complicated than the services that were actually performed at my appointment. When I called to dispute the code that was used, I was told that Dr. Abosh would review my bill and that I would hear back within 2-5 business days, which never happened. I called back a month later, and was told that Dr. Abosh agreed with the code that was used for her services, without being given a substantive explanation as to why this particular code was used. I was overbilled by this practice, and find it extremely disappointing that doctors are able to take advantage of their patients in this manner. My experience with Dr. Abosh and with the billing department of Connecticut Allergy & Asthma Center was a negative one, and I would certainly not recommend this group to anyone. read more

We were referred by our Pediatrician to CAAC. Dr. Abbosh was on vacation so Dr. Factor who was covering was asked to run lab work on my son to help diagnose his illness. I called and spoke with Dr. Factor. I explained what the tests were for and why the timing during his illness was critical. We were informed today that the one test we requested was not done we live in the New Haven Area. I took a day to travel to Middletown to make sure this was done correctly and it was a waste of time, money and most of missed the illness. read more

This place will SCAM you out of you $$$. If I could give zero stars I would... Had a visit for my allergy to alcohol such as NyQuil, nasal spray, etc. When I showed up they didn't have anything to test me with and instead tested me for other things. Results on the other items (that I never said I was allergic to) came back negative. Doctor told me, when I come back bring the items I'm allergic to. Why wasn't I told this before? I asked for a deep discount because I did not receive a proper consultation or my next appointment should be free. They charged me $343.59 and won't give me a discount or my next appointment free of charge. They had NOTHING to offer to make it right. I told you what my allergy was and I scheduled my appointment weeks in advance, why weren't you prepared when I showed up? He told me next time bring the items I'm allergic to? Isn't this an allergy center?? Aren't you the ones charging $400 a visit and you can't have the product prepared for when I get there? What am I paying for??? The woman on the phone said, "Sorry, there's nothing we can do". I'm not buying that. You should make it right with your clients. Judging by the current 2.3 stars, your business really needs to put some effort into client sat/exp because right now, you're failing and it's only going to get worse!! read more

I was very disappointed with my experience here. The check in process was fairly easy, as was getting an appointment. Dr. Hernandez was nice. She was very professional without being too standoffish. She spent an adequate amount of time with us and developed a decent treatment plan. She allegedly sent an electronic prescription for my child's eczema cream at 10am....and that's where it all started. When we went to pick it up, lo and behold, no prescription!!!! Okay....mistakes happen. We called the office and they said they would take care of it right away. I called CVS again an hour later.....still no prescription. I'm starting to get frustrated because it was a Friday and we'd then have to wait until Monday. Meanwhile, my child's eczema is cracked and bleeding. So.....I called the office again and spoke to a nice woman named Yyvone. She said it was a good thing I called back because the other call had never been processed. WTH????? She said she'd true care of this personally and that Dr. Hernandez's assistant would call when it was put through. 2 hours later (it's now 6pm), I received a semi-snotty VM on my non-contact number that stated my prescription was called in....and that Dr. Hernandez was very busy today. That was the last straw for me. I took the day off of work for this appointment and spent most of it trying to track down a prescription....which is something that should have been taken care of before we left. I don't care how busy ANY of them are. My time is valuable, too. It shouldn't take multiple calls at the 11th hour to get our medicine. And I was a new patient!!!! What a welcome!!! If this is how they do things, I'll gladly take my child somewhere else. I will be cancelling our follow up visit. What a terrible experience. read more

I can't say enough how happy my husband and I are with the the care our daughter received at CAA. From the receptionist, to the nurses and of course Dr. Schwarz. He was very thorough and patient.
