Decided to give this studio a chance as they claim to be the best in town for ballet and dance…read more Teachers are VERY young and green and were late to teach class a few times during the brief semester we were there. The Acro class is literally girls doing forward rolls, ridiculous! In addition, the studio director is extremely disorganized and lacks communication with parents. There are constant hidden fees for everything. For example: there is a registration fee every semester, not for the year as other studios do... mandatory leotards are to be ordered and worn to class, $30 each. They arrived when the season was OVER...4 months to receive them, unacceptable. Additionally, from the moment you open the downstairs door to enter the studio, the stench is overwhelming. The bathrooms are ALWAYS filthy, floors are clearly never cleaned or moped whether it be in the studio or waiting room. There are NO DOORKNOBS OR HANDLES to open the doors to the studio dance rooms, a child's hand is caught almost every single time I am there. Their excuse is the doors are old and they have not been able to find a doorknob that fits It's a miracle no one has shut this place down. There are tons of other dance schools for your child to go to, that follow the ABT curriculum, have experienced teachers that show up on time and a director who cares and takes pride in their facilities presentation and cleanliness and teachings. Do your research and take a tour in person before joining this sub par at best dance school. Very disappointing!

The Steffi community is truly a family. My sisters and I all danced here and have made friendships that have lasted far beyond our high school years. While some who train here go on to a professional dance career, others have continued to find the joy of dance in all aspects of their life. We were able to work with choreographers like Patrick Corbin, Sidra Bell, Peter Pucci, Nancy Lushington, Michael Foley, Annmaria Mazzini, Sabatino Verlezza and Pam Tanowitz. We were able to perform as young girls in the outstanding SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center, and other prominent venues in NYC. Steffi Nossen's studios are beautiful and centrally located in White Plains. In addition to Modern training, Steffi Nossen has incredible ballet, jazz, hip hop, and tap classes as well. I began at SNS at age 3, and I know many others who spent their childhood years here too. Without a doubt this school is unique and special. It's not just the best school in Westchester, Steffi Nossen also boasts a thriving foundation that seeks to bring dance to all people - regardless of personal circumstance. Their Moving Wheels and Heels program features adaptive dance for both stand up and wheelchair dancers. As a student at the school, I was able to work with this program. As a young woman, being able to not just hone my own technique, but also give back in such a fundamental way, was truly remarkable. I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for high caliber dance training in a supportive environment. Steffi dancers stay connected long after high school. What a pleasure…read moreto be able to enjoy all styles of dance (ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz, lyrical and pointe) done by all ages; from the precious littlest girls performing for the first time to the high school seniors who were performing for the last time. The large production numbers were a treat, as well as the special senior and alumni dances, the competition duet and the competition team performance. Looking forward to future shows. Job well done to all the students and teachers, especially Miss Mary Ellen!

The H+M acting program is a real find for those folks interested in theatre training, gaining…read moreexposure to different acting techniques or who are just interested in getting an introduction the performing arts. The staff is open, friendly, understanding and responsive - they really do try to make each class experience a positive one. There's a no frills, compact organization which creates a more causal, safe environment that allows people to explore both individually and as a group to see what acting feels like. The program's teachers are focused and supportive...and students are friendly, nervous and hard-working. There were folks from many different generations which has made it dynamic and interesting. Some of my fellow students are already working as extras or in student films, some are taking class purely as a way to get back their authentic voice after spending years in office environments and there's a few who have the moxy to possibly go onto to do something professionally in the future. Most classes are one night a week late (from 7:30-10:30PM), so you can put as much or as little into it as you want. The church that hosts the program is beautiful and has a big space to roam in. I highly recommend giving one of their programs a try, or attending one of their Open House nights to get a sense of the place.

The school is a franchise that relies on a set lesson structure to get you to the next level. The system works, although how fast you learn depends on the talent of you and the talent of your teacher. We had Jamie and found her to be quite good. She was spunky and had good corrections. Lesson prices are expensive, comparable to the Fred Astaire studios, but this is the norm.
