It was founded by a group of Trinity College students that included Peter Stott, Ted Kroll, Peter McMorris, Charles Rumsey, James Hanley, Anne Risdon, Larry Stires and Randy Man. The group of film-obsessed students made a home for themselves in a little-used lecture hall inside the Clement Chemistry Building. The room, unfortunately, possessed troubled acoustics. Within two years, and with the help of Ralph Mauro from National Theater Supply and Lonny Jennings at Dolby, the sound issues were rectified and the room was transformed into a recreation of a 1930s film house. The grand opening (a double feature of "Alice's Restaurant" and The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine") was sold out. Cinestudio screens a variety of second-run, independent, foreign, and classic films. The single-screen venue has a seating capacity of approximately 485, 4K Digital Cinema systems, as well as 35mm and 70mm film projectors for use in studio archive presentations. Cinestudio features a spectacular gold Austrian screen curtain that rises at every show, real balcony seating, and the gold lion courant insignia. I recently visited Cinestudio for the first time. I read about it and an online article and couldn't believe that I had never heard of it before. I parked in a small parking lot on Summit Street and followed the sign which led me through a stone archway. As I walked along the Main Quad, I saw the neon color-changing lights of Cinestudio. Entering Cinestudio is a blast from the past. I purchased my ticket at the Fred Pfeil Memorial Ticket Booth (only $10 a show) and then headed to the concessions area where I purchased a giant bucket of popcorn for only $5. A volunteer told me, "The balcony is nice, but if this is your first time here then I recommend the lower level. You can hear the sound system much better." The interior of the theater was absolutely gorgeous with red accents. The film that I was seeing during my visit was the 1978 remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers": part of the theater's ongoing series "Our National Nightmare: 2026 Anxieties in 1970s American Film". Many screenings at Cinestudio are introduced by a guest speaker; this one featured Roger Benham. Although I have seen this film a number of times before, this was my first time seeing it on the silver screen....and it was so much more frightening now. This was my first visit to Cinestudio, but it certainly won't be my last!

I have seen the shows there the past 3-4 years and they are all awesome. Every production I have seen there has been top notch, on every level. The sets are amazing, the direction/choreography is great, and all of their actors are some of the best around. I highly recommend you check out this theater!

This is still very reasonably priced compared to other theaters around. I don't go to as many movies these days (not as many as when I wrote my first review back in 2013) but I always check the Parkade's showings as my first go to option. They have jazz artists all across the country come and perform. They also have a bunch of vendors and food trucks come. All the food and drinks are delicious. A great variety! The festival is free to get into and also plenty of free on street parking. A lot of people come with blankets, wine and candles which makes for a nice atmosphere. It's a great time!!

They bring in top quality performers , I haven't been disappointed yet! I have been going here for over a year and it has improved. They are in an old warehouse on route 32. Last year it was very cold, I noticed this year the windows are covered making it much more agreeable as I am always cold! Catering to a mature crowd, it is not boisterous and you can actually hear the lyrics. Tickets can be purchased on line and they partner with Willington Pizza so you get a 15% discount with your ticket. Bring your own food and beer or wine keeps the evening out very affordable.Please support this non profit gem so it can continue. They are bringing a much needed bit of social life to our rural community.

The theater has been around a while and definitely shows some wear and tear. The carpet could stand a good steaming and some of the seats have rocked a bit too much and are now off kilter. The ticket purchase and concessions were quick, but there were not a lot of people around. The theatre we sat in had one big isle running up the middle, I prefer a seat directly in front of the screen so that wasn't even an option. There were two seat styles and the recliners looked a little rough so we sat in the very reclining theatre seats. The volume was a touch loud, but the picture was great. Not a bad experience for our first movie in like 3 years.
