I read every review -- good and bad -- and even called other shops to ask if they'd heard of Joe. They had. One shop even told me they bought a boat from him with zero issues. That told me a lot about his reputation. As someone who's mechanically knowledgeable, I'm careful about who I trust. My first phone call with Joe sealed it. He knew his stuff immediately. We talked through which replacement motor made the most sense for my budget and horsepower goals, and he didn't dodge any of the concerns I brought up from the reviews. His reputation clearly matters to him. Joe was originally hired to replace a motor that had been destroyed by an overheating issue. After the new engine went in, the boat still had a rare overheating problem. Joe kept me fully aware of the diagnostic challenges, even when it caused delays. He was transparent the whole way. The issue turned out to be so uncommon that even the manufacturer -- and several experienced mechanics Joe consulted -- had never seen it before. But Joe didn't quit. He chased it down until he solved it, and the boat now runs great. I stopped by Rod's Fiberglass to get an estimate on painting my boat. He asked if it needed…read morepainting or if the gelcoat was in good enough shape to sand, polish and recondition. I told him the boat / fiberglass shop I just picked up the boat from sanded and polished a couple of places and said the gelcoat was too bad of shape and needed to be repainted. So we got together on about what to expect in painting it. So Rod picked the boat up at my storage and took it to his shop so he could give an accurate estimate for the work needed and materials. A few days later he told me to come to the shop and we would go over the estimate. He had polished 3 places on the boat and said the gelcoat was good. The polished places looked good. So we decided to recondition the gelcoat. He removed all the interior, gauges, engine and disconnected all the hydraulics. Later reinstalled it all. After all the cleaning and polishing he sprayed clearcoat on it. It looked perfect. Looked like it did when new. Rod's bid was spot on. His bid for repainting if we had to was a few thousand dollars less than two other quality shops. Plus saving the gelcoat kept the boat's value up. Rod touched base with me weekly and sent pictures to keep me aware of the progress. It could not of gone any better. In the future if I need fiberglass or paint work I will definitely go to Rod.

Hacks! Avoid Hall's Auto Electric! I took my truck in with a…read morecylinder one misfire. 8 weeks in total they had my truck. In that entire 8 weeks I got not one single phone call from the desk-squatter Paul that literally sits next to a phone all day. They charged me $6920 and gave my truck back to me with not only the cylinder one still misfiring but now cylinder 6 as well, and told me that my AC that worked perfectly fine before they got hold of now has a broken compressor, and also now I have a bottom end issue not covered under the work they did. I paid my own mechanic to check their work. There is no bottom end issue. He fixed both misfires by installing two msd solenoids! And the compressor on my AC--works fine--they didn't refill the Freon that they extracted from it! Also found missing bolts. Complete hacks wasted 8 weeks of my life with their incompetence, and I still had to pay another mechanic another $800 to fix their hack diagnosis/work! Avoid these low end losers!
