She received it as a wedding gift in approximately 1944. After a lot of research, a local company told me about Fallani's Restoration. When I dropped it off to Mauro at Fallani's, he asked for the history. I told him it is my paternal Grandmother's cedar chest; how the piece has passed from one family member to the next; and how I really want my Father to see his Mother's cedar chest fully restored before he passes. Mauro took all of this to heart and said "I want to make it perfect for your family." Today I picked up the piece and I can wholeheartedly say he did exactly that! My family is so pleased, and we are especially happy that during the entire restoration I told Mauro "restore it as if it was yours." I can't explain how happy all of family is about Grandma's cedar chest as I have sent pictures around. Thank you, thank you, thank you Mauro!

For me it's the experience - the time spent looking, studying, and simply browsing a collection is worth gold to me. Chemers Gallery in Tustin is that place that offers that whole experience. Every time I go in there, which I admit isn't near often enough but probably more than some, I delight in "finds". I have a fairly decent collection of artwork and it's not confined to paintings. I've ceramics, sculptures, glasswork, pottery, photographs, and a few weird pieces of found object works as well. Quite a few of those pieces have come from this jewel of a gallery so close to home. The owner Karen, and her friendly staff have always allowed me the luxury to simply roam. I have to walk through numerous times to take everything in. I get distracted by one or two pieces and then turn around and find something else completely unexpected. And, it becomes mine. I love this place!! I am a retired healthcare designer and Chemers was the art consultant on a few of our firms healthcare projects. What I enjoyed was the chosen works were always different from the predictable works too often seen in healthcare spaces and, they always complimented the concepts of our interiors. I also love the shows and exhibitions they often host here. Often soliciting works from local artists, craftspeople, and even foodies, these "pop-up" shows are always good for gifts, wearables, and sometimes taste-ables! And if I'm lucky, I often walk away with a new piece! I always look forward to stopping in on these shows and could spend an hour or more perusing. Do yourself a favor and visit this gallery - oh, and of course, don't forget, they also do excellent framing!!

I found a painting quite literally yesterday, brought it in immediately after, and within 24 hours I've got a fully framed beauty ready to hang on the wall. First off, the selection of frames is amazing - and there was absolutely no upselling involved. Dory helped find the perfect frame for my (pretty gigantic) painting, and it was about 1/3rd of the cost that I was anticipating for a work of this size. Dory asked me if I had any deadline and I told her I didn't, but that I also am not the most patient person so sooner is always appreciated. I did NOT expect that sooner meant the very next day. OMYGOSH... where do I start…read more I first came across 'Sam' about 20+ years ago... I needed a clock repaired... I had been told 'Sam can fix anything'!!! Sure enough service with a smile... All and anything, Sam is the person to repair and or create... Lately I have been collecting antique medals and Sam turns them into rings or earrings... compliments abound every time I wear these treasures... I have never heard Sam say...
