My daughters grandfather made her this handmade rocking horse for Christmas. I highly recommend Custom Antique Restoration to anyone needing to refurbish old wooden furniture. I have an old étagère and it was in dreadful condition due to being stored outside by the previous owner. Mr. Hernandez did a wonderful job filling in the cracks, replacing the backboards, clearing the scratches and finishing the surface entirely in this rich mahogany color. He even installed new dowels so the upper portion can sit more stable. He and his wife came to pick up then deliver this piece. I told him to take as much time as he liked but the whole process only took a month. His price is not inexpensive but still way more affordable than other local workshops, and it's totally worth it. I am so impressed with the quality of the work Jose did on my Mom's mirror. The mirror originally hung in my great-grandmothers home. It may go back further than that. It has been passed down through the generations. One day, during Covid, it dropped off the wall at my mom's home and the frame broke into pieces. She was heartbroken. It sat on her stairs for two years. Two weeks ago I followed through on my promise to get it fixed for her. When I read the reviews on Jose's work, I knew he could do it. I dropped the pieces off at his house and about 9 days later he called to tell me it was done. I couldn't tell were the joined pieces were put back together. He truly is an artist. Jose is a problem solver. We have a WWII wooden trunk that needed leather handles replaced but unfortunately we have misplaced the key to open the trunk. Jose drove the truck to a locksmith that specializes in antique locks and keys but it would have cost us double the quoted price to replace the handle so instead, he accessed the inside of the trunk a different way and was able to successfully change out the handles.
