From the minute we walked in we received excellent customer service from everyone. The staff went out of their way to move a difficult piece of furniture so that I could see it better. Andy was extremely patient and more than willing to help us find what we were looking for. We bought a sofa, loveseat with ottoman, coffee table, and end table -- all in excellent condition. And it was delivered within a few hours to our home. The delivery people were very careful with the furniture and very polite. Ya, I have to agree with Tom S. Certainly my least favorite consignment shop experience in the desert and it isn't close. This place was recommended to me so I went. Maybe I am not their normal clientele? (I'm 31...). Very odd "joke" was made to me as soon as I walked in. The guy said, "Welcome! The showroom is back there, and we won't let you out unless you buy something!" ...awkward pause then... "ha ha ha!!! Just kidding!" Uhh, hehe, ok? Hmmm. Everyone likes to shop unencumbered, right? Well, they missed that memo here. I was followed around the store step by step by a woman with an absolutely suffocating amount of perfume on, like, literally it was highly unpleasant to breathe anywhere in a ten foot radius of her. Every single item I even looked at, whether or not I expressed any interest, she had to mention what kind of price they would give me. She kind of got it after a while that I kept giving no response to her constant sales barrage and walking away from her physical vicinity on behalf of my still somewhat healthy, non-smoker's alveoli; nevertheless, she did that old routine of kind of pretending to look at some item in the other corner of each room I entered while furtively stealing glances my way. Wow!! Did they think I was a thief???! How many lamps and paintings was I going to stuff into my pockets before making a run for it??? As far as the selection, eh. The other shops I've seen have just the same and mostly better. The recommendation had come with "their prices are more fair." I didn't notice any price difference at all. Does anyone believe the other shops aren't competing? I did buy one piece that matched something rare I have, which had been sitting there for a long time so had had its price reduced. The guy at the checkout was strange. Weirdly forced friendliness. It was all I could do to mutter, in so many words, "ya whatever man." so he would just hand over the receipt for me to sign. I was thrilled to get out of there. Will not go back. Everything I DO NOT want to experience in a shopping environment, I experienced there. Ugh. read more

Extensive building with very good quality furniture - many well known brands at a fraction of the original price. Bought 2 lamps and 2 end tables there this week that fit beautifully in my new home. They may "bend over" (taken from another review) for buyers, but this place is a JOKE for the sellers. I have never dealt with more deceitful people in all my life. I called around the PS area to sell my Mid-Century dining room set and after speaking with many other shops, Michael sold me on their business and the great price my set would bring. He told me (after seeing it in person) that my set would bring $6300. But the game they play is that they tell you a price you'd like to hear and each month, 20% is taken off the price. So if they don't sell it, your 55% share is much less than you can sell it on your own. When I went down there with my trailer to pick everything up, one of my pieces was "missing" from the showroom. They told me it SOLD. What? I told them NOT to sell my stuff because I was going down there to pick it up. And maybe they should have told me BEFORE I DROVE TO PALM SPRINGS that something had sold? The sheepish looks I got from Debbie and Michael told me that they didn't really sell my item, but that it was hidden from plain sight - especially since no one could give me a straight answer as to when it "sold." This is a direct quote from Michael, "I knew I should never have dealt with you since you talked to that c*nt" (my friend heard him say that). He was referring to one of his competitors who I spoke with on the phone. Funny thing is that I called EVERY place in Palm Springs - not just (her). Michael promised me the highest sales price...(that's the little game they play to get your business) but they also take the highest percentage - 45%. All the other shops want 30-38%. He then told me that "We have a contract..." - Yeah it's a 90-day contract so it had already expired. Every time I called them, Debbie kept putting me on hold or telling me she'll have to call me back - when in reality, she knows nothing and has to speak with Tony or Michael - who are magically either not there or not available. So she's nothing but a receptionist - do NOT deal with her - it's pointless. And be aware that they only cut checks on the 15th of the month and they have YET to send me my check! Next to ZERO communication, deceitful business practices... oh and here's my fave - Michael gets really spiteful and pissy when the deal goes sour. He'll tell you that your pieces are dirty or damaged, etc (like they did in the other review). Ummm my grandmother's dining set was from 1953... of course there will be blemishes. But then why did he tell me that the set would bring $6300 - "pretty easily" after seeing it in person? Next stop - small claims court. Really? Avoid these clowns. UPDATE: Correction - Tony Clark just told me he's going to wait until March 1st to send my check, even though co-owner Michael told me it would be sent on Feb 15th. He also told me that my piece sold on Feb 1st...which is strange since I spoke with Debbie on the 6th and she told me nothing had sold at that point. MORE LIES. This is the kind of crap you'll deal with when dealing with these clowns. read more

I challenged myself to decorate and furnish my entire home via consignment stores. His company was and is my favorite of all. I have been telling people about him for years and have found that many of my friends have already worked with him. I have sold and bought.... Mostly bought! All consignment stores change prices after a month. Normal practice. It's "move em in and move em out". That's what you want! If your item doesn't get sold right away then it is not worth what you thought. Patrick is a true gem in this industry. read more

I've actually never used Yelp before and created an account for the sole purpose of reviewing this business. My husband and I have been in the shop three or four times and consigned with them once but we will not be shopping nor consigning with them again. First of all, let's talk about the furniture consignment business in the desert as a whole. The big issue that ALL of the 3 big consignment houses have is that they do not pay the consigner automatically when an item sells. What do I mean by this? If you have something that sells, a business being run properly and legitimately would mail you a check for your portion of the proceeds from the sale without you having to chase it. Most consignment houses pay out on a monthly basis -- but none of them send it to you automatically. If this is a business, give me MY money! We have a business arrangement so treat this as a business. Instead, they wait for you to contact them. It literally took us months and months to get paid by Consign Design. I called, my husband called and would be told that Shirleen (their bookkeeper) was out. I came to realize that Shirleen was out more than she was in. BTW, Shirleen never returned my calls. I've spoken to quite a number of people who have consigned furniture and what these stores in the desert bank on is that many people will forget that they are owed money and the consignment houses will NEVER call or email to let you know that they owe you money. So, if you don't ask for your money, it just stays in their bank account and ultimately . . . . well, you can finish that thought. If you consign, stay on top of the consignment shop and make them pay you regularly. And make it clear from the beginning that you will expect to be paid in a timely and regular manner. Find out what the parameters of payment are and make them stick to the agreement. This sort of behavior gets filed under "shady" in my book. The inventory in the store is hit and miss. Mostly a miss. Lots of out-of-date furniture that should be donated to a thrift shop rather than take up space in an establishment supposedly handling high-end furniture. And lots of furniture piled on top of other furniture so it impossible to see some items properly. Handling furniture this way is also a good way for furniture to get damaged. If they don't have proper space to display their wares, they should not be taking in more inventory. Common sense 101. If I consigned items and came in to find them jammed in a back room and out-of-sight, I would cry foul loud and long. The employees have been trained to follow shoppers around and stick to them like glue. Personally, when I'm "looking", I'm looking. I want to see what a shop has and then, if I have questions, I want a knowledgeable employee to answer them. I do not need a salesperson following me around trying to talk-up each item I glance at for longer than a second. Greet customers, give them an overview of how the store is arranged and then let them be. If they're looking for something in particular, by all means show them what you have and then let them make a decision without being pressured. There was a woman working at the front desk on one of my visits who was ridiculously loud and obnoxious and I was shocked that a business owner would allow such a person to be the first and last thing that customers see and hear when shopping in the store. She had short red hair but I did not get her name. A reminder to the business owner: Employees are the face and voice of your business! I would say that there's room in the desert for someone to come in and open a better consignment store than what's currently available. I will review The Estate Sale and Misty's as well. read more

I went out yesterday in search of a living room area rug. This store was the second place I looked. Andy was incredibly helpful, and took me around the store to show me what they had in the color I wanted. When I found one, his guys moved the furniture off it, folded it up, and carried it to my car. Ivy quickly wrote me up a "memo" invoice, meaning I could bring it back today if it didn't work. Well, it was perfect! I called the store and told them to charge my card. The process was so easy, and the staff could not have been more helpful. Kudos! read more

If you are looking to consign pieces of your own, do not choose Consign Design. They are unoraganized and unethical. Where other consign stores in the area list your items and provide pricing upfront and send to you via email in a very professional manner, these people never tell you what they plan to sell your item for, what it actually sold for or send you a check until you ask. Items are thrown throughout the store and break or stored in one of their back rooms full of junk that no one ever has a chance to see. The fact that no one is up front or honest, made me write this review. There are plenty of other lovely consignment stores that are professional and display your things beautifully. read more

I love this store, there's always so many great items here. I bought a fabulous 11 1/2 foot tall antique buffet for about a quarter of the price you might see in L.A. and also a huge rococo mirror that is so fabulous. It's always on my resale shopping list of great places to look through. Everyone there is so nice and helpful.
