We finally signed loan…read morepaperwork and began making payments in Feb 2023, yet he still has not prioritized completing our project, despite being paid in full at that time. We've been making solar loan payments and also paying our PNM bills for our two houses for 9 months now. Mark keeps saying he's going to pay us back for this, but we haven't seen a dime of reimbursement, even after sending him all documentation requested.. multiple times. We've had an open trench in our entryway since February as well. Despite there being no movement or hurry on his end for months, Mark randomly sprang up and pressured us to quickly dig the trench for the underground work with very little lead time. We let him know we were prepping to host a large event that weekend and requested we wait a few more days until after the event before beginning the work, but he assured us the trench would be filled in before that. It was not. In fact, this gaping hazard still sits there, wide open, at the end of Oct 2023. We had to put in a makeshift bridge over it to enter our home. We've had kids, adults and pets fall into it. Mark nor his team never even offered to help make our entryway safe for the event or any points beyond. When we reached out to him about it again months later, he wasn't even aware it was still open. Mark's communication skills are sorely lacking. We don't hear from him at all unless we initiate contact, and even then our texts go ignored for days, and sometimes weeks. He gives us more excuses with every passing inquiry, always pointing his finger at the BernCo inspectors and never taking any responsibility for his unprofessional (and ultimately, downright sh!tty) project management. I spoke directly with the inspector last week and found out that our project just sits there with no motion from Mark's end for months at a time. There's a trail of date stamped paperwork and communication detailing and confirming this timeline. I could continue to share a whole host of other pressing complaints, but I will close with one last example of Photon Rainbow's bad business ethics. After we secured the solar loan, based on what we were led to believe were secured BernCo permits and estimates for the work associated with those permits, Mark came back to us (after he'd been paid in full and we were making both the solar loan and PNM payments, with no working solar service) saying we were going to have to pay an additional $6,000-8,000 out of pocket for corrections, in order to secure the permits. Their submitted plans did not actually pass inspection, and due to his laissez faire communication and follow up, he didn't catch it until after the loan was wrapped up and rolling. He did offer to split the cost with us, acting like this was some sort of favor, despite the contract spelling out that securing the contract was his responsibility. I hope he only has to learn this business lesson once, for the sake of others who may follow us. Y'ALL. He even had the nerve to pressure us for a five star review, and the work still hasn't been completed. You can't make this garbage up! The bottom line of our experience is that Mark doesn't deliver on his promises, and he also doesn't appear to be on top of local regs and requirements. Per the BernCo inspector, he could have requested a trench inspection to close it up months ago. Mark is untrustworthy and is tarnishing the reputation Photon Rainbow previously built. Who knows how many of these reviews were written before the work was even competed? At this point we are doubtful our project will be finished. If/when it is, we are quickly losing faith that the system will actually work, or that we will have any support should it need repair in the future. If Mark's project management is any reflection on the quality and fidelity of the solar installation, we're f@cked. We just heard of others with similar horror tales about Mark. He needs to prioritize completing current projects over hustling new ones. YMMV, but buyer beware.

They were happy to take our money but couldn't seem to communicate much with us after that. That company went out of business last Spring. That said, we chose Photon Rainbow, a new company, to get it right this time solely on the strength of a personal reference from another happy customer. From the outset, our salesperson/project manager Kelly S listened to our past experience, and was clear, upfront, and very interested in communicating well. She answered all our texts promptly, even after the project was finished. This was also because this business has a knowledgable back office that took care of permitting, engineering, an electrical sub (we needed a new electrical panel), installation, and problem-solving our app that monitors everything. I suspect we were somewhat challenging customers because my exacting, design-engineer husband wanted a revision of the initial plan and expected to be on the roof to take photos documenting the installation. They accommodated him with enthusiasm and grace probably because he had good rationale for the changes and they wanted to be certain we were pleased with both the process and the outcome. We waited this long to write a review because we wanted to make sure we were as happy 9 months later as we were when PNM flipped the solar switch. He found that we needed a new part, ordered it, and said he'd come back in a week to install it. True to his word, Brandon came this morning, installed the part, and made sure we were up and online. The installers were on time and professional and cleaned up after they were done. They were happy to work around my schedule some to accommodate different stages of the project. They are a great local company for Solar and for what I was looking for, a certified Tesla Installer. If we ever change or add to the system they will be my first call.

I knew going solar was more complicated than it needs to be. I feel like this presentation really clarified all I need to get solar and advocate for solar. Kurt informed us that "leasing" or allowing a "lean" against our mortgage is more harmful than helpful. Also, that the "very nice guys" who come to my house really are not from New Mexico, rather they are selling my desire for solar to a 3rd party and can cause issues in the future if there are problems. Federal (26%) and State (10%) tax credits. $25-$30k total. 40-60 days from start to finish (due to city of Albuquerque contracts). 36% tax credit. Indebted to the financing of solar for however many years you finance verse to PNM (or whomever) for the rest of your life. Increase the value of your home. Save Mother Earth. A company with ethics that is local. This feels like a win/win. Send them a copy of your PNM bill, see if it's right for you. I then was able to make payments that way. I sold my house and it turns out Luckys didn't hire an attorney it was an employee that they said was an attorney. So the money i paid the attorney went to an employee that didnt even work for them. Then Luckys was paid again to pay off the lien on the house. Which means i was out $18,000. So they lied about the attorney and some employee got what was owed and Luckys got paid when i sold my house. So no i would not recommend Luckys.

These will be the guys I call the next time I need a roof repair.
