To my utmost disappointment, Constant Contact did not comply with the commitments that they had given me or my team. They continuiously manipulated us to believing that our results were more substantial than what they actually were. The representative that was assisting us with templates was persistent to dismiss our wants and our abilities to create templates that we thought would function best for our company. Constant Contact's customer service is lacking to say the least. In working with a small non-profit, I was told that our subscription was cancelled without further charges, and that my contact list would be stored for three months while I tested out MailChimp. The non-profit account was then auto-billed for a larger monthly payment. When asked to reverse the fee, Constant Contact replied that it did not follow their protocols. MailChimp is a better service and offers cheaper rates to non-profits. Save yourself a headache and choose a different email marketing platform. read more

I had never HEARD of Constant Contact until I found myself buried in spam from companies with which I had never had contact, had never done business, and have no reason to ever DO business. I began by blacklisting each address as the spam arrived, but it was so incessant, and every spam had a Constant Contact email address, I finally had to block the entire Constant Contact domain. I fail to see how this can be legal. Spam is supposed to be illegal. How can calling it "email marketing" and burying someone in it make it legal? This company is an absolute joke. Ironically enough, they do constantly contact you once you sign up for the free trial. The sales rep, Dan Allen, emailed me immediately and called me almost daily. I finally took his call and was not pleased with the way that he spoke to me. I tried to brush him off, since I generally do not like doing business with companies who constantly badger me and he kept pushing and pushing for a meeting. I shot for next Tuesday, only for him to tell me that "JULY FOURTH IS THE BIGGEST EMAIL MARKETING DAY OF THE YEAR DO YOU KNOW HOW BUSY I AM, CANT TAKE ANY CALLS ALL WEEK!!!" uhh. This guy straight up called me almost every day for a week. OK? But now you're too busy to schedule a call next week? If you ask me - they are a scam. I paid on behalf of a non-profit to help kids. I paid for 9 months (over $200). After 2.5 months, my ability to send out emails stopped. I tried for weeks to get emails out, not knowing what the problem was. They emailed me saying that, "my free trial period was almost up," and I should pay to continue use. I was supposedly assigned a help person. When I reached out to him - he said he was on vacation and he was having someone, "look into it." For example I send to businesses that may be @businessname.com. Because they cannot confirm that it was received like you can with a @gmail they are flagged and your account is put on hold. I signed up for free to learn more about Constant Contact, but ended up not using them because of the cost and lack of variable services. I have received two very unprofessional sales calls from their reps "assigned" to my account. They act more like low-paid spammers than account representatives. Despite me politely telling them I am not interested and even answering why, they will not stop asking me detailed questions and telling me how I should use their service. The first salesman continued to talk for almost twenty minutes despite me telling him I wasn't interested so I finally hung up. He called back and left a voicemail! Even their service was horrible and then signed up with stickysend.com, they are a small new company but with great features and their prices are way low. Unscrupulous, stay away! They billed me even though I canceled the subscription a full one month before the end of the "FREE" trial period. I gave up on recovering my money as they proceeded to send me through a gauntlet of phone IVRs. Do not trust them with your credit card, or any other financial, information! I work at a state university, we used to be able to pay with a request for check but that changed. I can only do business with them through a purchase order. To say the least, Constant Contact is clueless about how some businesses have to operate. It was like pulling teeth to get a "quote," which some genius at CC also included a past due amount - making it an invoice. I got the PO finally, I know it was sent to them - twice, but they couldn't be bothered to read it OR submit the invoice. I had to ASK for an invoice with the adjusted amount for the past due $$. The invoice was generated without the past due $$... (insert headache here), with the explanation that it will just be adjusted back to February (we are in March now). And, even though the PO is a legal agreement that guarantees they get paid, they have locked our account - and I know I am going to lose at least a full month of service. Less than happy with their customer service is a major understatement. They seem to prefer to never have human interactions. Maybe MailChimp will be better. read more

The service people are very dishonest. At first, the person I spoke with said I could do everything I wanted with a free trial, this turned out to not be true after signing up and I had to purchase a monthly membership with the salesperson saying that I could do everything for a basic membership. Upon signing up for the basic membership I found out that I had to over double my subscription to do what I wanted. Plus, all of the back and forth took a lot of time and their technology did't work and there were additional hidden fees. read more

Don't Do IT! We chose them for the extensive knowledge on subscribes and unsubscribes. When we followed their best practices they red flagged us and said there were problems with our email list. The so called customer service bullied us. There was nothing we could say or do to get them to release our list. They could not tell us what the "problems" might be. We followed their instructions and they still would not release our list. We pointed to their web pages and guides that we had read and still they told us we were in the wrong. Stay away at all costs. Deceptive service. Sends all of your emails to Gmail accounts to the "promotions" folder, not the actual inbox. Then, even after you have spent hours uploading emails only to find out it doesn't work, it then sends you "surveys" suggesting that you are still a customer. You have to call back and wait on hold for over 30 minutes to find out that you were, in fact, unsubscribed. AVOID!!!! read more

I wanted to try out an email marketing service so I looked it up online. Apparently Constant Contact is "one of the best email marketing services" out there. Thus I signed up for an account to see how it goes. They called me the same day, using my area code so I would pick up the phone. When I didn't pick up, Eric sent me an email immediately asking if I have time to talk. There is no unsubscribe button in the email. When I tried to delete my phone number on the website so they would stop calling me, it wouldn't let me delete. This is a waste of time as they try to milk every last penny out of you. Fortunately I did not pay, blocked all their emails and phone numbers. You also cannot cancel your account online and have to call them. Obviously they do not want you to cancel without convincing you to stay and keep paying them. I don't know why many websites recommend these shady people. Stay away!!! read more

My experience with Constant Contact has been mostly pleasant as their service is one of cheaper email marketing firms out there. We have written a few new accounts from our monthly newsletters and they never seem to take issue with with higher bounce back rates from our prospect and client lists. My only complaint has been additional services that keep being added to my account without my consent, and as a result it caused some smaller issues with our accounting Dept. Overall somewhat pleased with their services. Would most likely recomend to others. read more

Constant Contact has been charging my credit card without my permission and without my authorization for nearly two years. When I phoned to discuss this matter with an agent, I was told it was my fault because I did not call them to cancel. I told the agent I did not call to cancel because I never signed up in the first place. I was on an old plan which I never cancelled, which did not have a monthly fee. Constant Contact just decided on their own without my knowledge or consent to change my plan and start charging my company $62.50 per month. I am very concerned that a company that represents itself as having a service to assist small businesses would engage in these types of practices. My experience with Constant Contact has me asking what exactly does their name mean? In my case, it meant constantly contacting my bank for monthly payments that I cancelled more than once. Regardless of the fact that I cancelled their service, they continued to bill my bank, constantly, and for longer than I care to admit. I own a small business which is why I use constant contact. Problem is that I work on my email blasts at night and on weekends. When I first joined constant contact it wasn't a problem. And their staff was EXCELLENT. Now however they don't have staff on the weekends or after 9 pm. Which is really not alot of help for me at all. We used their company for many years. And then switched to a company that had an API that integrated with our CRM and website. We called to cancel the account and they never cancelled it. Our company was charged over $2000 for a year for an account that wasn't used. The REFUSE to give us any more back because CONVENIENTLY they have no record of our cancellation. And then I tried to contact the company, I had to CALL to cancel the account and then they refused to give me ANY money back. And just recited their "policies" to me in an email. Then I tried a Better Business Bureau complaint, they still refuse to give me any money back...again stating their "policies". And now the BBB has closed the complaint and I have no other recourse. So buyer beware, Constant Contact will take your money and then not even offer ANY type of money back after the account was requested to be closed. Don't use them.. read more

Constant Contact used to be my preferred method of sending out newsletters and invitations. Today, I no longer WANT to EVER use this company again! They have extreme limitations on their platform...ie. Landing page is customizable but a registration page is not! There is no way to tinker and toy with items such as the built-in map...it's way too small and you can't zoom in so folks can potentially see where the event is. A location in San Francisco, for example, shows the entire city, and mind you, SF is only 7 miles x 7 miles...aka. not big! The last straw is that you're unable to submit an EPS or vector based image. If you want to include an image then it can't be more than 800 pixels....talk about crap!! That means any single image you add can't be read if it's a logo. Sadly, we will no longer be using this platform again...here we come Mailchimp, Eventbrite, etc... read more

The trail period is a gimmick. The associate will ask to pay whenever he/she has a chance. Then you will lose your so called trail period and you have to pay everything. You will NOT refund or give your credit. They figure that since you have already put in time that you will not start another trail period and start paying much earlier. Be careful!
