I will give credit where credit is due his team did a nice job on my siding and roof replacement but after spending tens of thousands of dollars and signing a contract to remodel my kitchen, put in new staircases and hardwood floors throughout my house (that's where I went wrong and the stress began) he offered to redo the roof on my small shed for $450. $450 for something that would have taken 30 mins to do. Really? His team was there, he had the extra material and all the business we contracted him to do he couldn't afford one concession? As we move into the interior remodel things get progressively worse. I could write a book about all the wrong doings but here are some excerpts of the most unbelievable occurrences: Note: you will notice that all communication with Mark was via text as he was never onsite and believe it or not he never even came to see the finished job. The texts are another story, I can't believe that a service provider would say the nastiest, obnoxious thing in writing. I have a huge file - you never know when you may need evidence 1) We agreed on a price to replace my existing flooring in 5 rooms and replace with hardwood floors. Which to me means rip up existing flooring, level and prep floor and lay new flooring. Well it didn't mean that same thing to him. He charged me more $ to remove the existing hardwood floor before lay the new floor (which I paid) and then wanted to charge me more $ to level the floor after he removed the ceramic tiles (which after an unprofessional, nasty ping pong of texts I refused to pay) 2). I wanted my pendant lights centered over my island which the carpenter sketched out on the sub flooring. Well the electrician he contracted missed the mark by 4 1/2" lengthwise and width wise. When I texted him about it he questioned my credibility and said "weren't you there when he was doing the work? ". I guess he thought I should be the acting contractor and pay him for my services. And he demonstrated annoyance about having to fix the problem now that the ceiling was already installed. He viewed this as being my fault. 3. After the hardwood floors and cabinets were installed he installed the kick heater under the kitchen sink cabinet instead of having a plumber do it (cutting corners). Well it sprung a leak that went unnoticed for 2 day; warping the floor. As a result everything had to be deinstalled, new floor ordered and installed - delaying completion a week. 4. Per our contract he was to buy the paint and paint the new kitchen. Since the adjoining room needed to be painted he offered to paint them as well. His painter suddenly become ill so instead of hiring another painter by trade he had a non-trade person paint - he didn't sparkle any hole and when I questioned it he had to text Mark before patching the holes. Mark told him to take pics of the hole because he was only responsible for the new walks he installed so if the hole were in the adjoining rooms he was not going to fix them. What?? If you offer to do a job should you do it properly - I don't think that's unreasonable. Well the guy did it anyway but it was an unnecessary argument. Also I should add the guy showed up with 1 can of ceiling paint - no drop clothes or paint brushes. I had to buy the paint and provide the tools. As per our contract Mark was supposed to install my new staircases, finish the treads and banisters and sparkle/paint the risers (which he charged me extra for). He installed the staircases, and hired someone to finish the treads but didn't sparkle and paint the riser - I had to do it myself and certainly didn't get a refund. When the guy who finished the stair treads he scratched the newly installed wrought iron balusters. When I texted Mark about it he responded with "give me a break with your scratches". In the end 7 balusters has to be replaced and he had to pay.

They installed all new aluminum drip edge and ice and water shield and felt buster synthetic paper for that extra protection that brings comfort and security. The guys showed up early in morning and worked hard all day at a steady pace to have the job completed before nightfall. The guys were very respectful and did an amazing job with the roof and the cleanup. The boss Mark was very pleasant and knowledgeable with response to our questions and concerns. Unreliable scheduling and poor communication…read more I signed a contract with Gikas Roofing for a skylight replacement and paid a $4,000 deposit. Over the course of a month, they postponed the project three separate times. For the first two delays, they only gave me one day's notice. For the third postponement, they gave me only one hour's notice, and that was only because I reached out to them first to ask for an update (they falsely promised me they would give me updates); they did not contact me. Due to heavy rains over this period, I experienced further leaks of the skylight. After these repeated delays and several ignored inquiries about the timeline, I sent a formal contract rescission citing Breach of Contract (false promises and "reasonable time" violations) and that I would take them to court if they delayed the return of my money. In their response they claimed in writing, "To clarify the record: Gikas Roofing did not breach the agreement or make false statements." I have the full documentation, phone records, and email chain proving otherwise, documentation that I was ready to submit in court. Indeed, their claim itself is a false statement. They refunded my money, but they wasted a month of my time, forced significant scheduling problems for me, and left me scrambling to find a reliable contractor. I still have a leak.
