Bride and bridesmaids dresses by Consuelo Celemin Couture
    Ryan T.

This woman is amazing!!!! My wedding dress got so many compliments!!! She did an excellent job! My bridesmaids were also very happy about their dresses, for sure they will wear their dresses in another occasion. Thank so much Consuelo for creating the perfect, most amazing dress I could have ever dreamed off. God bless your hands and talent!

This was my final fitting with Consuelo Celemin - Super snug, very elegant, and she took lots of care with the pattern, pleats and beading.

I'm beyond happy and so blessed to have found Consuelo Celemin on Yelp!!! As a bride who found her wedding dress (last of it's kind @ David's Bridal!) on Halloween weekend with a wedding on Valentine's Day weekend, I was in quick need of a kind, patient, understanding and crafty seamstress who had experience working with specialty fabrics and wedding dresses and limited time for fittings and fixing. After visiting two other seamstresses with my heavy dress and huge underskirt, she was extremely sweet and very welcoming. She helped me slip into the entire outfit, gave me very great and honest feedback as to how she would tailor the dress to my figure and emphasize the parts of the dress I adored (the pleats! the train! and insanely epic bustling!). After already getting other quotes, I was in pins and needles as to her quote, but she was extremely reasonable, fair, and didn't put added pressure or charge extra because she'd be working on my dress in 2 months. I believe she's very talented, experienced, and she added extra comfort by saying that it wasn't necessary to have so many fittings prior to the wedding. She took my measurements, we set 2 added fittings before I finally took my dress with me the week of my wedding. She ALSO offered great ideas to improve my underskirt to give my dress it's full impressive shape for the ceremony, and even how to bustle the underskirt with the train/dress so that everything still had a full shape for the party. She was also extremely careful with all the intricate beading and pleats my dress came with, and was able to magically trim off almost 5 inches from my waist without disfiguring the pattern on the corset or the skirt. I cannot express how thoughtful, professional and reasonably priced Consuelo was... and the excellent care she took with my dress! I imagine she does the same with everyone's gowns, and it's truly, remarkably appreciated. Of all my wedding vendors, Consuelo was my favorite to work with and the absolute best! For any and all future important dress alterations, I'd go to her first!

The owner, Emilio Uribe, is a fabulous modern-day renaissance man, collecting (and creating) tons of interesting clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags, other accessories and artwork from both vintage and up-and-coming designers/artists. One never knows what to expect when coming back to Haus Fashion Lab.. The owner makes absolutely sure that the store, just as the customer's experience, is continuously evolving. Every time I go back the store seems to have re-invented itself with a new layout or new line of clothing/accessories or newly-acquired vintage items. HFL is fully committed to detail and to providing customers with a vast array of interesting, beautiful objects and personalized service. On one occasion, I witnessed the owner styling (and doing make-up for) a celebrity for a red-carpet event while agreeing to make custom pants for another customer's 12 year old daughter (to match her mother's) while coordinating a fashion shoot going on across the street at Wynwood Walls.... and he still had the time to make each and every customer feel welcomed as he/she walked through the door! I cannot say enough great things about HFL. There is something for everyone... whether you are male/female, young/mature... and whether you can afford to spend $30 or $3000. It is the absolutely perfect place to buy a unique gift for that person that has everything (while picking up a few fierce pieces for yourself!).

Additionally, the offerings here are looking more "vintage" than "retro." And yes, there's a difference - think about it. And yes, the men's selection is better - but I can't see myself rushing back here either. The decor could use some improvement as well. This looks more like a long rack on the wall.

However, I think this shop epitomizes what isn't working. Yes, the clothes are high end and expensive but I saw few if any pieces that made my heart jump, skip, or hop. There was no Marni mouth dropping moment. There is no love at first sight shoe from Louboutin. There isn't even that odd mix of inspiration and infatuation from Tomas Maier. I found the men's collection to be a bit better with an Etro shirt in a colorful of the moment plaid but overall the store lacked strong pieces or even amazingly feminine staples. Even more telling is the odd, mismatched feel of the store. The aesthetic is worn and dated. Feng Shui anyone? anyone? Speaking of odd the door was locked when I pulled on the handle, in the middle of the day. Suddenly, I felt oh so safe ;-) Again, I want to see more stores, a well curated cocktail of boutiques ranging from hip vintage boutiques brimming with treasures to high end international names, and local up and comers.

Arguably THE lifestyle boutique in Miami BASE, is a perfectly curated masterpiece. The minute you step in you know a lot of thought and love went into this shop. From designer clothes to a CD bar BASE has something you're bound to fall in love with. And you'll note that BASE supports the arts from having their own label and a band The Life Project, to holding exhibits during Art Basel. The idea of bringing art into everyday life is obvious especially in the selection of graphic tees and kitschy, colorful toys. They also have a great selection of books some focusing on local art and architecture.
