Not once did we feel uneasy (and we live in the Houston area - did a staycation for my husband's birthday). A few years ago, it would be a different story. There are a few homeless in the general area, but they aren't disruptive. We stayed in room 705, complete with a city view. It was quiet and lovely. I wish the rooms had a full-size fridge and cooking area, but for downtown, the suites are just as big as a studio apartment. There's space-themed decor throughout the hotel. I found the valet pricing to be a bit steep, and unfortunately, I have reason to believe two pairs of sunglasses were stolen from my vehicle. (I realize they should have been put in my purse immediately after use, but it slipped my mind, and out of habit, I put them in the console.) Regardless, it's frustrating. It also took 10-15 minutes for valet to pull our car around, so that's something to keep in mind. The evening reception was nice, especially with the two drinks/person/night. We had chips and queso, though they had a few other offerings. Make sure you get the card at the front desk. The front desk staff will also try to sell you on destinations for a cheap rate. I'm not sure when this became a thing, but instead of telling us about the evening reception and breakfast, they tried selling us on a stay in Chicago. I really just wanted to go to our room since I did everything on the app. We also found the breakfast to be worth every penny to stay in this hotel. I can't have gluten, and there isn't any GF bread. I had eggs, potatoes, grits, and coffee. There were cereal, fruit, yogurt, and waffle-making options as well. I appreciated the coffee bar having various syrups. The hotel was extremely accessible for those with disabilities/handicaps. We saw several people in wheelchairs or with assistance. Hearsay on the Green is inside the hotel, and the food is priced well for what you get (and it's excellent). If you DoorDash, the Dasher has to leave your food/items at the front desk. They are not permitted to go up to guest rooms. The rooftop pool and hot tub offer views of the city and Toyota Center (excellent people watching). Overall, I'd stay again (but I'd ensure I brought my cheap sunglasses and not my Maui Jims).

They provide a free breakfast buffet with a omlett bar. Food is always hot and fresh, they have staff manning it and serving it on ur plate to expedite the line amd for sanitation reasons. Plus the regular assortment of bread, muffins, bagels, yogurt, fruit & etc. The oatmeal was very good. We also utilized the meeting space for a large day & half meeting, as well as a luncheon party. Both were set up and executed very well. All of the staff was phenomenal. These are the ones I was able to get their names before I left. All of them went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed. I am a US citizen and lives in Texas. My daughter lives in the Philippines and waiting to emigrate to join us. I have her passport and birth certificate proving I am his father. The interviewer asked me for a Power of Attorney?!?. So I asked what's the power of Attorney for? He went away from the interview window and grabbed a Power of Attorney form and answered me that since my daughter is already 8 years old and not 6 years old, she now needs to consent to me bringing her to Japan. They are asking me to have my daughter who is a minor to sign a legal document. I asked for the Supervisor, and sure enough, he stood by what the first interviewer asked me - A Power of Attorney signed by my 8-year old daughter consenting. Does this mean in Japan, parents need to furnish a Power of Attorney signed by their minor children as a proof of their consent that they are traveling with their parents. The interviewer and the supervisor of this consulate should be both FIRED!

Receptionist reviewed my forms then said copy of passport was needed! Lesson learned: have extra copy of passport or documents just in case. Returned on a Friday 2:30pm. Surprisingly no line, receptionist promptly waved me to come in. Reviewed my forms then offered to process visa exemption while I wait outside. I took the offer, went back outside to waiting room. 20 minutes later, heard my name called to go back in and take the passport with the 5 year exemption sticker. Lesson learned: come in early right after 2pm and perhaps go on a Friday for potential short line.

The security guard could be nicer, but he's doing his job. The first time I arrived on a Thursday at 11 am, and the waiting room was full. The security guard told me it was closed. Okay then... I come back later that afternoon at 2 pm, and it was only me and another person. I brought the 'Application Form for Issuance/ Reissuance of a Visa Exemption Certificate' completed by hand. Turns out, you need to fill it out online and print it out. A barcode should appear at the top right corner when it is processed. Please do NOT fill it out by hand! Use the link on #3 to access the document (photo attached). You will also need to bring a photocopy of your passport, expired visa exemption, and expired passport if the old visa is associated with it. It should only cost $10 if you can wait 10 days to pick it up. To add insult to injury, it costs to park in the garage for over 20 minutes. I come back the next day, Friday at 2 pm. Lots more people this time. No phones allowed so you have to sit and stare at the wall. It takes me about 1 hour to get to the desk. Smooth and quick process since I had everything required.

He did receive the identifier, which I understand functions as the username, but his credentials were never validated and he was never issued a password. Because of that, the system blocks him from logging in and scheduling the required in person appointment, even though the identifier itself is correct. He has been calling and emailing since October 12 and has only received automated replies, so he feels stuck at the credentials validation stage with no clear next step. Has anyone experienced this with Houston or found a way to get credentials validated or unlocked? Any advice or contacts would be really appreciated. Thank you.
