The staff are very nice but the hotel is directly off of the highway. It was extremely loud and I had to change rooms. The hotel provides free ear plugs and now I know why. Did not get much sleep. Look, I don't like writing negative reviews. But the service and attitude of the front staff at this hotel could be greatly improved. We arrived late yesterday afternoon. The checkin tooK FOREVER. It had been a LONG travel day and the guy at the front desk was driving everyone crazy. This is NOT and is by no way near to being a FULL SERVICE Marriott. More like BARE MINIMAL. Had I known that, I would have booked elsewhere. The room was fine and the air-conditioning was good, but NO BAR. NO RESTAURANT. Hell, they have what looks to be a full-service coffee bar, but in the morning we were informed that there is only drip. It took at over 7 minutes to find someone to give me cup of the magic elixir, but only after they took my room number so they could charge me. Okay, back to the check in. The guy INSISTED on me giving him my cell phone number. I refused. He said, and I kid you not, "Well what if there's an emergency, how are we going to contact you?" First, my Marriott profile has my contact info. Second, is there not a PA system in the hotel? Are there not phones in the rooms? Are there not Fire Alarms and other things to reach me if there is an emergency. The dude creeped me out. Oh, and the carpet. See the pic. So when getting off the elevators, this is what you see. I am super disappointed in the old, dated look of this Marriott. It looks like they took a lower budget hotel and changed it to a Marriott. The carpet is horrible in the hallways. My suite had one phone in the front room. I asked for a phone in the bedroom and the guy at the front desk told me it probably didn't have a phone line if there was no phone next to the bed. I told him I found that highly doubtful so he sent a technician up to move the phone from the front room to the back bedroom. What kind of sense does that make? The technician quickly identified a phone jack but had to go and search for a phone. There's customarily always a phone next to the bed. And the exterior walls are so thin that you can hear all of the highway traffic, in addition to noises in the hall. For a hotel that only gives a small gift bag to ambassador memberss, not titanium, I would expect much higher standards from them. My upgraded suite had no robe, no cheap slippers, or any added amenities outside of the standard ones in all of the other rooms. Even the towels old and worn, as well as the couch in my room that looked like it came from the 50s. Aside from the clueless guy at the front desk in the afternoon, I gave 2 stars for the two friendly ladies that were there before the afternoon shift came on. read more

The lady Cora who works here is extremely rude. Her attitude is dismissive and passive aggressive. Don't worry about telling the manager either because Cora will tell you it's a waste of your time. His name is Mario Cuevas and she is right, he does not care. Whatever Cora says goes. I talked to someone at another Marriot location in the area and they said this place has a reputation for treating a certain demographic of people very poorly. If you go there and your ethnicity doesn't match the staff and they treat you like trash ... don't be surprised, they don't see you as human but they will take your money. I called the Marriot corporate number and the people who answered were so nice. They said these hotels are franchised and they don't have control over the people who work there. I don't want to assume they did this due to personal bias so I've created a space for people to share if they have been treated unfairly due to your race, handicap, gender or sexuality. It's a 40 minute UBER ride from the airport. It's like semi finals or something so it was $80 to get to the hotel and $40 on the way back to the airport. My room was on the 4th floor, which was clean and comfortable. I liked the pillows and comfy bed, but the sheets and pillow case smelled like bleach. Nice water pressure in the shower. I would stay here again. Only downside is that the shuttle runs 3 mile radius and all the decent food establishments are like 6+ miles away. read more

Came to Houston for my grandmother's funeral. They fell all over themselves to not only accomodate my family, but also host a large dinner for us. They made everything easy and our stay was comfortable. Then on the last day of our stay, my grandfather fell ill and had to go to the hospital. General Manager David Brown took a personal interest in our situation. He put together a basket of baked good to send to my mother while she stayed with my grandfather. He accomodated her for an extra night and helped the rest of my family finish our trip. We truly could not have done it without the help of David and the entire staff of the Energy Center Corridor Marriott. read more

Our group had a fantastic experience at this hotel. Our group reservations manager, Vanessa, was outstanding in taking great care of us. She provided personal attention, great planning, and thorough communication and really bent over backward to accommodate our needs. I can't believe the level of service we got for the reasonable rates we paid. Everyone on the staff treated us like we were special. Even though our group included 48 teenagers, the staff all gave them the benefit of the doubt and treated them like responsible young adults. As a result, the kids appreciated that respect and reciprocated it to the staff as well as other hotel guests. I think this hotel is probably a little older, but it is well-maintained and clean. The room was spacious and the bed was very, very comfortable. I look forward to working with Vanessa and the Marriott staff again. read more

This is the second time that I stayed at this property. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. My room was ready and quite comfortable. Plenty of outlets for my electronic devices too. There is a pool on site and a fitness center. The M Club was great. As someone traveling alone on business I like to get out of my room and the hospitality and food/beverage choices in the club are perfect. Happy hour food choices were perfect for a light dinner and breakfast choices the next day were tasty and satisfying. Next time I am in the area I know exactly where I am staying. read more

This is one of my favorite hotels in the area. The hotel color scheme is bright, which is a nice change from other hotels. The rooms are very clean and the beds are medium firmness. They are not Westin heavenly beds, but not that far behind in terms of overall comfort. Staff is extremely nice and helpful. Ramon from the front desk is awesome. Platinum members have access to a decent lounge and I've gotten upgrades to suites more than any other hotel. I use the free shuttle service about once a week with no issues. Jerry, the shuttle bus driver is very friendly. One time, while the shuttle was delayed due to rainy weather, the hotel manager gave me a ride in her personal car. If this isn't great service, I don't know what is. The bar area, while small, is lively and fun. The gym is on the first floor, adjacent to the pool. It has about four treadmills and same number of elliptical machines. The cardio machines all have built in televisions and are heart rate monitor compatible. Free weights and some tubes are available also. The food is decent. The Big Texas Chicken Breast is my favorite. Some complaints from my colleagues that have stayed here -- The light from the entry door is too bright at night. That never bothered me though. Overall great value for the price. read more

Friendly front desk staff. Pretty hotel! Arrived around 8 pm. We stayed on the concierge 9th floor. Our room was near the elevator~no noise. I requested a roll away ,which was placed in our room before we entered-nice. The room was nice & clean~seemed new! Large floor to ceiling window with view of city. No microwave in the room, but we had a frig. Outdoor area -pool, hot tub & fire pit sitting area with out door bar. (Outdoor bar has certain hours). Workout room was larger than most hotels. Room service was available. Restaurant served breakfast ,lunch & dinner. Starbucks also & bar inside. Great price on the weekend. Business has brought me to Houston and the 'Energy Corridor' often for many years. I have stayed at several of the area hotels but have until now not experienced this Marriott. But some favorable reviews here prompted me to give it a try. I have had some very positive experiences recently at Marriotts, from Seattle to Palm Beach so I was hopeful. But this location was not up to those standards. And compared to other hotels in the corridor (Omni, Sorella) with equivalent price points, it is noticeably deficient. The guest rooms and furnishing lacked a level of opulence seen at other Marriots and area competitors. Breakfast choices are limited to a modest buffet. This is not to say my experience was bad. The staff was extreme friendly and helpful. The bacon in the breakfast buffet was remarkably good for a buffet. And everything was clean and well-maintained. It was just not up to the level one would expect. read more

The staff was very friendly. Check in was quick amd easy. Room was very nice and clean. We had the breakfast included in oupr rates for Saturday and Sundays from 7am- 11am. Breakfast buffet was pretty good with variety. The only suggestion I have is that a few things need to be update such as the televisions and maybe the carpet. I arrived at the Marriott a few months ago having explained to the woman on the phone that it was my girlfriend's birthday that evening and that I'd like to treat her. She upgraded my room which was fantastic, however upon my arrival they took my money for the upgraded room but put me in a regular room. In my rush I'll be honest, I didn't even realise until later when I went to check out the balcony ...my girlfriend had since arrived and not wanting to put a dampener on the evening I let it fly and decided I'd address it later. When I called the front desk the next day (staying several nights in total) they informed me that the suites were all full. I expressed my disappointment and explained the situation in full. They said the best they could do was refund the difference. On checking out I had to explain the situation all over again as this had been neglected on my final bill. A manager came out and said thanks for staying. Not interested in explaining myself all over again, as appeared to be the feelings of the gentleman serving me I simply left knowing I'd never have to come back. read more

Before recently, I knew nothing about nicer hotels. Back in my traveling days with friends and peers we'd all chip in on a room and book whatever cheap hotel we could afford because to me a room is a room is a room. Well, this was the first premium hotel I've ever stayed at and I was completely impressed with how nice the room was. The bed was gigantic and soft, clean carpet, great view of I-10 and just a good warm welcoming feel. I hadn't had such good sleep away from my home in such a long time, but come to think of it this place felt better than home. I am glad Marriott made my stay a special one. I remember it well because it was raining very hard that day, and just relaxing there with sounds of cars swishing through the water was almost like lullaby music. The check in process was super easy and they even let me check in early..that was very nice and generous of them to do so. I hope to one day come back and stay here again. The price is leaning more towards the higher side but you definitely get what you pay for and I was very impressed with the end result here. I think we used Hotels.com or priceline. Later I started using Hotwire, which(let's face it) is worse than playing Russian Roulette! But until then, I'll always remember the great experience and pleasant stay here at Marriott Houston Energy Corridor! read more

Everything we needed he was on top, froM needing a cart brought to our room for luggage or someone showing us how to use the remote. Made a last-minute business trip to Houston last week. Chose the Marriott Energy Corridor through Hotwire on account of a convenient location and agreeable price. Realized I'd get what I had paid for almost as soon as I walked in, noting that the lobby was practically chock full of signs about all the services they wouldn't be providing and all the reasons they'd charge extra for this or that courtesy. Room was too warm for Houston in July and bed similarly uncomfortable. But the service--or lack thereof--really set this place apart, and not in a good way. For uninteresting reasons, I extended my reservation by a day. Told the woman at the front desk that I'd done so the day before, so was surprised to receive a call from the front desk the afternoon before my newly scheduled departure that I'd missed the 11:00 AM checkout. Patiently explained that I'd extended my reservation for another day, and we agreed that I'd stop by the front desk again at some point that day to present (for the second time) my credit card for incidentals. Shortly thereafter, someone starts pounding on my door like a lunatic; I was about to hop into the shower, so I cracked open the door ever so slightly. The general manager--Mario Cuevas--demanded to know whether I had a reservation. When I explained (again) that I'd extended said reservation another day, he insisted that I'd need to come downstairs immediately because I'd created "a discrepancy" in his system. I pointed out that I wasn't dressed, and he told me that I'd be charged for an extra day if I didn't comply. Exceptionally rude; probably the worst "customer service" I've ever experienced from management of an ostensibly reputable hotel. Suffice it to say that I will not be staying here again. read more

This place is terrible!!! It's under construction. We were woken up to the sounds of drills and hammers on the other side of the wall our headboard was on. Also, watch your room receipt if you put bar drinks on your room. We were charged more in drinks we didn't order than we were for the room. Made last minute reservations tonight for 8 rooms for our Cheer team because of icy roads west of Houston, despite a one hour notice of 8 cheers moms, coaches and hyperactive girls, Michael at the front desk managed to accommodate everyone's needs very professionally and had a great sense of humor. This is one of my favorite Marriott properties! The rooms are spacious and I love the large balconies. The gym is clean and well stocked. The concierge lounge has wonderful, healthy food options. Hotel staff were kind and parking is free. The beds were uncomfortable and pillows were flat. We did not sleep very well and carpet was not very clean. We got a pretty good rate, so we can't complain too much. You get what you pay for. read more

After 3 years of Platinum membership with Marriott, this location has made me seriously consider switching my brand. If I can keep just one guest from staying at this hotel I will feel like I have done my due diligence. Management is non-existent, customer service is negligent, and the employees are rude and self-important. To top it off, they are far too cavalier with the spending of your money by charging and double charging in a reckless and almost deceitful manner. It all started before arrival, I checked in via the mobile app as I always do, but my card was authorized the night before I arrived, for the total stay as well as incidental deposit. That wouldn't have been a problem, but when I actually arrived I explained I had already been charged, the front desk associate apologized for what had happened at the exact time that she reauthorized my card a second time for the total stay plus incidental deposit. Two authorizations totaling $900 just for a 2 night stay. I called down a few hours later to explain what had happened. The woman apologized for authorizing my card twice and sent a complimentary fruit and cheese platter. That was lovely, the one star was for the platter. The rest of my stay was enjoyable. The gym and pool area were quite nice. Several days later, the authorizations fell off and the charge went through for the total stay. Clean and uneventful. A week later I was double charged for the exact amount. The issues started when I called to correct the wrongdoing on their part. The front desk associate refused to put a manager on the phone but only put me through to the accountant. The accountant insisted that I stayed four nights and that she would have to check with housekeeping to see if I didn't extend my stay. Housekeeping? Where is management? I told her that if she checked my Marriott account she could see that I checked into a Marriott in Atlanta the same days she claimed I stayed. I also have a flight itinerary I was happy to show her. I used to think the customer is always right, but apparently you have to defend yourself these days. I asked her to have someone from management call me. NO call, NO apology. When the accountant finally did her research and found her error, the below note was all I received. Good Afternoon, After our phone conversation today, Wednesday February 17, 2016, I did my research and came to the conclusion you were only at our hotel for two nights. Attached you will find a copy of the folio showing the adjustment for two nights, $159 per night plus taxes. Please allow 3-5 business days for the credit to post. If you have any questions or need additional information please contact me at any time. Thank you, NO APOLOGY, not one sorry, sorry that our mistakes have caused you trouble. Sorry that you must have a lot of spare time to spend on the phone with our entire hotel staff (no management), trying to fix the problems that WE have caused you. I've never felt so unappreciated for staying loyal to a brand in my life. Hyatt, my other Platinum status, would have reimbursed the entire stay and given me some bonus points. I attended a wedding celebration event here. I'm the bride's sister in law so I was able to get a peek behind the scenes. The event coordinators are great, constantly checking to make sure everything is exceptional. There was no problem rearranging the floor and tables when it wasn't as imagined or the best utilization of space. The response was always "yes, however you'd like." Terrible!!!!! My wife and I attended a wedding in Houston and we stayed at the Marriott Energy Corridor. So it begins....... I had gone to park the car and had the room key, I dropped her off at the main entrance. I did not know they locked the doors. The security guard laughed at her while she was in the rain standing outside the door trying to get inside. She obviously didn't have the room key to show him she was staying there. Once I got to the door I showed the card and the door was opened. No apology, no thanks for spending the money we spent. My wife then asked him why he laughed at her instead of opening the door, also told him she was a paying customer like everyone else in the hotel. We asked to speak to the manager instead, he pulls out his phone and starts recording her, which obviously does not help the situation. He told us we would be escorted out. The bartender called a cab for us and that is the most help we received. Terrible experience, we will never be back! read more

Hey I totally stayed here on business trip after I finished my community college education! I was looking on Travelocity and found this nice hotel. Almost felt like a godsend but that is not the case because I simply fell in love with this place. Upon arrival into the lobby I got to say "song ah" (Singlish to describe something that is awesome). True to my word, I felt really at home because the room was big and there was more luxuries than I expect inside and outside my room. I asked for a nice dessert and they brought it to me faster than I can reach a phone. I even got a room with a balcony. I would really want to stay again if I go back to Houston. Plenty of parking for my rental car as well. Never been to TX before this but even my associate from Dallas likes it too. There was even a night that I could not sleep because of personal reasons but once I left the room I quickly went back in because the hotel is perfect for the best sleep. I felt like I warm when I stayed here. Thank you to all of you guys at the hotel for making me a happy business traveler. read more

H.U.E.Y.E. = Help Us Exceed Your Expectation. I worked at the Marriott when I was late HS early college and the HUEYE program was for employees ensuring every guest was being accommodated. They gave us the empowerment to do whatever was needed to make the guests experience positive. The lady at Derek's bar obviously have never heard of this or any other expectations similar like it. It was Saturday evening and the bar area was about 1/4 full when I walked up. I'm here with a soccer team (actually 4 teams) so there were a few members of our group already there waiting. Literally there was no Marriott employee in sight for 5 minutes as more patrons started arriving. You probably see where this is going so I'll cut to the point. The one lady could no way help all these people. But her solution was to ignore till they went away. I personally went up to the desk and gave them heads up the bartender was swamped and needed help. Nobody showed up. The bartender literally told a group of 4 ladies at the bar to go over to a table in the corner and wait and she might be able to help them later. One time unexpected rush? Maybe but the night before I thought it was strange when I ordered dinner at the bar and myself and some random guy sat there by ourselves for long periods of time waiting for someone to help us. My fish and chips took almost 45 min. I know because I ordered at the start of the USMNT game and was served at start of 2nd half. Anyhow, I did give 3 stars because overall the hotel is nice. Rooms were good, front desk staff nice, parking was good. Nice pool area and great biking and running train you can hop on from basically the back door. Gym was really nice to. I was so disappointed in the service as was most others. I've always had my teams stay at Marriott and now need to consider moving over to Hilton- Embassy Suites. Only reason I haven't had them stay is the customer service and I know when we need something they will take care of us. Not so sure anymore and very disappointed. read more

WARNING!!! Dave Brown has a scam going on.. I booked a trip with Amex travel and after I arrived i gave the Credit card that I book with. They had no problem finding my reservations at check in. While checking out the lady was extremely rude and did not leave me with a good feeling. I checked my CC and found that they booked me under another reservation at a higher rate and double charged my CC. I called and talked to Dave Brown the general manager, He was put off that I called and was eating while we were talking. He was rude, now I know where the lady at the front deck gets it, and said he didn't care that I paid though Amex travel. He did not want to correct this problem or look into it so I told him that I was going to file a complaint with corporate Marriott then he wanted my info to look into it. I decided to file a complaint with corporate and let them do the job that Dave Brown should have done. He knows that he is double charging people, so I filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney's office. This business needs an audit. If You Have to stay here make sure that you check your CC statement.
