I was given an appointment at this location after learning that they don't take walk-ins at the S…read moreGessner office or anywhere in Houston from what I remember. I'm not just yelping Leland-Downtown because the receptionist was laidback enough to still take me 10 minutes late (I hate having "a story", but I created one for myself. After hopping off at Bell NB station, I went looking for 1919 Leland Street - which doesn't exist - instead of walking a quick 9 minutes to 1919 Smith, which would've had me there 10-15 minutes early). It seemed as if this receptionist's policy was to be as understanding as possible to everyone. And the laidback-but-professional vibe didn't end there. The office uses room partitions, so you can hear plenty between the taxpayer and IRS employee(s) even though you don't want to. I heard nothing but compassionate pragmatism from the few speaking employees who were interacting the desperate/hopeless taxpayers they served. It seemed as if I were listening to IRS employees with degrees in social work or psychology....advanced degrees, okay? When my number was called, I got Ms. Richardson (employee #1002875500). As suspected, whoever received my digital paperwork earlier this year did the bare minimum instead of putting themselves on the best-practices track that could've saved me a trip to the IRS office. Yes, this needs its own paragraph. #ResponsibleTaxpayer #iToldYouSo #RespectOnMyName I appreciated Ms. Richardson's transparency*. It showed that she's not ride-or-die for anyone who works for the IRS just because she's an employee herself. And that wasn't all. There was another employee from a different cubicle with us at one point during my appointment (her boss maybe? not sure.) who volunteered a needed taxpayer tip for an idependent contractor like me. She didn't have to share anything with me, but she did. So many thanks to whoever that was. And, of course, many more thanks to, Ms. Richardson for undoing what another IRS employee did as well as for Ms. R's empathy re: me getting lost on the way there. Keep keepin' it mellow for everyone, Leland-Downtown Office. Thanks again. *Addendum - Ms. Richardson even verified how many letters the IRS sent me this year after I briefly mentioned the USPS ordeal I've been going through since the summer of 2021, all of which I've yelped for your reading pleasure.

I was there for hours after she told me she needed to ask someone if they can take my proof of identification from the social security office and she told me to hold. I went to her x2 to see if she asked someone yet and nothing, and then finally after i asked for the 3rd time she told me NO, even tho she never got up to ask someone, i was watching her to see if she'll get up and she didn't. so i know she straight up LIED. My day was literally wasted there waiting just for her to tell me no last minute without even verifying if they can take my proof or not. NEVER going to this location AGAIN!! 0 STARS!!!!! ‍

And this service is like ride share app, where they will pick you at the door and drop you off at the door. If you have a wheeler or in wheeler, no problems, you will get you in the vehicle safely and secure you safely. You have to qualify for the service and you have to go through an interview at the main building in downtown. I really appreciation the Metro Lift as it let me be independent on going to places in Houston safely and not relying on family or friends all the time. The downtown main building is also the Downtown Transit Center. You can also buy your Metro Lift paper ticket here and get a new ID here.
