I see Dr Bushley. For my eye care. All the techs are great wait times are somewhat long. But they test your eyes dialate your eyes and move you to several different waiting areas. I have been a patient of Consulting Ophthalmologists in Glastonbury, CT for many years for the management and monitoring of glaucoma. At my last visit approximately six months ago, my eye pressure was well controlled, and there were no significant changes. I use two glaucoma medications daily and understand the importance of regular follow-up. Unfortunately, after missing a recent appointment, I called to reschedule and was told that the earliest available appointment was at the end of December. I asked whether I could see another provider within the practice sooner, but was told that no earlier appointments were available. I found this extremely disappointing. As a long-term patient with a chronic eye condition that requires ongoing monitoring, I expected better access to care and greater consideration for established patients. What concerns me most is that a practice should not accept more patients than it can reasonably care for. When long-term patients cannot obtain a follow-up appointment for many months, it raises serious questions about access to care and patient service. This experience left me feeling frustrated, undervalued, and disappointed. Rather than waiting until December, I have decided to look for another ophthalmologist. I hope Consulting Ophthalmologists will reconsider how it manages follow-up care for long-term patients with chronic eye conditions such as glaucoma. read more

Everyone here complains about wait times. Wait times for all good doctors has increased dramatically. That said, I saw a lack of reviews on the actual doctors. My first Dr. was Dr. Gilbert. By far the best doctor I have ever seen. Although he has a very dry personality, meaning there isn't a lot of chit chat always put me at ease. He has retired and I now have Dr Brandsdorfer. Extremely knowledgeable about my past corneal issues. He never rushes me and answers all my questions. He also gives me options and his recommendations. I have also seen Dr Busley who is also great! So as far as wait times, I just prepare myself when I have a doctor's apt. and accept it. If you want a good eye doctor, this is the office to go to. I hope this helps. read more

I was a patient of CO many years ago but left due to lack of care for patient experience. Recently I returned after hearing from a relative that the practice has improved. Initially my first few visits were good. Unfortunately the most recent visits have shown that the practice has not only returned to their old ways but have a focus that is moving away from care for patients and towards financial gain. My most recent appointment was the worst. Scheduled for 10:30, the appointment ended at 11:39. Doesn't seem too bad, except for the fact I was kept waiting for 41 minutes. In addition when I was seen I felt the technician and doctor were rushing through my exam with little care for me. I would have made the decision to find another doctor but that decision was made for me because the practice no longer accepts my VSP. The reason given "to focus on medical patients". This reinforced my impression that they are in it for financial gain rather than patient care. It seemed as if I was inconveniencing them when I asked for recommendations for a new Ophthalmologist. I specifically emphasized that I prefer an Opthalmologist over an optometrist. I was given one recommendation for an optometrist. If you choose CO, I hope you have a better experience than I did. read more

I have recommended friends, one of whom checked in very early at 8:00 am, but sadly waited for 1 1/2 hours--others who arrived later were seen sooner. He went to the desk to ask when he would be seen, but the young receptionist had no clue. He left, after wasting the entire morning, and will not return to this practice, which is unfortunate, as there are some very good doctors there. read more

Recently, I needed a quick prescription check and an updated pair of glasses. My first trip outside of their Farmington office for immediate scheduling and my convenience. Not a problem, Glastonbury to the rescue! One day later, I was in the Glastonbury office, in their waiting room on a weekday (a pre-scheduled vacation day for me). I grabbed an open seat in the sea of seniors that appeared much worse off than my present situation. My thoughts ran wild, "...Lordy how long will this eat into my V-day?" & "Do I really need a new pair of glasses even though 2 fingers looks like 4?" Before I had time to conjure up Panic Thought #3, my name was being called. Really? Later Ma 'n Pa! Yes, and I was quickly seated in an examination chair. My old pair were examined and confirmed they were on their last temple stem. Eye focus & prescription tweaked and confirmed by the unseen doctor. All within 30 minutes, I was off to their optional in-house Ophthalmology Department to pick our a new pair of groovy SHADES. No regrets! read more

First time patient: My recommendation is to only come here if you don't wear glasses. Several staff members were rude to me about my choice to wear glasses instead of contact lenses. I was lectured that because I have a heavy duty prescription I should be wearing contact lenses, despite the fact that I have been wearing glasses with a heavy prescription since the age of 2 and have never been given this advice. When I told them that I had tried contacts and found them uncomfortable and difficult to put in she dismissed me and said I should try them again. I have been seeing just fine with glasses my whole life. Don't know if they earn commission from 1-800-CONTACTS but they should learn how to talk to patients in a kind manner. On the other hand the people in the glasses shop are very lovely and I would definitely visit them again to buy my beautiful glasses. read more

Don't let the negative reviews sway you - most of them are from the last two years - and maybe COVID had something to do with it?? My husband and I have both been coming to this practice for about 10 years (after another doctor gave me a retina exam that literally put me in the hospital...but I digress...). I used to see Dr. Shelsta, who I loved, but when she moved I was a little worried about who I would get as a replacement, but now I have Dr. Mojica and love her just as much. I had my annual appointment last week - waited about 5 min to get called in, and yes, the appt is long, but that's because they take so much time with you. The techs are great, the office staff is cheerful, friendly and helpful (and I see the same faces in both locations - so there must not be a lot of turnover), and the doctors are top-notch. read more

I see Dr Bushley. I had previously seen and had corrective surgery on both eyes by a doctor in Manchester. When I was experiencing YAG a film over both eyes resulting in a haze in my eye sight I saw Dr Bushley. He was fantastic and resolved the issue. The other doctor I was told only saw cataract patients and was told he wouldn't see me. I honestly refer anyone to Consulting Opthalmomologists. You WILL be very happy you did! read more

i think dr. hill should retire - so full of himself - i have been seeing him for years - but he has become arrogant and rude to add. i saw him recently and couldn't believe his attitude.. when done, i had a question -he answered quickly and just walked out of the room - not much of an answer either - to make matters worse, i had made an appointment for my son for an exam and consult - even worse to him. it was a wasted trip for him if i had known his attitude and lack of caring had changed so much, i never would have recommended him to my son. go away dr. hill, you're not nice (or helpful) any more read more

I wish I could leave a separate review of the optical shop, versus the services of the doctors and other medical staff. The medical services side of this operation is top notch. None better. I would give them all 6 stars if I could. Now let's talk about the optical shop. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. I ordered a pair of glasses, and they said they would be ready in about a week. So I call them a week later , and they have to call the lab. That was a Tuesday. The lab tells them that there was some breakage, and that the glasses would be ready by Thursday. I call Thursday, and now they say they won't be ready until next Tuesday. Why didn't they say that this past Tuesday? Why doesn't optical shop call me to tell me instead of me calling them? Why isn't anyone accountable? They sound so sorry that I am being distressed. Yea, I believe that, sure. Oh by the way, I got a bill in the mail, after paying them $335 for my glasses (I have insurance too), because they now want more money for the glasses because insurance didn't cover something. I am not impressed with this customer service, and lack of accountability. So maybe all of us consumers need to take our eyeglass business to someone who is accountable and who really cares. We've been with Consulting Ophthalmology for several years but for the past 2 years, we have experienced a decline in service. The wait time has always been an issue, as other reviewers have stated. We understand a busy office and unexpected emergencies but on average, it takes 2 -2.5 hours. Testing is done by staff and you only see the doctor at the end for about 5-10 minutes, so he can check behind the eyes, etc.  When I brought up the issues I was having, he simply said I don't know.  Once again I was told there was a very slight change in my vision yet it is tough to read captions on the TV, see road signs, etc. Cataracts are not an issue so it's frustrating to hear you can't be helped. When I had a problem with the corner of my inner eyelid, I went to have it checked. I was told it was nothing, yet it hurt and was itchy. So I went to see my Dermatologist, who after examining, reached out to my eye doctor, as it was not related to a skin issue. The eye doctor agreed to recheck me. Although messages were left, the office never returned my calls. My struggle is finding an Ophtamologist closer than 45 min away, as this practice is the only group in the area. read more

The wait time is ridiculous. I just waited almost 2 hours for a 5 minute appointment with the doctor. This was my first time here and there were at least 20 people in the first waiting room. They then fake you out and bring you in for your history. Then it is off to the other waiting room to wait even more for your turn with the doctor. I will admit it was funny watching the old folks complain to each other about their epic wait times as well. The doctor was perfect, the office just needs to stop overbooking and be more aware I too have a life and a job and not make my lunch appointment turn into a 2 hour production. read more

I had an appointment today at Consulting Ophthalmologists in Glastonbury, CT. This was a referral from the Hartford Headache Center. As a new patient, the impression this office gives is that they only care about the money coming in, they don't truly care about the QUALITY of care. I checked in at 1:15pm and didn't leave until 3:35pm. Almost 2 and a half hours! I have never spent that long at an eye appointment before!!! Nurses are the ones who do your eye exam, your field of vision testing, etc. You only see the doctor at the end for about 5-10 minutes. When I brought up the issues I was having, he simply said I don't know. WHAT?! According to them, my eye glasses prescription didn't change but yet, my eyes are blurry?! I have been a customer of Target Optical (Dr Stimac) for several years. You can get a much better quality exam, more tests, and someone who wants to help you in much less time period. I recently had my annual appointment with Dr. Mojica in the Glastonbury office. The front desk staff were very friendly and efficient. I really didn't have a chance to get settled before I was called into an exam room. The technician tested my vision and was very thorough. She placed drops in my eyes and said I had to wait for my eyes to dilate. After about 15 minutes, I saw Dr. Mojica. She was pleasant and professional. My experience from beginning to end was a very positive one and on my way out, I learned they are building a new office that will be ready next year. Not good for contact lenses, after vision being measured the doctor changed the prescription and said that bifocals,trifocals contact lenses are not possible due to the size of the contact lens and the only thing left to do is to wear one lens for seeing close and another to see far. I won't recommend this place to anybody for contact lenses. read more

Took two days for them to return a call after I called four times regarding my son having an issue with contact lens he was given by the doctor. I have been a patient there for 17 years and these Docs and professionals are the very best. There may be a wait time but they never skimp on the time needed and that means everything. Had the first part of annual eye exam with who I presume was an optometrists fairly quickly and explained the issues, concerns, etc. but was told they would be addressed by the doctor. From the time of the appointment until the time we met with the doctor two hours went by. After only a few minute exam, the doctor said there were no issues, and said "see you next year." I had to raise the concerns and questions again, which prompted him to re-exam and find the concern that wasn't found just moments before. I also explained that it took two hours from the time of the appointment until meeting with them. The doctor said they do the best they can and apologized, but it wasn't sincere. On the way out, I explained that it took two hours to the receptionist checking us out, as well as the other receptionist who I had previously asked for help when we hadn't seen the doctor a hour and half in and who simple suggested that we continue to wait and didn't attempt to help. They both explained that patients are told to expect the appointment to take ninety minutes. Ours took 135 minutes. This could obviously be anomaly, but suggest 90 minutes for an annual exam is too much. More concerning was the lack of concern for our experience, and even more concerning was the care we received, without even considering the time invested. However, for this appointment, after waiting an hour and a half to see the doctor I have decided it is time to go elsewhere. I used to see an eye dr here years ago when I lived in CT. Always a great experience. This 5-star review is actually for the optometrists in the eyeglass shop. They're incredibly friendly and helpful. I'm in town visiting and I stopped in there today to have them adjust my sunglasses despite getting them from somewhere else and the gentleman that helped me was very courteous and adjusted my sunglasses at no cost. read more
