Again that has never happened at any other Eye Doctor I have ever been to. I believe these issues may be due to dealing with a large corporate structure instead of a local Eye Doctor's office. ReFocus in a corporation buying up local offices and consolidating billing and policies such that they extract more money from patients while providing poor service. I called them to see if they would address any of my concerns before posting this, but I could not even get anyone on the phone who had any authority to help me in any way.

At my last visit approximately six months ago, my eye pressure was well controlled, and there were no significant changes. I use two glaucoma medications daily and understand the importance of regular follow-up. Unfortunately, after missing a recent appointment, I called to reschedule and was told that the earliest available appointment was at the end of December. I asked whether I could see another provider within the practice sooner, but was told that no earlier appointments were available. I found this extremely disappointing. As a long-term patient with a chronic eye condition that requires ongoing monitoring, I expected better access to care and greater consideration for established patients. What concerns me most is that a practice should not accept more patients than it can reasonably care for. When long-term patients cannot obtain a follow-up appointment for many months, it raises serious questions about access to care and patient service. This experience left me feeling frustrated, undervalued, and disappointed. Rather than waiting until December, I have decided to look for another ophthalmologist. I hope Consulting Ophthalmologists will reconsider how it manages follow-up care for long-term patients with chronic eye conditions such as glaucoma.

The first thing I noticed, upon walking in was how spacious, clean, and not crowded the office was. Our appointments were back to back; The women working at the front desk were both personable and helpful. We waited maybe five minutes each to be seen...not long at all. I was impressed especially by the technology in his office because my previous eye doctor did not have anything like this. I felt like I was at an arcade, with all of the different machines meant to measure my vision. It seemed like a very thorough exam that didn't just rely on what I said but actual computer technology. I don't know about you, but whenever I'm getting my eyes checked, I almost feel like it's a test and I might be answering it wrong. I felt like the various machines prevented me from second-guessing myself. Dr. Alpert himself was very friendly, personable, and asked multiple times if I had any questions about anything we were discussing. For many years, I had gone to a different eyecare center and would get a prescription and then buy my glasses online. Based on his very thorough exam, and recommendations from the doctor, we went with eyeglasses that did cost a significant amount more than I'm used to paying. However, I do believe that we will get what we pay for when they come in, which is expected to be in the next two weeks The young man who helped us pick out frames was very patient as I couldn't make up my mind. I appreciated that he pointed out some frames that were on sale for us since I was buying two pair and we do not have insurance for them. I really like supporting a local doctor who isn't part of a big fancy conglomeration and I look forward to staying with this practice for many years to come. They switched up, lied & I declined, thus wasted my time doing all that just to pay or not pay in the end to a bunch of dishonest scum.
