I had a terrible experience at the Continental Currency on 7th street.The woman working there was incredibly rude from the start. Her name is Bonita. First, I called ahead to ask about the amount I could pick up and whether my ID would be accepted. She was dismissive, kept changing her answers, and acted like she just wanted to get off the phone. Instead of giving me a clear answer, she told me to just come down because she didn't know. I even told her that Western Union accepts my ID but she kept acting confused or like she just didn't want to help. When I arrived, the moment she realized I was the person who called, her attitude was rude. She said, I told you we don't accept this ID. Then she called her boss--who confirmed that they do accept it--so she was obviously wrong. Instead of admitting her mistake, she got annoyed and asked for my California ID number, well if I had a California ID number then I'd have a California ID, so then I'd be able to give her that instead but I don't. Then she was like oh my god you don't even have an ID, (But I did, and a valid one) I need your social security number, so I gave her that. I gave her my SSN, and then she asks, Where do you work?, I told her I was unemployed, and she gave me a blank look and I said why do you need my employment info and said, "Well, I can't help you if you're going to be like that." Like what?? Then she got even more rude and told me to go somewhere else then if other places accept my ID. Her boss said they do! But the absolute worst part? She insulted my appearance. She looked at my photo ID and snidely said, "This is you?" as if I didn't look good enough to be the same person. That was beyond inappropriate. I've never been treated this badly over something as simple as a money pickup. If you want to avoid attitude, incompetence, and rudeness, go somewhere else. After leaving, I went to the other continental currency services down the street, expecting another issue but being hopeful, and the woman there didn't even flinch about my ID. She simply processed the transaction, no drama, no rudeness, just professional service. I don't understand why it had a lower rating. I asked her if the continental on 7th and this one were connected and she said yes! She said they have the same owner and policy. I was shocked how easy she did it and that the stores are connected. It's one thing to not be informed about policies but don't be rude and insulting. Bonita needs to work on her customer service and learn what her job entails. She really should know what IDs are acceptable. So clearly, the problem wasn't my ID. The problem was that rude employee Bonita. Avoid this location unless you want to be treated horribly for no reason. Also I told my son about the whole incident and he said she's always like that to him as well, he said he's called there and been there before and she's just rude. So we both wonder how someone who is often rude like that could be employed when her job is all about customer interactions. read more

Awful service! The two tellers did not want to serve me and she brought me unclear situation, so she dared to say my first name is missed! Therefore, I fixed and call EDD Bank of America service! Almost sunset, I was informed that my full name was successfully fixed from EDD West Union department ! I just told the teller that my full name was uploaded! One of the teller told me that my name was not here, and I am so shocked because the customer representative just contacted West Union and my full cash was ready! Then, the EDD customer representative transferred me the other Western Union store, and luckily I could receive my full cash! Importantly, I saved $10 service charges from other money mart! All I needed was a simple currency exchange for 10 Canadian dollars. Sounds simple right? Apparently not. This specific location had questionable customer service. The customer service rep was not helpful at all. Just asking if its a flat fee or a percentage and she wouldn't tell me. Then I called other locations and they disclosed the info. Except, it was all slightly different from what each one gave me. You're better off exchanging currency at the airport or any bank. I shouldn't have wasted my time with continental.
