Not to mention we arrived in the springtime and the rental market was CRAZY! Good homes only stayed on a the market for a couple days. GREAT rentals were gone faster than that. It was extremely frustrating to find a place because of that and because we found ourselves going through so many different property management companies because of the levels of supply and demand for the rental housing market here. After several weeks of looking, we finally found a rental through Gable. They were so nice, professional, and flexible with their meeting times. The schedule flexibility was the first thing that stood out to me because the market here is so crazy busy. Candy and Lisa must be great at time management. Everything went fairly quickly with the lease signing and move in. It was low stress and that was a big plus with everything else going on for us with the move here. During this rental period, there have been minor maintenance issues. They have a great online site for maintenance requests and rental payments. It's so convenient and (more importantly than that), they are very responsive. Even if the repairs are not able to be done right away, they let us know they have received the maintenance requests and begin working a fix to the problem(s) right away. This not only shows care for the renters, but also a lot of care and respect for the property owners. We're about to renew our lease and the whole experience with renting and renewing has been very laid back and low stress again. Candy has been answering any questions that I have had about the new lease. Thanks, Gable for making our time here low stress in regard to renting a house. At the same time, a friend of ours was buying a home and after we "secured" our rate with Dwayne, we found out that there were LOWER rates which could have saved us THOUSANDS because our friends got a significantly lower rate at almost the same time (within a week). Augusta Financial clearly did not have our best interests at heart. They came recommend by the real estate agent of my husband's family and we trusted him, so lesson learned to not trust the family realtor and do our own research. My husband did not want to start the process over elsewhere with the amount of time we had already spent and as we had found a home we wanted to purchase at a more or less affordable price. Also, they did not tell us our loan would be IMMEDIATELY sold to another company. We already had set up automatic payments and got notification in the mail 2 weeks after we moved into our new home that the loan was sold. Dwayne also could not spell in almost any email we received from him, which personally irritated me. Grammarly is free. Attention to detail was not strong and everything he required was always urgent, but when we needed an answer to something he was nowhere to be found until it was convent for him. I also had to explain things several times to several different people at Augusta Financial like they do not communicate with one another there... Overall, I would say we had a rough first mortgage loan experience and do not recommend Augusta Financial. Take your chances with them as they do not look for the best rate for you, and they do not give you all the information upfront unless you know what to ask for; as first time home buyers, we did not know what to ask and there is A LOT of information out there and so much to understand that it can be very overwhelming for first time homebuyers.

My husband and I engaged Curtin's services for over 7 years. During that time we purchased 6…read moreannuities from him. He did not properly deliver any of them (i.e:. 1) hand us the policies (except in one case), 2) explain the policies and fees, 3) inform us of a free look as required in California. The first 4 policies were supposedly sent to us by the insurance company via UPS but were never received and we thought we were purchasing mutual funds so did not even realize we were supposed to receive physical policies. Without telling us, he included "living benefits" which we never asked for. So without knowing our rights to reject the policies, we were stuck with thousands of dollars of fees coming out of the policies for "benefits" we never wanted. We found out years later that he could have stopped the fees when the policies matured (and I asked him for years to do so). It wasn't until 2016 that I learned about "free looks." He also put the rest of my retirement money into an unsuitable investment that lost nearly 10% in less than 6 months. Several other of his clients also lost money in the same investment. At that point I told him to get my money out and he told me to wait another 4 months. When he did start the process of moving the money out, he failed to get the required medallion stamp which delayed the process by 2 months during which I experienced nearly another 10% in losses as the market continued to drop. The 4 policies referred to above and the investment are the subject of a FINRA disclosure (a regulatory authority). His statement in FINRA does not bother to mention the large losses that I experienced in the investment and he makes it sound like no money was lost with the annuities when thousands were taken out of our accounts in fees. Google broker check FINRA He also charged me a management fee for having my money sitting in cash in an advisory fund before investing it. He pretended to be our friend but took advantage of our ignorance and stupidity. Instead of fully disclosing information we needed during our meetings where he was supposed to review our investments and address concerns I continued to bring up about excessive fees, he burned up our time with idle chit chat about his family and other trivia. When I started confronting and questioning him as I realized what he had done to us, he resigned. Avoid this man. He did not look out for my best interests and it cost me dearly. And he is unapologetic about it as you can see in his FINRA disclosure.
