It's easy to become complacent with who you choose to do your taxes. It's a decision that once you make you tend to not change, for better or for worse, because you do it either out of habit, or frankly, you just don't know any better. Last year after using the same accountant to do my taxes for over 10 years I became irate after IRS wrote me a letter stating that I had a very large refund coming because I had overpaid my taxes. When you hire an accountant to do your taxes you expect them to get you the maximum refund, not the IRS. So I decided to use Trevor Rice from the Stern, Kory, Sreden & Morgan CPA firm to refile my 2012 taxes and to file my 2013 taxes. Both of the visits with Trevor went incredibly smooth. I came in with my documents, we spent about an hour discussing my finances while he input the information in his computer, then it was done. Quick and painless. He almost made it look too easy. It is obvious that Trevor knows his stuff. He made some key recommendations that I never would have thought of that allowed me to receive a generous return. As a matter of fact, it was the largest refund that I have ever received. You don't just want someone who is competent, you want someone who is knowledgeable and is able to give you insightful recommendations in order to maximize your return. Recently used this firm for family estate trust matters after my father's passing at the beginning of the year. Nothing but problems in communicating with the staff here. Make sure you get their fees for the services they will be providing in writing. Very disappointing experience during an already stressful time after the death of a family member.
