I have been seeing Dr. Sandeep Gaonkar for quite a while. He and the staff at Conventions Health are INCREDIBLE. Any time I call I am treated respectfully and in a very timely manner. Dr. G listens to me, offers advice, is empathetic, is never dismissive and has truly been a blessing to me. (The previous practice I had dealt with was unbelievably rude and condescending.) I would absolutely NOT recommend this psychiatric practice to anyone. I have seen 3 practitioners since I started at Conventions a year and a half ago. Each person had unique flaws, including one who treated me as though I struggled with addiction, which I didn't (dr. de la peña). When I requested to switch to a new provider, I connected well with her, but she changed practices after 2 sessions (I wonder why, Dr. Williams?). I then was transferred to the worst provider I have ever seen in my nearly 7 years of seeing a psychiatrist. Dr. Anju Kallan recommended me a medication, told me I needed bloodwork to start it, made me wait a month, and then didn't bring up the medication that I wanted to try at the next appointment. She also dropped me as a patient without warning and suggested I see someone else. I am only agreeable to see Dr. G since I need a psych's approval to start a different medication. I cannot stress this enough, do not trust this practice with your health. read more

Dr Gaonkar is a wonderful psychiatrist. I have suffered with depression for decades. I have not lived a full life because depression has been such a thief. Conventions is one of the only places in the area that is able to help my son with a medication that is on a registry. He has been with this office two full years and for the most part everything has been super flexible and he has been able to get exactly what he needs to stay healthy and live on his own. Dr. Samar Mahmood is a really excellent psychiatrist I have been seeing for about 4 years. She is understanding and intelligent, and even when I have to make appointments with her for refills, she takes time to have a brief "counseling" session with me. I have gotten really great counseling and advice from her, and she is welcoming and helpful. The receptionists, however, are not. The receptionists over the 4 years I have been going here have always been dull, short, rude, and unhelpful. Their attitudes are that of someone who does not want to be there, let alone being a receptionist who is supposed to be the face of the company and the one who gives those who come in the first and last impression of their visit. I've been afraid to post my review but I figured I should warn others. Run very far away from this practice. Therapist Dan Lee was very rude, unprofessional, and cussed at me. The way he spoke to me was borderline emotionally abusive. He was very hostile towards me and said things to me that a therapist should never say. The front office staff is caring and patient (now that they have new receptionists). I love my therapist, Dr Anne Dickinson! She's amazing and has helped not only me, but my family deal with past trauma and current issues. I would highly recommend her... Anne's patient, kind, caring and very intelligent! Do yourself a favor and run! Far, far away! There was an issue with insurance not paying and therefore I could not go through with the scheduled appointment for my daughter and had to cancel the morning of the appointment. I also had an appointment that I had to reschedule because my daughter woke up with the flu (impossible to give 24 hours notice for that) so due to those two occurrences I receive a bill for $100. I was told by the receptionist both times because of the nature of the cancellation that I wouldn't be charged the fee. Well I was charged so I called to get it sorted out and couldn't get ahold of the office manager. I talked to someone else. She said she would get back to me. The location itself tempted me to go elsewhere. I made a request for a call reminder for my appointment but didn't get one (despite them saying they did) nor was there a voicemail left, causing me to miss my appointment and get a nice $50 bill in the mail. No reminder card was given either and rather than take it the charge off due to their mistakes, the fee remained. Guess that's what happens when the girl in training messed up and rather than fix their mistake, the give terrible customer service instead and lose my business. I went here for my ADD that I've had since I was in middle school but the doctor seemed to be more focused on feeding me anxiety medications than giving me what I need for my focus, occasional cluttering speech, and terrible memory. The first medication made me feel terrible and actually lost sleep. Again, my complaint is more toward their wanting of a short-term amount of money than pleasing a customer for something they messed up on, so I would look to other practices for assistance. Also, if you are coming from Naperville / Aurora on Rt. 59, going toward Barlett, you'll have to do a U-Turn to get in the plaza, which is another pain. read more

Dr Lee is an incredible psychologist. Ive seen him since high school and he uses primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat anxiety and depression. He also has an existential or philosophical approach to his treatment, which is sustainable in terms of adopting an overall perspective change to life and not merely treating symptoms. His approach may not be for everyone but it is very well worth it if you are looking for objectivity and overall growth and maturity alongside treating your mental health issues. read more

Find somewhere else I was incorrectly billed because the receptionist made a mistake with the computer. She seemed new which is fine, but left me feeling uncomfortable about my copay. My bank statement said I made the copay, but it was a huge hassle to get them to drop the bill they sent me later for that appointment. Finally I just wrote another check and sent it. I thought that may resolve is, but just today I received another bill I have also received bills for a doctor I have never seen You'll have to leave a message when you call billing and insurance to get these things sorted out because you're always sent to voicemail. And you'll be waiting a day or two before they call you back I only came here because my insurance changed. I've been on the same medication and doing well for 10 years-but I need to see a doctor every three months to get the prescription. Even though I've been doing well on the mediation, my doctor keeps pushing me to take and writing prescriptions for Lexapro which I fully believe I don't need and certainly don't want. Want to know how much your doctor makes from pushing certain prescriptions? Look it up. It's public information Finally, the name on my prescription has been wrong twice now and you may imagine what a headache that causes. Dr Shetty is absolutely terrible. If I could give his place 0 stars I would. I went to her in April 2018 looking to get on a different antipsychotic medication. I explained to her that my current medication was making me extremely suicidal and I literally spent my last bit of money to see her (because I couldn't work at the time) and get some other type of medication. She literally told me that she wouldn't switch my meds because it would cause me to gain weight. She had no other reason other than that. I would rather have a few extra pounds and be ALIVE, than skinny and dead. Luckily I was able to get onto another medication at a later time and I've literally had ZERO issues with suicidal thoughts since then. She's extremely unprofessional and clearly doesn't care about the well-being of her patients. It's really unfortunate that someone like that is allowed to "care" for mentally ill patients. Then they were going after my son yet he was a minor at the time so he was not able to be in a contract with any place to be responsible for a bill. DO NOT GO HERE. Needs a 1/2 star. I have been going to Conventions for a long time after switching prescriptions for mild ADD; same doctor, same meds, I'm an easy patient only needing montly refills. One month ago I went in for my 3rd annual appointment for a medication refill and randomly was ushered into a room by a new psychiatrist. NO notice or ANY heads up while making my appointment that I would have a different doctor, or even asking if I would like to change who my appointment was with. My then-current doctor was so-so and didn't really care about me that much, but I was fine seeing him for refills. The staff here is also very short with everyone and I really do not like dealing with them on the phone or in the office. I was told they were overloaded and trying to divvy up patients, but speaking with someone who I have never met before and who I knew nothing about to prescribe my meds after 10 years was very off putting being the patient. My new doctor was nice, except after I left and went to fill my prescription, she had prescribed me the WRONG medication. I am very happy I pay attention to what I take, how much, the brand, etc. because what I received at Walgreens was not the same medication I had been taking for 10 YEARS and the incorrect one I know affects me differently, thus I DON'T TAKE IT. She was so busy talking she wrote down the wrong prescription. I'm not a pharmacist nor a psychiatrist, but I'm pretty sure not messing up someone's medication is the number one rule on how not to get sued. Unbelievable. To top it all off: They left me three voicemails at work to let me know my correct re-written prescription was ready. I leave work early to go pick it up. I walk into the office, door is wide open, and NO ONE is there. There was one private psychiatrist who rents out an office there, and he tried to help find my written prescription but couldn't find it. He mentioned that sometimes everyone leaves work early on Fridays. IT WAS 3 PM ON A FRIDAY. NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A TECHNICAL WORK DAY END FOR PEOPLE WHO WORK 7:30 am-5pm. I was instructed in one of the voicemails left by the office that they are open on Saturday mornings so i could pick it up. I called Saturday morning just to check if they were open before I drove all the way over there, and the call transferred me directly to some other operator who takes the calls of this psych office and I was told that Saturday hours do not exist. WHAT. The unprofessionalism at this office, the bitchy and inconsistent staff, incorrect prescriptions and inconsistent and uninterested doctors was more than enough for me to be done with this place forever. If you want good medical care, which you should have regardless of what you are requiring, do not go here. Parents- get someone who will actually notice your child and really try to give the best medical care for him/her. This place just wants long vacations and a paycheck. read more

I visited Dr. Lee with my 12 year old son. We quickly determined that his style and approach was not a good fit for us. The office staff was rude. Because we only spent 15 minutes with the doctor, we never got billed. Or so I thought. 13 months later we were billed the full amount for a complete evaluation. They claimed that our insurance company denied the claim. In reality, they suspended the claim pending a need for more information from Conventions. Conventions never provided this info and will not communicate again with the insurance company. Their business practices alone should keep you away from this firm. I do not recommend. read more

I see Dr. Shetty and she's been helpful. No, she's not warm and fuzzy but most psychiatrists aren't. She spoke with me at length in our first appointment and determined the course of treatment. She took my input into consideration. Follow-up appointments are short and sweet and she makes changes based on my experiences with the medication. She's no-full and that's what I like about her. I would give 0 stars if I could. I am on Venaflaxine which has an extremely short metabolism rate, meaning if you go more than 48 hours without it you feel extremely sick. It is one of the top 10 pills that cannot be abruptly stopped. I called Costco pharmacy to get a refill and was told I was out of refills and that they would have to contact my doctor (Gaonkar) to refill. Five days later an assistant called and told me since I had missed an appointment I would need to pay a 50.00 late fee, no problem, and she would call the prescription in. She then called 20 minutes later and told me the doctor wanted a 30.00 additional convenience fee to write the prescription. They wrote it for only 22 days which is when my appointment was. Here is the thing, what if I didnt have the additional 30.00? They are going to basically blackmail you knowing you need the medication? I feel this is very unprofessional and unethical to do this. I had no problem paying the late fee, however trying to get more money to write a short term prescription shows greed and lack of concern for the patients. read more

I'm currently a patient but not for long. Had a case of anxiety and depression. The Dr was nice at first but she became uncaring after a few appointments. Here is a prescription and good luck. They are all about the co-payment. I needed paper work filled out for my insurance company. It took her three weeks to fill and me calling every other day. To teach me a lesson for being persistent they made sure I knew I was being charged $30 for the Dr to fill out the insurance forms. The insurance company called me and said the Dr did not fill out the forms correctly. The staff at the front desk are snippy and don't care. Who knows if the Dr will resend the forms I need. read more

Conventions Psychiatry and Counseling, Billing department is Horrible (Excel Med ) And Horrible in office Costumer service. First of all they sent me a few bill statement, billing me for services with a different therapist. I called my insurance, My insurance pull up the statements and every appointment that I had taken my daughter to had been billed under the wrong therapist name. So I called the billing number given on my bill statement (877-204-6225) from Conventions Psychiatry and Counseling, only to find out that they no longer do the billing for Conventions Psychiatry and Counseling, and had no other information for them. I Called Conventions Psychiatry and Counseling and ask to speak to office manager (Dallia Gudzeviciene) they put Dallia on the phone I told her all of the above, Dallia said she would look into it, and that I had to call my insurance because they are always making mistake. Two weeks want by she did not look into it. Everything was the same. I called back ask Dallia what was going on, she said she did know. I ask if they have a billing department number, this is the number I got (1-888-656-7558) They said they would fix it. it's been a month and I a bill again with the same mistake made by Conventions psychiatry and counseling billing department (Excel Med ) I called and they ask that I leave my number and they will get back to me,Have not got a call back. I would not even give this place a 1 star rating. First off, I was billed for an appt that I never even made or attended, I was never notified of this then was sent a letter from a collection agency two years after the fact and this popped up only because I'm in the pre-approval process of purchasing a home. The staff is completely unprofessional, spoke with "Lauren" at the front desk she was not able to have me speak with a manager about this and was told their was nothing they could do for me that I would have to contact the collection agency, when I spoke with them they told me conventions psy had to speak with them since they sent this on "error" after all of this trouble and speaking with "Lauren" at the front desk she does not know who does the billing for the office she works for then gave me a false number, she also told me she took my number down and was going to have "a manager" return my call, I also asked her if she could email/fax a statement saying that I have a $ zero balance and that this was a mistake on their behalf for my records so that I could send this to the collection agency along with a credit company to file a dispute, she said she is unable to do that and will mail me something. This is completely illegal and unacceptable for I am in the process of speaking with an attorney. I would never trust such a business who makes such mistakes with people's confidential information. When a business makes a mistake it should be doing the up most to fix its mistakes for its patients, I would not trust this business nor recommend anyone to this place of so called business. read more
