The Duly billing department has been extremely difficult to work with. The billing representative refused to listen and continued to threaten to send my account to collections. A patient should not be asked to pay the full balance while Medicare and secondary insurance are also being billed. Doing so raises serious concerns about potential medical billing fraud. The billing department seems to have little understanding of how insurance works, and they refuse to contact the insurance company to verify information. Ever since the switch to Duly, the experience has been terrible. I will be reporting this situation to Medicare so it can be reviewed appropriately.

I am allergic to several medications, and have numerous adverse reactions. Yet, he decided to prescribe me a new drug, Levaquin. Even though, he knew that the only medication I did not have a reaction to was a Zpack. Levaquin is now known for horrific adverse reactions, and is involved in several class actions. I had a horrific, terrifying reaction to Levaquin. I was transported to the ER. I stopped seeing Brooks regularly and began seeing other doctors. Years later (2021) I went to obtain my records to show a new primary my adverse reaction to this medication. To my surprise, there was no documentation of the adverse reaction, or that I was prescribed this medication at all. I went to see Brooks after the ER visit, that was not in there either. I specifically requested these documents for this adverse reaction. There was another incident in 2018, too. In my desperation for help, I reached out to Brooks (after not seeing him for a very long time). I was getting ready to take the bar (I am a lawyer) and I started having horrific panic attacks. I couldn't step outside my apartment without having a panic attack. I went to Brooks in tears asking if he could help me, and I even asked for a prescription for Xanax to help with the panic attacks. Instead he said he would prescribe me Prozac. He prescribed me either 60mg or 90mg of Prozac (I can't remember which one). When I went to the pharmacy to fill the prescription, the pharmacist asked me how long I was on the medication. I told her this was my first time filling - she told me that my doctor shouldn't have prescribed me this, that he should have started me off at 5mg. She said she'd still fill it. I was desperate and I stupidly trusted the prescription. At that point in time, it was a miracle I was even able to get to a pharmacy without a panic attack. I took the medicine and went off of it within three weeks. It was excruciating. While I think everyone's medical treatment is private, I hope this helps someone and I'm sorry I didn't post sooner. After spending time with my family during the holidays and realizing several were still seeing this doctor/going here, but never heard what I went through, I thought it best to share so people could make informed decisions.

He has been my primary care physician for the past 20 years or so. So yes, I've had him through pediatrics, redolence and now my late 20's. Funny enough when I lost my job, he offered me a temp receptionist position till i got back on my feet. His number one concern is your health NOT your health insurance. He takes the time to listen to you and whatever issues you feel you are having. He also is very candid about what he thinks is the best course of treatment for you. When it comes to billing, if you have no insurance he works on a payment plan with you and he tries his best if he needs to prescribe to you, generics and many times he'll hook you up with samples he receives. His office hours are Mondays 9-5 Tuesdays 2-8 Thursdays 10:00 - 3:30 Fridays 9-3 and Saturday by appt only. His receptionist Jenny is super sweet and he has a part time MA and a part time nurse who happens to be his sweet wife :) My only advice to you is; when you go, take something to do--book, ipod, something. I have to give here exceptional credit for weathering the changes in healthcare let alone those practice changes with the recent market in the Chicagoland area. Dr. Rae is a great service driven physician that listens, assesses, treats and follows up with patients. Although an internist, she has an excellent handle on diabetes and its treatment. Over the years our family's health has thrown several curve balls that she has fielded well. Emergency calls, Late night appointments and collaborative efforts with other physicians are among her exceptional service qualities. If we have ever had any issues, it has been directly traced through the errors of transitioning support staff.

An employee parks right next to me at 0627 and goes inside. Lights come on. I give her a minute and try the doors at like 0635. Doors locked. I stand out for a bit (20 degree weather) but no one comes to the door. I tried calling both phone numbers listed for the facility but they say the clinic is closed until 0700. I tried the doors a 3rd time at 0642 and finally doors open. The woman at the front (who had parked next to me) was immediately hostile. She says 'the doors are hard to open and just look locked' and 'no one called'. (I tested the doors on the way out, and not only were they easy to open, but automated, so she lied about them being unlocked.) She acknowledges that she saw me standing outside but didn't come to the door. Absolutely rude the rest of check in. If I didn't very much need the MRI I would have left. I felt vulnerable and anxious the rest of the visit, even though the tech was great.

I said I found her online searching for a doctor who understands low carb and would give me a comprehensive health eval and do extra blood tests that 99% of other doctors don't do. Also, I'm getting older and I suspect I have inflammation. She spoke a bit about what she does. It was what I was looking for. She mentioned her fee and I was ok with the fee. Then she said she only takes referrals from doctors because "most people don't understand what she does". If she just stopped her sentence at "only takes referrals from doctors" I would have thanked her and the conversation would have ended. But I replied that I do understand what she does and that I have a lot of knowledge about low carb and have done it on and off for years and have had success in weight loss and felt better. But I didn't stick with it because of my lifestyle and now in my 50's I have inflammation and I want to work with a doctor like her. She said she disagreed with me about why I didn't stick to low carb as if she has any clue about me, my health and life. She rambled on and kept pushing me for a doctors name even after I said I didn't have one. So thinking maybe it would help, I revealed a minor health issue I had in 2016 and how that doctor (I mentioned that doctor by name) told me to go low carb. She immediately started talking so she had no idea what I did and didn't do for treatment and what results were of tests I had back then in regard to this issue and that I have had no issues with it since. The conversation went on for a while and it was a jumbled mess. She was all over the place with her words. She spoke erratically. There was nothing linear about our conversation. She called me "obese". I never told her my height and weight but she probably took an educated guess thinking from a BMI perspective I am considered "obese". That's true but visually speaking I am overweight but I do not look obese. I'm not even in plus size clothing. It was totally unnecessary for her to call me obese in this conversation. Then she told me to go to any ol' MD, which is exactly what I don't want. I remember her saying the word "bariatric" in her mess of words and then she said that I need to get on pharmaceuticals and HRT. I said I want a doctor who will use nutrition and supplements first and see how it goes. She said it wouldn't be possible for me to do that and be successful with my health. She said this to me with minimal information about me and no lab work. I was shocked how a doctor who presents herself on her website as using food, fasting and supplements for health just wanted to pawn me off on any ol' MD and get on pharmaceuticals and HRT. I have read a ton of books and listened to a lot of podcasts on low carb, keto, carnivore and fasting. I know a lot can be corrected without drugs and HRT. And her website leads you to think she knows this too. Finally she sounded as if she had enough of dealing with me and wrapped up the conversation pushing me away and wishing me well in my health (something like that, it was a crazy whirlwind) and I literally stood there mouth agape at the appalling manner in which this doctor handled this entire conversation. Her site says her protocols "are designed to prevent the onset of chronic diseases and limit the progression of aging." Judging by her very comprehensive website I should have been a shoo-in for this doctor. But no. Something is very "off" about her. Update: Just looked at the facebook page for her practice. She claims she stands with "science" and that fraud Fauci. She actually believes "testing" with that fake PCR test means anything. She's masked up like a c0v-id cult freak in a few photos. She is decked out in these things. LOL She's a conventional medical industrial complex MD who just happens to follow a low carb/keto diet. I dodged a bullet.
