Originally, I picked Convergence Dance and Body because of its location. I live just two minutes up the road and knew that gave me the best chance of actually going to dance each week. I dislike exercising, to a fault. Dance is one of the only things I enjoy that could be considered a workout. So, location was a priority. I've stayed for over a year now because of the staff. Roxanne is an extremely skilled and experienced instructor. She is also very personable, making classes fun and relaxed. I've never laughed harder during exercise! I've never regretted going to class and always leave in a better mood. I've gained the skills and confidence I need to get out into the social scene for West Coast Swing. I've also seen Dr. Carter for chiropractic care. He is a competent and knowledgeable provider. He's been able to get me in quickly after acute episodes of back and neck pain. Now I see him about once a month, usually when I can feel my neck stiffen up. He uses a variety of modalities to address the specific needs of his patients. Garth was an excellent dance teacher to work with. I promised my wife we would learn a dance for our wedding, and I had to be dragged to this dance class. We loved our classes at convergence! We took classes to prepare for our wedding dance and it was the most fun part of the wedding planning. It was really an excuse for me to go dancing with my (!) now husband, and now he enjoys dancing as long as it's salsa or bachata! I've been taking dance lessons through Convergence for years! I've done numerous group classes and private lessons for Salsa and Bachata, West Coast Swing and Tango. Currently I'm doing West Coast Swing lessons with Roxanne Maier, which have really progressed my dancing. The instruction is well thought out while still being casual. Roxanne and team do an excellent job of encouraging our own personal dance interests while providing good structure, fundamentals and fun dance skills/moves I would never have thought of myself. (As a bonus, I've met some good friends through the group classes). I'm more than comfortable going out socially for any one of these dances. My wife purchased a Gift Certificate in late December 2019. With the pandemic and flu season somewhat behind us, I called to ask about using the certificate. To be fair, the certificate had expired. However, I find it completely disappointing a studio that claims to be "mind and body' oriented, wouldn't understand why I chose to protect my health. I wonder how much money they've made off the pandemic with similar customers. This maybe a great place, but you took my money, provided nothing, and couldn't even offer some accommodation. We came here because we didn't know anything about any salsa classes or studios. In hindsight, we got so lucky we ended up here. What we thought would be just Salsa 1 ended up as Salsa 2A and Salsa 2B, then Bachata. We are hooked because these folks make dancing fun and easy for anyone. I don't go to a chiropractor regularly, but I have been to another one years ago when I had some disc problems. Fast forward to a few months ago and I ended up with some pain that just wasn't going away on it's own. I called Dr. Carter Maier and he got me in the same day. He thought I might need to come back a few times, but whatever he did was so good that it fixed it in one session...even without me doing all of the exercises he suggested I do. And he even gave me a first time patient discount. The bill was very affordable! Then last month a totally unrelated problem came up, I didn't suffer through pain this time. I called right away and, again, Dr. Carter got me in right away. He did his magic and again I didn't even need a second visit. I love that he isn't one of those chiropractors that automatically puts everyone on a schedule of 2-3 times a week for X weeks. Some people he sees once and it does the trick. Other times you need a few visits, or even ongoing visits. It all depends on how you respond to the treatment and what is wrong. And as someone who hates getting that cracking thing where they jerk you quickly to get your bones into the right place, I LOVE that he has this handy thing called an activator (I think that's what it's called) that can do the same thing without that jerking motion. Next time I have a problem, you can bet I'll be calling Dr. Carter. read more

The instructors (Roxanne and Robert) are both knowledgable, friendly, and insightful - and really, I could go on! I am currently taking an 8 week "Fresh From Buenos Aires Series: Clever Not Complex (Beginners Welcome!)" Tango class, and it could not be more enjoyable :) And after class - the instructors never 'kick people out' - they stick round and answer any questions! My fiance and I went to Convergence for their Intro to Ballroom Series and while we had no idea what to expect because neither one of us has ever had any experience with ballroom dancing, WE HAD A BLAST! My fiance, in particular, was always the last person to get out on the dance floor, but because our teacher ROXANNE IS AWESOME, my fiance will now get out there, feel comfortable with his feet, and have fun! And this was only after 6 classes. The class experience was perfect. The studio is immaculate, inviting, and inspiring with images of masterful dancers and sheet music from the exciting days of jazz and swing clubs. Aside from my fiance and myself, there were only 4 other couples and this felt just right. Not so many people that we got lost in the shuffle, but not so few that we felt like we were all lone on our awkward journey towards dance floor proficiency. And Roxanne was always able to help us understand how make even the trickiest-looking moves feel natural. She knows very well how to get you to know what you're doing and allow you to have fun along the way! No better way to learn.
