New to the area, I researched doctors in the neighborhood and to my luck, I found Board Certified Gynecologist, Dr. Idalia Talavera. Her office space is shared with various doctors but her office is shared with Dr. Roberto H. Solano. They have their own check in desk. The waiting area is very clean and has all the necessary medical reading material and modern magazines. The young ladies at the front desk are very nice and professional. I like that Dr. Talavera has the same staff as the last time I was there. It is nice to see the same familiar faces. Dr. Talavera has impeccable bedside manner. She interacts and communicates very well with me giving as much information possible. She is open to communication and makes you feel at ease. I am never rushed during my appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Talavera!

Her room is bright, well-kept, and always smells fresh. The common areas are warm and inviting, with comfortable seating, make the space feel more like a home than an institution. I know how hard it is to place a loved one in a facility, but Kisha (Guest Services Coordinator) has given me peace of mind. She patiently listened to all of my concerns and gave me her professional opinion and feedback. I also had a small procedure done and it was quick and easy. I definitely recommend going Dr. Frankel. Place was easy to find west off of Oakland Park Blvd. and the Turnpike. For a new patient I do recommend going in about 1/2 hour before to fill out your paperwork and wait until your folder is prepared before you see the doctor. Thanks.

Not Recommended I…read morewent to this urgent care because I suspected I had a broken toe. Before going in, I called to confirm they had an X-ray machine, which they did. They took the X-ray but then told me they did not have someone available to read it and that they would call me with the results. Hours passed and I never received a call. As they were closing, I called the clinic myself and was told that the X-ray showed my toe was not broken and that it was probably a sprain. The pain never went away, so my primary care doctor referred me to a foot specialist at Holy Cross. They took another X-ray and confirmed that the toe was actually fractured. My insurance paid more than $500 for the urgent care visit, and I was later billed a $24 co-pay. I called the clinic to explain that the fracture had been missed and asked if the co-pay could be waived. The office manager told me it "shouldn't be a problem" but said she would call me back. Instead, I later received a call from the operations manager, Camilo, who told me they would not waive the $24. What is most frustrating is not just the missed fracture, but the lack of follow-up communication and unwillingness to work with me on such a small billing issue after the situation. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this urgent care.

From the checking in to the care after surgery. Everyone was super professional and they had excellent bedside manner. Everything was explained in detail and I was given every opportunity to ask any questions. After the procedure, I was very well taken care of by nurse Kathy who was super nice, efficient and caring. She even called me the following day for a follow up and she sounded genuinely caring and concerned for my well-being. I cannot rave enough for my experience at this facility.

I can't recall the phlebotomists name but she was GREAT. I'm a very hard stick, but with me giving her a heads up she was able to get my vein and collect blood on the first stick. Nothing too serious, but something we needed to attend to before our flight out in a day and a half. Not being local-locals, we were a long way from home and our primary care doctor. It was mid-afternoon as businesses are all closing down in preparation of hurricane; we were quite in a panic. I tried calling around and having no luck finding a provider that could help us. I saw the listing for Island City Urgent Care & Medical Center, called, but could hear that my call was going to voicemail. I hung up without leaving a message. We figured to just go in person and forget trying to call. While on the way there, my phone rings and it's Kyle from Island City checking to see if whomever had called was okay, needed emergency medical assistance, etc. This, alone, was one of those moments that remind you of the good in people because such a call could have been life saving if someone was unable to complete the call due to illness. Fortunately, this was not the case. We explained the situation and he started assisting us and guiding us right away. We were nearly there when he called and when we got there, his only aim was to get the information and help us to navigate through the complexities of being out of town, needing urgent medical assistance - within a time crunch.
