Dr Roy is an excellent internist with an in-house pharmacist offering a full range of crunchy natural traditional remedies along with traditional allopathic remedies where necessary. They do not take insurance but most of the lab tests he orders can be covered by my insurance. Most importantly to me, he's a well-read critical and inquisitive thinker who listens, orders the correct range of important lab tests & follows up personally through the portal to respond to questions, etc. If you are interested in root causes & trying supplements before pharma & surgery, he will work well with you. My planter fasciitis (foot pain) of several years duration is gone after seeing him & taking simple supplements, though 2 years of the podiatrist had not helped! Great place & doctor!

However when I came in for my follow up appointment I was handed two pages to read about their new policy and then the receptionist left to go do other things. I was not told what it was that they wanted me to sign. As I read it was a new card on file policy where they would automatically charge me for the difference the insurance wouldn't cover. I have zero problem paying for things that my insurance won't cover, but I don't want to give anyone my card to keep on file and charge. I have had too many experiences when the dr office just coded something incorrectly and I was told that I needed to pay x amount when really once things were coded and submitted properly I was fully covered. I did not want to give any dr the ability to charge my card when it the mistake is not mine. Again, if something is not covered then I will pay my bills. But I don't want to be in a situation where I have an unexpected charge on my card. I was told that if I didn't want to give them a card I could pay the full amount and they would reimburse me once the insurance paid the bill. I told them I didn't want to do either but preferred to normal way. Another patient in the office piped up and said that she felt the same way as I did and agreed with me. I do feel bad that they feel like they need to do this. I am sure there are some people who don't pay their bills and would but they sr office in this situation but I am not one of those people who do not pay and I don't like being treated this way. I felt like they were trying to slide one by with a "new policy" that wasn't explained or necessary. They told me I could reschedule for a later time once I was feeling better about their policy. I told them I would go somewhere else. I know this is a new office that just opened up within the year and it is a husband and wife team. I want them to succeed and become filthy rich because of their customer service and patient care but in order for that to happen they need to make better policy decisions that don't make their patience feel like this.

I booked a "New Patient Full Body Skin Check" appointment online for July, but was happy to receive an alert saying that Dr. Covington could see me sooner this week. So I hopped on it and completed the online registration. Registration was straight forward and I appreciated the clear and frequent communication leading up to the appointment. On the day of, check-in was straightforward, the front staff was kind and professional, and the waiting area was new and shiny; all was looking up until my appointment. I met the Dr. who was nice, but I realized early on that this would be a touch and go appointment. I immediately sensed I was being hurried. My "new patient" experience felt very impersonal. I talked about my skin concerns, but the doctor didn't seem curious about any of them and asked little to no follow up questions-- only giving quick answers that left me with more questions. After I talked about my concerns, that was it. I'm not sure what the "Full Body Skin Check" was supposed to entail, but there was no additional "checking" of any kind, and I was so over the whirlwind appointment after a mere 10-15 mins that I didn't care to ask. I left with an Rx and follow up appointment that I'll be canceling now that the dust has settled. I'm glad I checked this place out for myself, but it's back to Austin I go.
