After a few days of this protocol, Zuni is doing much better. Dr Ireland was very instructive, patient, and thorough. I will follow up with my vet when I reach my home, but appreciate Dr Ireland immensely with her diagnosis & help. I would recommend this practice, as staff & vet were kind & professional. This clinic is also the only time I've ever seen one of my cats in deep distress. They were trying to administer an injection, and my cat was screaming and crying like I've never heard before. They wrapped him in a blanket, and I left feeling like I was being blamed for his discomfort. Since then, I have taken my cats to Noah's Ark in Rapid City, where they treat your pets like family. Both of my cats have fully recovered from their gingivitis without any extractions, and my cat has never reacted like that at another veterinary clinic. I'm also a college student, and when I asked about financing options, I did not feel like my concerns were well received. Noah's Ark helped us get set up with CareCredit. My experience left me feeling like this clinic was more focused on recommending expensive treatment than exploring less invasive options. Please take your pets somewhere else so they can get the care they deserve. If your pet is recommended for extensive dental work, I strongly encourage getting a second opinion before making a decision.

I think my bill at All Creatures was around $800. She didn't seem to care one way or the other. So I took my dog back to Dakota Hills Veterinary where my dog had gone before All Creatures. I emailed the clinic and got a prompt response from Elysia. She was able to get me in for an appointment at my preferred date and time. She also provided a quote for my services and told me about upcoming specials! She saved me a bunch of money on a dental cleaning by suggesting I get an evaluation first to ascertain if it was necessary. I showed up to my appointment a little early to fill out the paperwork and was shown into a private waiting room immediately after checking in (which was very nice, as my dog is ... rather high energy. I did try a Paw Plan with one of my pets, and felt like I wasn't saving money and was instead losing it. When I rescued a cat and decided to foster it instead of taking it to the Humane Society, I called my vet to ask about the cost of vaccinations, neutering, and the office visit. She spent several minutes trying to sell me on a Paw Plan and was resistant to just simply naming a price. I felt so frustrated! I decided to call West Winds and the receptionist who answered was incredibly friendly and forthright. She named a neutering price that was $200 less than my previous vet. She didn't try to sell me on any plans. She also booked my appointment more quickly. When I got there, I just felt there was a real warmth to their environment and I loved the kitty greeters in the waiting area! My foster kitty (who became my adoptive kitty) was treated incredibly well and he healed quickly. I'll never switch to another vet. It's so nice to find people who clearly care so much about animals.
