When eating here and getting a burger always make sure to say you want the burger WELL DONE, 99% of the time it will not be done in the middle. The service is very slow and you will need to wait at least 30 minutes regardless if you order ahead of time. We stopped on our way to Tulsa. Very nice ladies working. I had a mushrooms swiss burger with onion rings and it was less than $7. The onion rings were awesome, the burger was good but wish it had a little more meat so maybe go for a double. Hubs had the special from the board which didn't have a price on it. Turns out it was $12 for a chicken philly, fries and drinks. And sadly it just wasn't great. Chicken was very dry, fries were cold. So if you stop, stick with the burgers and ask for fresh fries or better yet go for the rings. read more

Great small town old fashion feel like your still in the 50's (ok I wasn't alive in the 50's but I'm sure this place was). I ate here under different ownership approx 25 years ago. Yeah, it's still there. I order the double cheese burger. It was so messy to eat. Every bit required a napkin to wipe the juices off your hands. This isn't a complain, this is a complement! It was even better than I expected. I also had a side of tater tots which I was only able to eat a couple due to my son eating them off my plate. We walked out with a chocolate milkshake. As soon as we pulled up, sweet car hop came right up immediately after taking the car to our rights order. Being from out of town, we had no idea what to order and she helped us look over the menu. It's obviously a popular spot for the locals. We ordered the Chicken Bacon Philly special with skinny fries & drink, an order of pickle chips, bacon cheeseburger and a small chocolate shake. The food was fresh, hot & delicious! You can't beat the bacon cheeseburger! Plenty of flavor on the pickle chips! The chocolate shake was perfect consistency and super creamy. And the grilled onions on the chicken bacon philly were the best! read more

When my brother said he was going to buy a drive-in in Pleasanton, Kansas I thought he had lost his marbles! It was a place that needed some serious TLC, but my brother saw hope for the little place and wanted to do big things with it. Well, fast forward a few years later, and I have to admit, he has done a SUPER job turning that place around!! He has cleaned it up, changed the menu, added so many different items to keep things new and exciting, and based on the calls and emails i get from him, he truly cares about that small town and its residents. I have had the pleasure of visiting Cookees twice on my trips to see my brother and his family. The first time I went I had to get a basic cheeseburger just to see what the talk was about, and I tell ya, it was a REALLY good burger! It was juicy, and the cheese was melted perfectly, the bacon was crispy, and the fresh lettuce and tomato placed on top combined with the soft hamburger buns made for a really great meal. The second time I went I had the Philly Cheese Steak, since my daughter had that on our first trip and said it was great. Well, she was right!! The girl that cooked it for me really knew what she was doing. The meat, the swiss cheese, the peppers all melted and mixed together in this meaty, cheesy, juicy goodness...and heaped onto this sub type roll was honestly the best Philly I have had to date! Seriously! I have tried Texadelphia and others here in Texas locally, but this one for some reason was just great! I washed it down with a refreshing Cherry Limeaid, and then I complimented the girl that cooked it for me, and told my brother that he really had a good thing going with that item. I am probably a tad bit bias, but I think Cookee's Drive-In is worth the stop if you want some good food, at a decent price! And be sure to stop in on the weekend, where you will find my brother and his wife most likely sitting on the picnic tables outside chatting with the customers. Seems like the only place open on Sunday! 10-7 Especially on Sundays you might want to phone in your order. Seemed quiet when we arrived, but all the locals phone in and pick up, therefore we waited longer than seemed natural. read more

For a small town, roadside stop, it was perfect! Hand-breaded fried pickles, tasty fries, good fish sandwiches (for Catholics on a Friday although the burger looked delicious!). Be prepared that you'll stand out like a sore thumb if you're from out of town, but it's a great place to stop on 69! read more

If you are traveling through Pleasanton there are several places you could eat at, but only one you should, Cookees. The burgers are exactly what a burger is meant to be, cooked on a flatop, grilled to perfection and absolutely delicious. Combine that with your choice of 5 different types of french fries and you have the perfect meal. I had the steak fries and they were hot, crispy and seasoned just right. Cookees also offers a nice variety of sandwiches and sides and monthly specials. When I was there they had the philly cheese steak which from the look of it would have made any native Philadelphian proud. You can also find ice cream treats along with awesome milk shakes. The one bad thing about cookees? It's 300+ miles away from me. If it was any closer I would be there every day. read more

Small town curb side service and great burgers...That's what we were told so we dropped in to give them a try. Sure enough, I barely had a chance to turn off the ignition and boom...a young lady at the window ready to take our order. Selected a vanilla shake, the Cookee Monster Burger and an order of tots. The burger was nicely cooked and arrived on Texas toast with all the toppings. I enjoyed the flavor although it could have used a little more seasonings. The shake was an average vanilla shake and tots we simply fried tots. We moved from our car to one of the outside picnic tables which all could have used a thorough mopping off of sticky substances. We would have moved inside but the music was loud and grungy so we knew we'd not enjoy it. Our service was thorough and attentive throughout a very pleasant person. read more

THE place to eat in Pleasanton. I have stopped by here half a dozen times and try something different each time, and have not been disappointed. The selection is really pretty extensive for the small establishment, and includes just about everything someone could expect for a little burger shack. The burgers are really good and cooked prettymuch to perfection. Everything is obviously freshly made. The service is excellent as well, food is always cooked and served in a very timely manner, and the drive up service really adds to the small town charm! I wish this place was closer to the town I live in. I absolutely love Cookee's Drive In! I always get a burger, and cottage fries with cheese. The prices are great, and I get so much food for not a lot of money! Waitresses are always nice and the service is quick. read more
