I lived in the area for about three months and ate here perhaps four or five times. I was never disappointed. The service was always friendly and fast. I tried something different each time. Was not impressed by the pizza burger. It wasn't bad, but it didn't taste like pizza at all. The other burgers I tried were awesome. I think I was most impressed with the sides, though. Anything fried, whether it be onion rings, tater tots, or fried mushrooms, was always perfect. And I mean PERFECT. I don't know what the secret is, but the batter never fell off my mushrooms or was soggy in any way. I love the fact that this is family owned since the 50s and operated out of an old trailer, like the old-timey 50s diners you see in movies. It's cute and quaint. Fantastic! Please support this family business. Stopped here for lunch on our way through town and received a very warm welcome, excellent menu recommendations, and very quick service. And let's not forget the food! The club burger was a combination I've never tried before and it was wonderful. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly and tasted just as good as, if not better, than the $18 "gourmet" wagyu burger I had the day before. Food is good and has some of the best burgers in town but a little pricey. Would recommend overall.

Second time eating here since we moved to Iola. Both meals have been great. Reminds me of the small grill diners. Hamburgers made fresh. We had the king hamburger and double bacon cheese burger. The buildings ambiance is spot on for what they offer, it's a genuine hometown burger stop. It will always be a little bit pricier than other places around here, however it's definitely worth the money. A big problem with restaurants around here is overwhelming menus they can't manage. King's menu is by far the easiest to choose from, it's small but they found what they do best and stick to it, anything you choose will be done to perfection. read more

While traveling, I like to support local businesses when possible. So, a friend of mine and I stopped in at King's for lunch during a road trip. It was the perfect example of a great small-town burger joint. Chris Grisier was running the place while we were there. He was friendly and efficient. He made good suggestions and was helpful. I had a bacon cheeseburger and tator tots, while my friend had the pizza burger and fries. I thought the cheeseburger was very good. Juicy and flavorful. Just like you'd expect in Kansas! The tator tots were good quality and nicely crisped. My friend liked his pizza burger and fries. Overall, it was a great lunch stop with great food. Our experience was ok, but the food had a couple of issues. Not being from around here, I thought (by the name of the restaurant) that it was more of a sandwich shop than a burger shop. As far as the burgers go, they were tasty. You could tell the meat patties were hand made, the onion rings were delicious. The hot dogs were very favorable, and was my favorite part of the meal. On the negative side, the burgers were very greasy, and the bacon was paper-thin. My recommendation would be to prepare the meat in a less greasy way, and to source a better quality bacon. Liked having a nice selection of sodas to choose from, and the customer service from the employees was phenomenal! This location was a nice stop on our way through Kansas. read more

I LOVE this little diner! The food is AMAZING and the staff is superb! The staff treats you outstanding and the food is out of this world! If you get the chance, stop by this rock and roll themed diner for their delicious burgers, specialty burgers, baskets and a wide variety of tasty sides!!! They don't have any desserts but you are so full after eating there that you don't miss dessert at all, but if you want some dessert after your wonderful meal then Dairy Queen is right next door. This restaurant is a real asset to our community. I wish they were open on Sunday, maybe from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., so that we could eat there after church. All the Yelp reviews brought us in. We thought that it was going to be a sandwich shop, wrong, lol! It is a burger joint. If you want it fried they make it. They make Club, Reuben, Pizza, every kind of burger that you can imagine. I was expecting a very thin "diner" style burger si I ordered a double. These patties were each a 1/2" thick. Why only three stars? The place was quaint but somewhat dirty and the burgers lacked taste. They've been there since the 50's so we must have gotten them on a bad day. Stopped at DQ next door for a generic burger and ice cream but they don't serve food at this DQ...low and behold, Kings is next door. DQ gals suggested it for great burgers. This place is one of those diner buger joints that's been around since the mid-fifties. They make a great burger!!! It's a big 1/2 pounder, and delicious on top of it. It gets pretty busy around lunch time, but it's worth the wait. Try the triple burger challenge. The decor is interesting. LPs of loverboy and other 80's bands are hung on the wall, and there is lots of Elvis and James Dean stuff, and there are the old table side jukeboxes (that don't work) at most of the tables against the walls. This is one of the few places that will still cook a hamburger from scratch to your liking. I ordered a small hamburger without a bun (I don't eat bread) and a side of fried okra. The burger was cooked to my liking perfectly and the okra was delicious....not greasy like some places. They have other items on the menu as well, but the burgers and okra are my fave. The only thing that is a disappointment the last time I was there was the old "crunchy ice" machine has broken and the new machine produces only large block ice :( read more
