That said, I was able to visit one of his pop up brunch locations which was near uptown at a rented location, believe it's called Little House on Routh. Parking was fairly easy and upon entering I was greeted by individuals who appeared to be working with him. This was my first popup and I was solo dolo, so it was nice to have faces/people directing you on where to go. To make it even better, he himself would step away from the kitchen to check on his guests from time to time. Followed up by asking what he can do to make our experiences even BETTER. If that's not great customer service, I don't know what it is. There were two brunch options, I went with the french toast + chicken sausage + potatoes. When choosing my meat, he did give the option of bacon or chicken sausage, which is a great substitute for those who don't eat pork. Not only was the food reasonably priced, mimosas were included in the price as well. I look forward to more events, which I normally learn about via instagram as it is frequently updated w/ events/contests to win food. Chef BJ does not disappoint when it comes to quality and service. At the pop ups, the meals were extremely well priced for what we ate. One was blackened catfish and grits and the other, chicken and waffles with potatoes. Both times there were complimentary mimosas, which is non-existent in Texas. His staff was very friendly and he made sure to check in on all the guests that came while we were eating. I've also had his jambalaya and Mac and cheese. Everything I've tried by him makes you freeze after that first bite cause it's just that good. All of the flavor combinations are perfect. If you ever need to have food catered for any event, Seasoned by Spiffy is definitely going to do right by you.

We received recipes and I do feel I may have enough to be able to re-create them at home, which is a goal of a cooking class. However, I did not know what to expect but nearly 60 students, sitting 40 feet from the demo, and several feet lower than the "stage" was not it. I arrived 15 minutes before the class start time and could only get a seat on the second from the last row. I am hard of hearing and with (rude) conversations going on behind me, and no speaker system to carry the voices, it was impossible to get enough to really feel like I had a personal experience. It was more like a distant professor in a lecture hall with no overhead projection and who has seated his favorite students on the front row. There were errors in the recipes, Chef hand carried morsels of food to his pet guest, the same guest he was so busy chatting with that the class started late. And one of the biggest unpleasant surprises was the venue. It is hosted at Food Saved Me in Southlake. Prior to the class I PAID for, I got to hear a 15 minute commercial on how Saladmaster Cookware cures cancer, my cookware is undoubtedly toxic, and the owners are opening a CBD shop nearby, please stop in for a discount good today only (in the best timeshare salesperson fashion). Don't judge but I love a good Saladmaster Cookware demo, I always stop by at the Fair, but I do not pay for it. Basically, I paid $73.06 for no meaningful, well really no contact with the Chef, no real cooking experience, an infomercial, and a tepid lunch tinged with disappointment (but which still tasted great).

You can be produce, including herbs, all sorts of drinks, dips, meats, cheeses, frozen meals, etc. i tried a fresh BAT with their house made ciabatta and it was so yummy. The jalapeno pimento cheese dip was so good. I cant wait to go back and try more items! Today they were sampling a champagne and aged gouda which were both delish and if you spent over $50 you got a free block of cheese. This is a true gem in the heart of oak cliff and i will be back for groceries and gifts. I cant wait until i have more room in my fridge/freezer to try some of the meals and pastas. So knowing that I was at a school I didn't rate this lower as there were many hiccups during this visit. I'll start off by saying that I had a Groupon and it required making reservations and that was no easy task. I called multiple days, leaving multiple messages before someone finally called me back. We arrived at the restaurant and we were seated rather quickly. We were given a menu, told what the meal of day was and started off with drink selections. The waitress, who never gave us her name, came back with our drinks and we placed our orders. The only draw back was she let us know that they may be out of this or that without first checking. The meal started with an amuse bouche, which was described as fried risotto. I asked what kind of risotto is it (mushroom, cheese, etc) which she replied she didn't know (and made no effort to finding out). I shrugged that off and waited for the appetizer. When it arrived it was a fried ball on top of a tomato sauce. After a bite or two I realized that this was cold. I asked the waitress how was this to be served and she said hot, I explained it wasn't and she apologized as she took my plate away (no replacement). Next course was salad, in which I chose the Cesar salad. This wasn't what I was expecting but I made it work. The croutons were extremely hard, the salad was overdressed and the dressing had a strong vinegar taste in which I wasn't able to eat all of that. She also brought 3 rolls to the table (for the two of us) along with a garlic butter. Sadly the rolls were cold so that was another miss on the score card. After sitting there and watching other diners who came in after us, the waitress came to let us know that they forgot to call our order so it would be out shortly. The entree was a pork tenderloin, which the waitress only mentioned coming on top of spaetzle, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was asparagus and zucchini on the plate. The plate itself needed some finesse, I was surprised by the small meat portion (that actually tasted really good), the spaetzle was warm where the tenderloin was but the rest was cold, the asparagus and zucchini was cooked very well. The dessert - we had an option between an opera cake (which was described as a tiramisu) or a lemon raspberry tart. Went with the tart and although it was pretty, the description was off. This came out like a slice of cake, the raspberry was a gel that was on top and between the layer (and lacked flavor) and the lemon was tart and needed to be balanced more. For what I paid, it was a decent meal, but we got lots of things that need to be worked on. The waitress let us know that it was the students 3rd day in the kitchen and that they were overwhelmed due to an unexpected event taking place at the school. Although I understand that, it shouldn't be the reason for cold food and lack of knowledge about the food from the server.

Came here for lunch with work colleagues as part of a work retreat. They have a great selection of food and incredibly reasonable prices. I started with the soup of the day, which was gumbo and very tasty. For my entree, I had the salmon. It was cooked well and had a nice balsamic glaze, but could have used more taste. The service was eager and helpful, and everyone enjoyed their meal. I do plan to return, as this is definitely a place I want to support.
