He repeated what he did and the compressor turned on. We did wait to see if everything worked which it did. He appeared to be in a hurry, and said that there was nothing more he could do. 3 years ago, Cool It Heat It installed a new AC unit for our home when our AC completely went out. They were extremely unprofessional - cussing at each other all day, unfriendly, and they completely tore apart our attic without any courtesy to clean it up or at least let us know. Additionally, ever since the install, our AC has had a rotten smell every time we run it. Fast forward to this week, our AC suddenly stopped working a few days ago and we had a different company come out because we were unhappy with the service we received from this company 3 years ago. Not surprisingly, we discovered that Cool It Heat It installed the fan incorrectly, so the AC has been blowing the hot air down instead of up. Yesterday 8/31/23, I noticed that my A/C outside unit was not running. I saw that the breaker had tripped off. I flipped it back on and the unit just made a humming sound but did not start so I switched it off. I called Caine Forbes of "Cool it Heat" it who I had used back in 2016 and luckily he was still in business after COVID, but I called him at 7 AM and he had another job first but he came out at 1 pm same day and he diagnosed the problem and repaired the A/C and was gone at 1:30 pm so I now have a cool house again. After about two months of trying to get my Nest thermostat to work, we were informed we needed to have a HVAC company come out. My home warranty company referred us to Cool It Heat It. After an administrative goof up, the technician arrived 50 minutes late. The individual that came was cordial, nice, and knew what he was doing. He said he would need to drill some holes in the walls and do some rewiring...we weren't expecting that but said hey, if we have to do it, thats fine, we'll figure it out. After calling Kane (?), I was quoted $380. I said that was too much and we agreed to $300. Maybe I was expecting more, but 30 minutes later, the issue was fixed. Not entirely sure if I was duped, however, I spoke to the owner (Kane?)of Cool It Heat It about this and asked if we could revisit the agreed upon amount. Unfortunately, I was met with a lot of sass and attitude. I understand that I already agreed to the amount and a verbal agreement is as good as a signature. Nonetheless, I wasn't expecting 30 minutes for the technician to complete the job. After communicating to Kane (?) that I wasn't too thrilled about his tone with me, he admitted that he was frustrated from other jobs going wrong and that he would take a step back. Great - lets start from the beginning. "So are their considerations that we can make?" I was met with a similar response and this is when I became frustrated. I communicated to Kane that it isn't about the money, but more so the principle and that he needed to back (the f*&^) up. I empathized about having a frustrating day, thats fine, we all have those days. I gave him my credit card and said charge what you want. Am I likely to ever call them back? To refer them to others? My AC / Heating / Furnace was on it very last legs as it was original equipment for my house. As an engineer I did my homework and examined all the brands / features and costs. I then had 6 different companies come to my house and provide quotes. I needed a 3 ton unit but really did not want to pay more then I had to (who does.. right..?) Our insurance company put Cool It Heat It in touch with us as our AC unit was leaking. The guy that Cane sent out to us took some tape off a pipe in our AC unit and realized that there was a leak. He asked me to run the AC unit and sure enough about 10 minutes after it had been on, it started leaking. He told me that this would be a plumbing issue and that we needed a plumber instead of him. He closed the hatch on the AC unit and went on his way. About 6.5 hours after he left, my floor was soaked with water. He never did cover the crack in the pipe back up and just from running our AC for those 10 minutes, caused another major leak. I spoke to Cane the next morning where he told me, "Of course it is going to leak when you run the AC." I told him I only had it on when his guy was here and that we turned it off when it started leaking. In a sarcastic and rude tone, he told me "Good job". He seemed to think I was continuing to run the AC (when I knew better than that). He was rude, sarcastic, and belittling. I work in the customer service industry too and this is not how you treat others. Unfortunately, when you go through your insurance, you have no choice as to who you get to service your house. At the height of the 2015 hot spell, our 25 year old combined furnace/central AC unit finally died. As a large unplanned for expense, I got several estimates from different contractors ranging from a major national retailer to a highly advertised local company. Each contractor recited a list of reasons why our job was more difficult, time consuming, and expensive than I had anticipated. I was utterly disheartened by the prices I was quoted, and the length of time it would take for them to get to our job. On recommendation from a co-worker, I called Heat It Cool It. Caine came out the same day and gave me an firm price substantially lower than even the lowest quote I'd previously received. In addition, he promised to start the job at 7:00 o'clock the very next morning. At 7:00 AM the next day, on the dot, Caine's crew showed up and the removal of the old AC unit began.
