Three companies were asked to give me bids for replacement of my 25+ yr old system. One did not inspect the furnace's heat exchanger, saying he didn't want to move such a good looking furnace! His bid stated that it did not include the cost of permits to replace the ac. Another bidder did not bring any diagnostic equipment, but was very ready to come back to repair or replace the ac and would at that time inspect the furnace. His bid for replacing the ac did not even mention the need for permits. And then, there's Straight Shooter. They were already my service company and at check up time, Rich was concerned about the refrigerant level. He asked to come back on a warmer day to be sure the cold had not given a false reading. Rich also suggested it was time to find out if the aging system needed replacement due to some others signs. I asked him to arrange that, so Scott came the same day Rich returned. At that time, a crack was found in the furnace heat exchanger. Also, it was determined the ac refrigerant loss was so significant, repair would be too costly, especially for the ac's age. Scott kindly spent enough time with me explaining options that I had clarity about them. Just a few days later Eric, Dillon and Forest installed a heat pump that does both jobs! I am well pleased. For my consultation visit, I was notified the technician would be arriving late a few mins before my original window ended. I was not provided with a new estimated time of arrival and just had to wait around. The technician ended up coming by over an hour later. I had to leave work early for this consultation and was treated as an afterthought. My technician was very friendly and informative, which I appreciated and is the only positive I have about my experience. I ended up signing a quote for duct cleaning while he was still there and I was sent an email confirmation immediately. After a month of waiting for someone to reach out to me to schedule my duct cleaning, I emailed them to invalidate the signed quote since I hadn't heard a peep from them. The response I received said that they have no records of a signed quote from me and that they called and left a voicemail. I didn't receive a call or voicemail. I'm not sure what is wrong with their system or procedures, but my overall experience with this company is negative and unprofessional. read more

We did not call them, we did not authorize work to be done, and they did not come out to our house for any reason, on or about this date. This is unprofessional and will be noted. This will be resolved. Update: Ken (one of the managers) contacted me in response to the fraudulent charge. He explained to me that his company had made a critical error and he apologized. I went to Straight Shooter looking for a second opinion when another local company's assessment was going to cost me thousands. I was scheduled and back to running within 24 hours... all during one of our hottest weeks. First off, let me just make sure I mention that Aaron M. went above and beyond to make sure my ac/heater were working right before the homeowner inspection. So originally, it was just going to be a typical yearly maintenance and I had looked up on Thumbtack to find a company that can come out asap to get it out of the way. Straight Shooter reached out promptly and got the appointment for next day. Aaron came out and inspected the attic. He was very honest and not trying to upsell me and gave me different options to go about it. I truly appreciate Aaron for speaking to my realtor afterward to get her thoughts on what she and I should do. The fact he was happily to explained it again to my realtor as well is appreciated. The price he gave us was beyond reasonable!! Can't put a price on making sure your home is safe. Especially with smaller children Straight Shooter was able to get their guys to come out the day after. I'm still trying to wrap my head how that evaporator coil was able to get up in the attic with that small space. Lol but they did it!! But they came across a problem and Aaron literally came out at 7pm that evening for two hours to try to figure it out. Exceptionally pleased Straight Shooter. They showed up and saved the day. While I was out of town on vacation my tenant had issues with the AC intermittently failing during a heat wave and it was becoming a medical issue. The company who I had bought it from was always slow to respond, requiring days for service calls to just take a look at it, and they had broken it during past maintenance. When they told us it would be days until they could come out, I went looking for a company that would show up when we most needed them. Straight shooter came through for us, coming out the next morning and worked the entire day until it was completely fixed. I needed a solution on how i could re-route the duct work in my kitchen ceiling so I could eliminate my ceiling soffit and install ceiling cabinets. The situation was challenging due to the direction of the ceiling joists and location of where the ducting dropped down from the second story. From the start when I spoke with Michael upon viewing my home for upgrading my furnace which had gone out, and adding A/C to my 60yr old home they Eric, Ray and Dylan all were competent in their ability to get it done. Love Straight Shooter Heating and Air! I've been a customer for a couple years and have always been given outstanding advice. They don't over sell or make you feel like you have to fix things when you don't, which makes me want to keep doing business. In fact, they are straight up honest about what you should do, could do, and could postpone. And I recommend you get their plan for the 6 month checkups! It's really worth it. I would have already given a 5 star rating but last week, my AC went out. I live in Santee and it was 91 outside. It was late in the evening and knew I wouldn't be able to get an appointment but called to get the soonest which wasn't going to be until the next day.
