Apparently the banks took it over and the quality has diminished. The $20 car wash left my car with more water spots and soap residually then when I took it in. There's a really good car wash on oyster point road next to City of Newport News operations center. Run by hispanics. They do a wonderful job. read more

My passenger side mirror was ripped off during the wash and found in the car wash. Despite how the damage obviously occurred staff advised the breakage was not their problem because my well maintained and properly serviced vehicle was over 10 years old. My mirrors do not jut out, and over the years none of my cars have ever sustained damage. Despite my effort to resolve the matter civilly with the establishment, they refused to take any responsibility causing me to have to file an insurance claim. I've used the other local car washes for years with no problems! Breakage will cost about $231 out of pocket because repair is less than my deductible! read more

For a newish car wash it's out of service to often. This used to be a really cool experience that the kids like going to. These days, you're lucky if the tire shine even works. I think it may be managed by different people from when it first opened. They said they are no longer associated with the express Wash locations. read more

So I thought it was brushless but no and not really their fault. I got the full service. I won't likely be back. The car was clean no problem. But the cleaning system just beats the cr*p out of the car. They hit the windshield hard enough I thought it might break. It didn't but I don't like how it works, the other location on Warwick has a completely touchless bay. The other part was the kid waving at me to hurry and get to the track (another thing I don't like), but then a guy I guess was the boss came running out and pointing at me to back up all the while pointing at me and yelling as if I decided to be to close to the car in front. Maybe train the KID or fire him if he didn't do what you trained him to do. I give them two stars for a clean car and free vacuum. However the vacuums don't suck very well. My shop vac is better and the Warwick location vacuums are very good. read more

Always a quick and good wash- I recommend getting one of their unlimited wash passes. I find that even if I take my car just once a week the monthly is a good deal. They do give you a free vacuum pass each time (10 minutes in length) when I am busy I just save the pass for the next time. They are good for 30 days so you can do that when you don't have the time or the vacuum area is too busy. Another reason I like the monthly member pass is when there is a line of cars you do pull up and it feels like you get through sooner. No ha I g to swipe your card and reach out - I have short arms so that can be a bit for me lol. read more

Pros:the car was washed & I got a free 10min vacuum,the guy helped me briefly clean off a window or 2 Cons:misleading holiday experience which consisted of green & red lights flashing inside the drive thru and a video of Santa Clause smiling. I'm not understanding where the "holiday light show" experience was but this definitely was not a quality experience. My elementary school aged daughter wasn't excited at all. It wasn't much too see. -my car was very poorly washed (you can still see plenty of dirt all over my car) -vacuums are a joke and do not have a good suction and you are better off using a battery operated hand held vacuum -the guys there don't dry off the car or anything (they only guide you thru which isn't really needed if you know how to read and can see) -worst automatic car wash I ever went too in my entire life -save your money and get an actual detail or go to a better automatic car wash -20$ plus $10 gas gone done the drain................................. read more

The facility looks pretty nice, but the car wash is terrible even if you pay the price your wheels come out looking terrible. I've tried to give this place multiple tries but regardless, I'm always disappointed you always see a bin to return the dirty towels, but I can never seem to find where the towels are or even who to ask. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS CAR WASH! the wash malfunctioned and smashed into my Jeep rocking the whole Vehicle while inside and causing Damage. I immediately went outside and inspected the damage got a manager and reported it. I was told after a 4 month run around and no call backs that my 2017 jeep wrangler with a BRAND NEW wrap (fully allowed to go through car washes) that cost 5k was to old and they are not doing anything about the damages and to essentially take them to court. Long story short it's left scratches/damages from the front door to behind the passenger doors. I was told after months they aren't responsible for it because it's old... (my insurance and the city has the truck listed at 45k) literally the most disrespectful experience I've ever dealt with at a company monthsss of running around trying to talk to people getting quotes for the damages just to be told ahh screw you if I don't agree get a lawyer (I was very respectful in alllll communication even with the months of being ran around and bullshitted..... read more

I ran my car through twice and the bug splatter on the front window and the front of the car was still there. I saw that it said bug scrub which is what I paid for but there was no scrub involved. Three stars because the staff is very friendly and accommodating however, what's up with the bug splatter? I can't pay that much money and the stains are still there. Maybe there was an error or something? The theme is very cool, the car came out great and shiny besides the front of the car and the very back is still dirty as well. It just sucks that I have to scrub the front myself or go to another car wash and pay the bug scrub fee again. read more

Don't sign up for any plans at Coolwave Washplex on Jefferson Ave in Newport News, unless you want to be ripped off. In July 2023, I visited Coolwave Washplex in Newport News, VA. The agent at your Jefferson Ave location told me that for $14.99 I would be allowed to use the car wash again for the next 30 days at no additional charge. I explicitly asked if there would be a recurring monthly charge. The agent assured me that it was a one-time charge, and no recurring charges would be applied. I made it clear that I wasn't interested in a plan with a monthly recurring charge. I friend was with me and recalls the conversation the same way. In September 2023, I noticed the recurring charge on my bank statement. I printed out the charges, went down to the car wash, and explained my problem to the agent working there. They took my print out and told me it would be taken care of and the unauthorized charge refunded. Today I noticed that I have been charged ten times for this plan that I did not sign up for. I politely requested that they issue a full refund, after providing documentation of the unauthorized charges. They offered to return only half of the money they took without permission. As far as I am concerned, that is robbery. read more

The $14 car wash is very basic. The rims are not getting cleaned at all and for the vacuum you only get 10 minutes which is obviously not enough. I'm comparing this 1:1 with the $14 car wash from Sam's Express which is a great value for the price; this one for Cool Wave is a three star service for the same price. Complied with the receipt stated policy but they refused to refund the auto payment, even after showing them it was stated as 3 days on the receipt. They get no more of my money. read more

The selling point for me at a car wash is always the vacuum. I had found a good one in Virginia Beach, but this one is amazing! I have a dirty little Westie and a car with lots of crevices, and this vacuum solved my problem. Very little need to use a lint roller on my mats. Plus, there's a mat washer!! read more

Review 3 of 2021: It's a themed car wash....enough said. I watched them build this place for a while so when I drove by and saw that they were open and had a Dracula's Lair theme I immediately turned in. It's an automated drive thru so the quality of the wash is what I would expect from a drive thru car wash. One glaring flaw is that there are no dryers and they opened in winter so your car doesn't really just dry off when you're done. The wash comes with a vacuum voucher and there are self service vacuums you can use after your wash. If you just need a vacuum you can pull-up and pay for that a la carte. The staff seems friendly which is a plus. I took advantage of the $10 for 30 days membership so I'm going to check out some of their other themes too (they change on Friday). read more

This carwash confirmed my skepticism about all automated car washes in general, tenfold. To all reading this: I highly suggest you never use an automated car wash, ESPECIALLY this one. I made the mistake of using this washplex for a quick wash before taking a trip, and their wash ended up shifting/pushing my Jeep mid-wash, and ripping my rear license plate holder off the body of my vehicle altogether. Apparently, this is a recurring issue that happens often at this car wash, as I was told by associates after I pointed out the damage minutes after I completed the carwash. They had to stop the wash to retrieve my plateholder and upon doing so, I immediately filed a report and was told they would review footage to confirm the damage and then reimburse me for the broken part by cutting me a check upon conclusion. They reviewed the footage, acknowledged the damage but ultimately refused to reimburse me for the damage citing bogus signage that is irrelevant to any vehicle. It seems as if this carwash and management are content, and even take satisfaction, in denying blatant damage to your vehicle. I'm sure they'll combat this review with some bogus response, but please know it is just that - bogus. Stay away. read more

Heard about how awesome the light show is in this car wash, with a new theme every week or so. We were curious to check it out. It was extremely disappointing. Throughout the car wash there was one sequence of three or four different colored lights. We kept waiting for the "show" to start...it never did. Why there was a "theme" at all was a complete mystery, as all there were were a few colored lights. Free vacuuming came with. Two vacuums are available for each car. One of ours did not work. The wash did clean our car well. However, it was expensive. Cost too much for what we received. The "theme" 'is a joke. We will not be returning. read more

Brought my wife's car in the other day, there was no theme like there usually is, just some pictures of some aliens at the end, and that's what you're primarily paying for. Came out of the wash and half the car was covered in soap, I brought it to a staff member's attention and he just said I can use some towels to take care of it, the Mega Auto Spa wash up the street would have rewashed it for me. Soap on paint like that not being properly rinsed leaves marks on the paint. Overall very disappointing, especially for an $18 dollar wash. Wouldn't recommend. read more

This car wash is rarely impressive. It's jets or brushes are often not working. The app doesn't work a lot of the time. Even if it does work, the vacuum code is never provided with the membership as advertised. I've brought this the the staffs attention and they always give me a voucher and explain, it just doesn't work right. This is inconvenient and has been going on for months. One employee told me to cancel our membership and then sign up again. I might cancel but I don't about signing back up. I like the place but I hate the reliability. read more

They are having a big promotion offering .99 cent car washes. I thought I'd try them out. When you pull in they tell you the special is only valid if you sign up for a monthly membership. Tricked me into pulling in and I'm sure they are tricking tons of other people also. Bad first impression. Stopped by here today to get the long winter's grime off our vehicle, they have several types of washes and other services available, ranging from 8 to 18 dollars depending on what you want, ( 23 dollars a month for unlimited washes) sounds good huh? Well l chose the $18.00 choice, and our car came out fairly clean, and free vacuuming coupon. I left the facility with a bent front license plate, l bent it back in shape, later on l noticed that the rubber gasket on the front left section of my windshield was missing, it was there prior to my car wash. It may seem unfair that l didn't return and complain about this issue, and l would have if I hadn't left the facility before discovering the rubber gasket missing from the windshield. But the employees weren't very helpful on matters of telling us to place our side mirrors inwards to avoid damage, the woman that guided us into the washing area said nothing at all to us. It may be presumptive of us to claim that the damage occurred during the washing process, but they would have denied it anyway. So l wouldn't recommend it to anyone that values their vehicle. read more
