The only liquor store I go to. The owners/managers are always extremely nice. The store is clean, organized and well lit. Unlike other stores, every item is clearly labeled so no fun price surprises at the cash register. They have a very good selection of beer, and if they don't have what you're looking for, they will order it for you! They also gave me a 10% discount for ordering a case. The Belgian beer I get is 5 cents more across the street at Trader Joes (big whoop) but the 20 minutes Of peace I gain by not having to venture into that madness and wait in line is priceless:) plus trader joe's only has but 1 flavor. read more

So I wasn't prepared for this experience... I found out about their "free wine tasting" after googling "things to do in Boston" so I thought it would be a cool activity to do while in the area. I was picturing maybe a small private room with some chairs and a few bottles of wine for tasting. Well we got there and we realized it was just a liquor store, their tasting took place in a little corner by the register on a small plastic table and consisted of one red and one white bottle of wine. The little shpiel about the wine and the tasting itself took maybe 2 or 3 minutes total. Not really quite what we had in mind. Probably not worth the 45-minute trek across town but on a positive note, we did find a great little Asian fusion restaurant/bar/lounge that made the trip worth it. And on the other hand, if I lived in this neighborhood, I'm sure this would be a really great place to pick up a bottle of wine or other "spirit" on the way home to match with dinner. read more

I have to say, living in San Diego has spoiled me when it comes to weather and craft beer. I had to find some holiday brews for a party and had a moment of panic when I realized that unlike San Diego, I can't just pop into a CVS or any grocery store to pick something up. So, I walked to Trader Joes, but wasn't blown away by their selection. I yelped the nearest liquor store (it's 30 degrees outside so distance was crucial!). Luckily, I found this lovely shop, which was just across the street. This place has a pretty great selection of craft beer (along with lots of wine). Prices are roughly $10-$12 for a six pack. The person at the register was really nice and helpful. They have a wide variety of beers from both local breweries and others. I was definitely pleased with what I saw. Smuttynose, Lagunitas, Stone, Ballast Point, etc. Go here and drink good beer. read more

What can I say about a business that is supposed to give $1.28 in change and only gives $1.25, assuming that the three cents are insignificant enough to keep from the customer? To add insult to injury, when I called them out on it, I was given just two cents. I went back to the counter and they shrugged their shoulders, telling me they only had two cents in the till. It's not so much the amount of money, but the cavalier disrespect given to the customer. Shame on this business for their poor attitude. read more

Well, they have an ok selection, but hardly any cold sparkling (and what is there is $$$$$$...I see where they're going with that...). However, the rest of the store is really interesting with some unique finds. The staff wasn't super helpful and basically were all chatting with each other, but since I knew what I wanted, it wasn't an issue. Price-wise, there is a big range, which is nice. I am a transplant from California, and this has been my go-to wine and liquor store since I moved to Brookline three years ago. Not because the wine selection is huge (it's not), but because the staff is amazing. They have a decent number of carefully selected wines from winegrowing regions around the world, and I really appreciate that they don't just go for the big names. This is the only wine store in Boston where I have found Bogle's Phantom, and when I bought several bottles last year I had a great conversation about the less well known wine regions in California. When I'm looking to try something new, I go straight to the staff and let them know what I'm looking for, and so far they have been pretty spot on in their assessments of the wines. I foresee continuing to shop here as long as I live in the area. As a side note, my dog also likes this store because they usually keep dog treats behind the counter. ;-) read more

I love this little place. I really like that the Saturday free wine tastings are in the evening. Some stores have them in the afternoons, but let's face it--I'd rather stop in and taste from free wine in the evening/late afternoon and then pick out a bottle of wine to take directly to whatever dinner party I was on my way to. The staff here are very easygoing and helpful, and the selection is reall great--thoughtful and intelligent. Really great selection of craft beers and wines from all over. You can get a cheaper six pack at trader joes, but im a huge proponent of supporting the local businesses. The guy and lady there when i shopped were nice, helpful. The guy helped me pick out a bottle of cab for a gift to a party and i also got a bottle of whispering angel for another brunch party. There's a reason GPS is packing up and moving. That reason is CCW. Coolidge Corner Wine and Spirits is conveniently located at the Coolidge Corner T stop. Walking inside on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening will you get you a free wine tasting. Typically, 3 wines are served in a logical order by a knowledgeable wine connoisseur. The selection of CCW is also great. They have everything from the only good vodka, (in my opinion, Karlsson's Gold), to the great belgians produced by Goose Island Brewing co. in Chicago: Sofia, Mathilda and Pere Jaques. And if they don't have what you want, they'll order it for you. Just stop in! read more

I want something delicious and for a beer preferably cold. all of the craft and specialy bottle beers that they have ore cold for you which is not that common. Although they are a bit high priced, becuase they are not a alcohol Wal-Mart, this place is very friendly and accomodating for my particular tastes. read more

Coolidge Corner Wine & Spirits makes the most of its real estate. They have as good of a selection of beer, wine and liquor as you could ask for in a neighborhood liquor store. If the beer you're picking up is warm on the shelf, don't worry, there's probably another bottle chilling in the back fridge that they'll offer you. The service is friendly and knowledgeable -- I've never failed to be greeted and helped with a smile. The staff enjoys working here and it shows. It's all good in my book. For a while, this was the closest place to my apartment that sold beer. Hiking here from Brookline Village was a pain, but the folks in the store were friendly, knowledgeable, and had a surprisingly large selection for a space that looks pretty small from the outside. They had good suggestions for liquors, which I don't drink that often, and when I needed to get a friend a gift, they had some great stuff ready to go. Brookline needed a good liquor store in Coolidge Corner, and this place certainly fits the bill. Hope they stick around for a long, long time. read more

I didn't look around thoroughly since I was only picking up beer. BUT. It looked as though there was an enormous wine section one would actually want to get lost in. Their beer selection was also excellent, I grabbed Leif (hellz yes). The girl at the counter was really cute and friendly, we both bemoaned the cold after being teased by warm weather. Minus one star for the wine tasting blocking half of the beer. I suppose they need to do it somewhere, but there should really be an empty spot blocked out for the weekly occasion. read more

They do such a good job that I walked in on their opening day and thanked them for opening. When I moved to coolidge corner this space was occupied by the worst liquor store I had ever seen. The aisles were comprised by stacked beer cubes, the lighting was dark and the entire atmosphere made you sad to be buying alcohol... that bad! Several months after that closing CCWS opened a classy option in the space. The staff here is the nicest I have ever met and they are crazy knowledgeable about everything. The owner and his partner will often work the store themselves. The coolest part of this place is they keep a suggestion book and pick the best/most requested items to add to their repertoire so feel free to chat them up! read more

The gentleman at the register immediately stood up, greeted me, and walked around the counter and asked if I needed help finding something. He helped me find the liquor I needed and rang me up while keeping up the customer service. Great experience. The exterior screams generic liquor store but it is so much more than that. They have a decent wine and spirit selection and the staff has excellent.. However, their beer selection exceeded all expectations. Brookline usually is a bottle shop waste land but CCWS has a great selection. These guys are great. The store is a nice local beer, wine, and liquor store. I am mostly a beer drinker, so my experience with them has been almost exclusively in purchasing beer and my review focuses on that. The store is small, but the selection of beer is good relative to their size. They have a good variety of American craft breweries and quality international beers, as well as some standard big-name beers. The prices here can be a dollar or two more than you might find for the same beer elsewhere, but it varies beer to beer. One small but especially nice customer service touch that the staff add is to ask you if you would like them to get you a chilled version of any beer that you are purchasing room temp off the shelf. They have always been friendly and talkative any time I have visited. If you are a regular here you won't often see great variation in the selection beyond standard seasonal changes. This could be a plus or a minus depending on your point of view, but I would like to be surprised once in a while. Bottom line: if you live nearby, definitely consider them among your top beer-buying destinations. Their wine and liquor selection appears on par with the beer too. If you are not nearby but you're having trouble finding a particular beer, they are definitely worth calling to see whether it is part of their supply. read more

It was like coming upon a beer oyster; all you need is one bad one to ruin the whole lot; Good selection of wines, although I could've done without the eye rolling when they came up to me when a particular gentleman asked me for "help." When we told him that we neither knew what was being served for dinner (we were shopping for a party) and asked him if he had middle-of-the-road suggestions for either white, red, or dessert wine, he sighed and said there wasn't enough to go off of and left it at that. Luckily, the store prints out descriptions of some of the wines and we went away with a red blend- no thanks to the stoic storekeeper. That being said, the rest of the staff is genial, and the key to the store is that they keep a GOOD selection over a DEEP selection of wine and spirits. That I can appreciate. read more

Reasonably ok selection of wine, liquor & beers relative to liquor stores in the area, especially of beer 22 oz bottles. Been in there a few times and find it generally somewhat overpriced though. Was particularly disappointed during my most recent visit that they had a sign saying "all varieties of BBC 22oz bottles $4.50" (surprised me that they would have such a good deal) yet when I went to the counter only one was the right price and the rest were almost $6. I pointed this out and the cashier said she couldn't do anything about it since the owner wasn't around. While it's not a huge price difference, the principle (bad customer service/losing a customer's trust/violation of MA laws on honoring advertised prices) is more costly. Not going back until they improve their business practices. read more

Store refused to accept my 4 empty bottles of beer I had purchased two weeks ago because they stated they did not carry that brand and even if they did, they did not charge me the deposit in the first place which they are obliged by law to do. I walked them over to the product that they indeed did sell but they still would not give me the refund due on the empty bottles. Both associates stated the same thing to me. read more

I've probably driven/walked by here hundreds of times without thinking to go inside. I decided to go here on a whim to pick up some beers, not wanting to make the trip out to Marty's or Martignetti's.This store has a wide selection of domestic craft/microbrews and imported beers. They had a few featured beers which is a good to sign to show that they are always changing things up. For such a small store, they also have a wide variety of liquors that make this place worth coming to again and again. Brookline doesn't have a huge selection of top-notch liquor stores, making this a new favorite of mine. read more
