    Pork & Chicken jerk combo
    Kevin W.

The food at CoolRunnings is absolutely delicious, the service is fantastic. The flavours that cool runnings is dishing out is something to be sought after. We had the daily soup, the beef patties. They were fantastic! Flavourful and great! Then we had the Chicken and Pork jerk combo.served with rice and beans and a salad. Wow the flavours and ACTUAL Jerk flavour! Completely delicious the right amount of heat with the perfect amount of flavour. Wow it was fantastic. The rice and beans were properly cooked, the meat was delicious, well seasoned and the jerk sauce was nice and spicy. The customer service was great, family run place with all the right things happening.

We came on a weekday evening and we were the only table at that time. Service was friendly though…read morewe were left alone the majority of the meal except when they server came by to take our order and get our bill. Other than that, no one really checked up on us though some people (owners? employees?) did walk by. Food was tasty though we both found the jerk chicken and shrimp salty (it was a bit spicy for me but that's just my tolerance). For around $25 for my dish after tax and tips, I can't say I left completely satisfied. I like supporting local businesses and would recommend trying though!

I really wanted to love this place more then I did. I originally just wanted a Coco bread and patty…read moresandwich. However, it appeared you could not put the two together when ordering and the server (I think) was extremely nice but she had to go back and ask with every order. It was weird since it showed on the website you could get a beef patty and coco bread. In the end I ended up getting a patty in a coco bread but it was so complicated to order. My husband got the same thing and an order of Johnny cakes with the Mango butter. The best thing about the whole experience was the Johnny Cakes and the mango butter. It was truly the mango butter that had me bring a smile to my face. If I could, I would of slathered the whole butter in the Johnny cakes. When it comes to the beef patty, my husbands was warm yet mine was ice cold in the middle. Clearly microwaved I would assume. In the end it was just an okay experience if that. I would like to see more consistency with the menu and the knowledge of it and the promise of fresh made food being true. It sure didn't taste like that with the patty.

I think this might one of my favorite dog friendly restaurants in Vancouver! Every single person on Havana's team is wonderful, friendly and super understanding. A warm, friendly, super welcoming, vibrant and wonderful environment place to be on a rainy day with the most delicious crispy perfect fish tacos and sangria!

We tried: Happy hour Cubano - I appreciated it that it was not greasy, and wasn't a goopy mess of mayo like other ones I've had. I think I would like a bit more meat in it, but overall it was good. Happy hour burger - it was actually pretty good. The bun was fresh, the veggies crisp, and the patty was a good smash burger with nice flavour. If I were ordering it again, I would ask for an extra patty, as the meat gets a bit lost with everything in the burger. Happy hour chips & salsa - we added guacamole to our order. The salsa was very bland. We both doused each chip we ate with the very mild hot sauce they brought to the table. The chips were good. Happy hour beers - both the house lime lager and ale were tasty. The Cuban old fashioned - my friend enjoyed her drink. I thought it was too sweet. Santa Clara sling - it was good, but needed more acidity and was sweet. Classic pineapple daiquiri - good but needed more lime. I appreciated that while it wasn't on the menu, they made it for me and only charged me $10 during happy hour! Guava margarita slush - it was actually pretty good but a bit too sweet for us. We fixed that by adding a couple of extra shots of tequila to it. The place got very busy by 5:30pm, and the atmosphere was lively and staff were great. I think my main quibble is that the drinks and food menu seems to think it's mostly a Mexican restaurant, which is why I'm only giving it 3 stars.

Still amazing flavours, great prices and amazing personality owner and chef Tommie. The instant you get there you feel like you are reuniting with a friend after so many years!tp I didn't get to take a photo of our food cause we devoured it pretty quick, but we shared a chicken jerk burrito and their Jamaican beef patty, which is one of their new products that they introduced. We also got the pineapple lemonade and mango iced tea. Everything was so good! The jerk was flavorful and the spice slowly kicked in each time we ate. But that is what Jamaican food is all about! I loved everything about it and you must check out this gem in CLOVERDALE on Fridays and Saturdays

On one occasion, we also drove there in person and no one had come out to the area (a little industrial and deserted). When we finally got an order through one day - we had gotten the Jamaican jerk beef burrito (so spicy!), Jamaican jerk chicken burrito (my favourite), Jamaican jerk chicken nachos (not quite what we expected - Doritos and cheese) and Jamaican strawberry lemonade. It was an okay meal overall and maybe we were just unlucky with our ordering dilemma but you can tell he does have happy customers so I would try again but maybe not in a total heartbeat. EDIT: sorry forgot to add - I did really enjoy the chicken burrito! It was filling and seemed like different seasoning/spice than the beef and paired very well with the mango peach salsa. I'd recommend that for your next choice!
