CoolVines recently opened their second location in JC and the space is insanely beautiful! The new spot is in the base of the Modera Lofts, and is about twice the size of the other location on Grove. Twice the size means they have about twice the selection of booze, plus an in-house cafe, a market area with some groceries and a gift section with adorable giftables mainly related to alcohol (shakers, cocktail kits, ice buckets, etc). This is definitely a one stop if you have any entertaining needs. Liquor at CoolVines is definitely priced on the higher end, so just be aware. You won't find as many mainstream brands. They have a ton of local selection and funky brands that I have never heard of. It's always an adventure when I stop in. I mainly stick to wine when I'm making the trip to CoolVines. They have a ton of great bottles in between the 12-14$ range, and there is always a cool new option to try. The packaging on most bottles here is always adorable and make for great decoration on the bar. Whenever I give a bottle of wine as a gift I always come to CoolVines because they do a great job of wrapping the bottle up with tissue paper and ribbon. I'm equidistant to both locations, but I'll probably opt to visit this location in the future because of how large the selection is! read more

Not only are they beyond conveniently located, but they have an amazing beer, seltzer, and cider selection. Decent wine too, but that's not usually what I go in there for because they don't have many from Oregon- which is my favorite. They sell packs and also singles. Absolutely love coming into this CoolVines! It's super convenient to me and has everything you would need for drinks and simple snacks/meals. They also have coffee; although, I have never given it a try. There's a great wine selection with so many different regions and price points. It's a super eclectic mix and I always find something I've never had before. I love speaking with the managers to get recommendations on food/wine pairings too. They have always led me in the right direction. Awesome beer and cider selection too! They do have hard liquor, but I have never taken a close look as I don't drink it. They also carry some cheese, pates, meats, bread, crackers, sweets, dried fruits/nuts, pasta, bread, sauces, dips, and some frozen items. My favorite part about the store is the weekly wine and beer tastings. Wine tastings every Friday evening and beer every Saturday evening. I like the snack section here and use it frequently in the summer for picnics with friends. Good wine selection and local liquors as well. I like the cafe inside with Balthazar Bakery pastries. I think the snacks are a little overpriced but given I haven't found a lot of them elsewhere, and definitely not as nicely curated, I'm ok with that! read more

O.M.G. this place is AMAZING. The wines, the cheeses, the meats, the etc etc etc. Wow. They also have a highly trained staff to point you in the right direction. This is a wonderland!!!!! I live in a waterfront apartment complex 0.4 miles from CoolVines (8 minutes by foot). I ordered a $173 case of wine for delivery. In addition to the $5 delivery charge, I added $30 tip with written instructions to deliver the wine to my door, NOT the concierge (I am quarantined because of a recent positive COVID test and should not, according to CDC and NY State guidelines, leave the apartment). Despite express written instruction, the case was left in the lobby, not at my door. When I called the store manager, he averred (1) the delivery person could not find the apartment, (2) the concierge couldn't furnish additional directions, and therefore (3) the case was left with the concierge. First, there are laser-etched floor diagrams next to each elevator bank. My apartment number appears in each diagram. Second, the apartment layout is trivial: 100s are first floor, 200s are second floor; 101 is at the front of the building, 158 is at the back. Even a 10-year-old could discern that. Third, the delivery slip included my phone number. The problem is, I am in one of the 58s, at the very back of the building. The delivery person didn't want to walk down the long hallway. $30 tip plus a $5 base delivery fee was insufficient inducement. When I ventured to the lobby, against CDC and NJ State protocol, to retrieve the case, there were only 11 bottles in the container. I was shorted a bottle of Viognier. So, I had to expose everyone in the lobby to COVID breath while I spoke on the phone to resolve the discrepancy. The CoolVines manager said he would refund the cost of the missing bottle in the morning (why not then?) and would remove the delivery tip, but I encourage Yelp readers to steer clear of CoolVines. Waterfront Wine & Liquor does not have a sophisticated website for online ordering, but they are nearer, have a more extensive wine selection, and have never been too lazy to deliver a case of wine to my door. I tried CoolVines because of its snazzy retail layout (the store is beautiful) and its professional website, but these are meaningless considerations if the delivery service is lousy. And CoolVines' delivery service is indeed lousy. read more
